AFTER THE PARTY
After the party I awoke on a desert island
At least I thought so, with the blinding sun
And a view of all those swaying palm trees
Well, perhaps it was me who was swaying
My head was thumping as if bongos playing
And wet with sweat at over eighty degrees
I guess that last night must have been fun
But just where I am now, I don’t understand
Perhaps it’s the Tahitian picture on the wall
And the bright morning sun is streaming in
I am wearing my underpants front to back
Probably a game, or a sort of joke on me
But is that the ocean out there that I can see
Maybe it was daybreak before I hit the sack
So many cocktails made with pink hued gin
It’s such a pity I cannot think straight at all
There’s still noisy laughter outside in the hall
Just the usual cheap upper floor motel room
It may be my own, I suppose I should check
My mouth is so dry and my head is spinning
Have I been drunk from the very beginning
But is this a floral garland around my neck
It can only be my vivid imagination, I assume
I’m not on an exotic tropical island after all

Wind filled sails drives his command,
A salty breeze chisels his face.
The crew obeys his every demand,
Master of the sea stands in his place.
Sailing South to all virgin lands,
Heading's true and steering straight.
Ship is cradled in starlit hands,
With fertile dreams at Heaven's gate.
No tempest will dissuade his course,
A swashbuckler oh so bold.
Guided by unnatural force,
To fill his coffers full of gold.
All deckhands will now prepare,
Adventure on the open seas.
While searching for islands fair,
Perchance to do as they please.
Lookouts spy a distant ship,
Crew stands firm to do their duty.
Now with sword strapped to the hip,
A plan to seize pirate's booty.
Alongside black sail moving fast,
All fall silent as cannons roar.
A fatal shot strikes the mast,
Skull and crossbones sail no more.
With victory that tastes so sweet,
On their way to a lavish coast.
Tahitian beauties soon to meet,
The part that they all love the most.
Rum filled shipmates sigh relief,
Back to sea no more to roam.
With gold and jewels beyond belief,
This Captain steers a course back home.

From behind packs of premature spring
Comes molten summer for the win!
Crumbs of hot rain snatched away
Numb rivers sink into bleak basins
May's but a gentle memory of
Days kissed with misty green hindsight
Bays and beaches fill with sun children who will
Stay long beyond the tahitian twilight.

The Raven
Black pigmented ink
Circle my frame
Charcoal
My melanin
Fierce as the raven
Perched upon a housetop
In its black attire
Regal and justified
Jet as ebony,
Timber from a tropical tree
Molasses is my honey
I knead with the night
And scare the limited of mind
More precious than the Tahitian pearl
A lantern at midnight
My soil shall keep my garden
Fruitful and multiplied

I’m awake by 6:00.
While stars shimmer
I jostle my husband
Who sleeps soundly
Upon dampened sheets.
Tom is burlap
While I am satin.
Wishing myself out
Of my cartoon pajamas
I struggle lifting his
Aged body from his bed.
My back aches
While I dress Tom
Thinking of those satin
Tahitian nights and
Playful lagoon floating
Over conch shells
With my handsome
Burlap man.
Slideshow memories
Of Satin and Burlap
Times stamped in my
Young 70-year old mind.

The Eiffel Tower gives up its power,
When seