Thud Poems

Untitled Document

I think most people picture a parting phrase,
The “I love yous”,
Or something like,
“You’re going to be in a better place.”
It’s hard to describe,
I feel like I’ve had sort of a perspective change.
It’s hard not to imagine like I’ve seen death,
And when we locked eyes,
I saw the heat edge of reckoning’s face.
I feel the beating of my Heart’s drum,
The thud,
‘Dum duh dum’,
Speedy pace.
Just the thought of dying keeps me from sleep,
Head held hostage,
The fee for sleeping isn’t worth dreaming myself awake.

I haven’t been eating,
Meals come every several days.
“That’s a symptom”,
Our argument's reflection gleams at us from the squeaky clean plates.
I’m too busy teething to be worried about being flush in the face,
My colours been gone,
I’m blending into both the whites and greys.

   outcast
            faith deficient
falls out of heaven
            crashes with thunderous thud;
grounded
             broken wings
mocked by Icarus
             a just fate

Halcyon Fall

Through the beige isle, veins of green holler aloud
Lush foliages of maple, yet I pick upon a rosebud
Mists of sentiment brabble, springing whistles of reminiscing
From the floor, they call out to me, unrelenting
I kept at it, pacing across the vast meadow
Lights begin to dim, even so, I shall escape under the nightly glow
Along the paths, I turned over, my gaze fixed on a lonely, yet luminous flower
Gasping for its life, each breath drew me closer, soon after, I saw it flicker
Taken aback, with these bare hands, I gave it my company
As it swayed, we fell in harmony
The fickle daffodil bathed in silence, hapless, it let out a thud
Gently, sunlight veiled its charcoal petals, a light breeze blew, and I too shall return to mud

The song of the tower

The tower dark and cold, a conquest for the brave.
My hands shake, a sign.
The bed unmade, Mother’s throne.
My cheeks lift, freedom.

The jougs bite, a bit looser.
My talons reach for it,
Click. Thud.

The crickets and wind sing, a perfect recipe.
My limbs remember the weight, stillness lingers.
Hunger gnaws where helplessness once slept.
Instincts awaken, survival bound.
"Mother could not keep me bound forever."

The trap is set, candle in the window.
Bread in the oven.

My brave knight, come rescue me.
The song rides the wind, siren slick.
My hair, golden destruction.
A noose spun long.

The pig comes, snorting vows and steel.
Exhausted, he falls, butchered clean.
My hands steady, my stomach full, sleep calls.

The jougs returns, familiar, a crown.
Mother must never know.
For she will do to me.
As I do to the brave.

Selfish reward

Feeling pulse
Rhythmic pull
Thud and ache
A simple tool
She lays so still
Pale soft and clear
A red painted lip
Finds man's one weakness
Her body firm explore
I learn
Softer still I find warmth and joy
As urges pull between soft wet glow
Grabbing hard hips laced in silk
Pulse explodes in desires thrill
Body one a thrilling Humm
I've become her favorite toy
Drips hold until water flows
Drowning sweet
Until thirst unfolds

The Soft Goodbye of a Mountain Bear

He woke to the hush of a mountain thaw,
Where snow gave way to pine and claw,
The breath of spring in the alpine air,
Stirred the long slumber of the highland bear.

His coat still thick with the sleep of frost,
Not knowing yet what he'd gained or lost,
He sniffed the wind with a gentle grace,
And lumbered down from his shadowed place.

The creek sang low, the sun cast gold,
The world, once icy, now warm and bold.
He moved like dusk through the melting white,
Drawn by hunger, drawn by light.

But the forest's edge was not the same,
A ribbon of danger blacktop flame,
Where speed and steel meet fur and bone,
And wild hearts walk this path alone.

On Highway 14, the silence broke,
A screech, a thud, then rising smoke.
No hunter’s cry, no cub’s soft call
Just the stillness after a sudden fall.

Now he lies in the morning haze,
A monarch felled in the modern maze.
And the pines bow low in the April breeze,
As ravens circle in silent pleas.

For not all who wake from winter’s keep
Will find the spring they dreamed in sleep.
The highway roars, but none may hear
The soft goodbye of a mountain bear.

Droplet's Sacrifice

The mission was simple;
To save the whole planet
From white clouds
Lies the troopers

The wind howled
As they fell down
A headfirst dive
At the speed of sound

Death is a friend of the Earth
They thought, as they fell across the sky
I am the savior of the Earth
But I know not how or why

Today they made a sacrifice
That little drop of rain
But it went over our heads
Life seems still and same

Thud
They disintegrate into the hungry plants
They watch their friends get absorbed
This perilous journey they undertook
For the good of our world

In a ferry, gloom wore a drained cloth of eve
My heart desolate drifting far and bleak,
Tears fluid as love’s passage can’t rewrite
One lilt of birds through wind’s maddened thud.

And needing rest on a couch in dull shade,
Irreverent the moon … how brittle the sheen…
Till a peasant lounged beside me , bright as flame
Lightening my face… amber eyes aglow.

His ruffled hair touched my cheeks without words,
O humble silence releasing angst, my fear
That he offered soft  tunes from his old wooden harp ;
Then left in haste with a smile like a cherub's glow.

Somehow, I felt warmth revived, thorn’s relief
Freed by a young street boy so divinely sent...
A heaven’s keeper , a human the least
An angel on earth, granting crown from grief.

A grin in the snow 01-03-25

Winter snow oppresses stark branches
as the last of autumn deciduousness
slips silently to the ground.
Thud!
Snowflakes spring into life
like summer dandelions frolicking in the biting cold-
There at the heart of the frozen world lies my dog,
grinning.

Pulse alone

Curtains black and short
sun settled to other side of me
a thump between us I feel
almost simple simply cruel
the way my mind plays with You
a thought a pulse and a pull
desire striking with heart pounding
thud
oh I know its the same
every night trying to tame
the urge
to say
Your name

Premium MemberElmer Fudd

Elmer Fudd
is my hunting bud.
We're gonna get that pesky rabbit.
We're gonna grab it.

One thing that I can say about Fudd,
he was out to get Bugg's blood.
I'm sorry to say,
always, to this day,
his big aspirations went thud.

Do you think he'd have better luck
if he tried to get Daffy Duck?
I admit, Elmer's just a cartoon,
that I watched Saturday, 'til noon.

Premium MemberHow Sudden

..
A ghastly cadaver drops, for whose noble sake?
To ravish the grandeur of wildlife
In the thud of night; to mangle
Mother Earth's gift and its life's intent
Where each tender beast moves in a flow
Linking a primal, fond tie with nature’s deities…
But the affinity with innocent children, its tribe
Snuffed with one ruthless bang in the forest
When pitiless minds become delirious… heinous
A giraffe, a leopard perishes without knowing
The lithe body quickly turns into a gaunt shadow,
How sudden. Just like that: unable to play with birds
And race with own calf or cubs along an inlet...
O hollow night, O lamp of silence drained
By the vicious game from predators
Lusting after power...just like that
And no one can tell, for whose noble sake?

Premium MemberThe Flight of Icarus

Quietly without a sound

From the sky he spirals down

Tail on fire and broken wing

Demons laugh, no Angels sing

Earlier his flight begun

Flying high to tempt the Sun

In his ears those words would ring

Father can't know everything

Downward, downward, as he must

With a thud he hits the dust

Heaven sighs, no bells will ring

Angels cry and Demons sing

Scarlet Symphony

Drip drip drip
There she is, curl up like a ball,
Hands pressing hard, raw is the pain,
For a moment the heated pad works.

Thud thud thud
Powerless she's against the shedding,
High and low, her hormones play tennis,
Giggles of laughter turn into tears.

Drip drip drip
With every drop of Vermillion,
A raging pain rise in her low back,
The room is spinning, her head is pounding.

Thud thud thud
“Those are the scarlet drops,
That could make her a Mother,” she thought
As the light faded from her pain-filled eyes.
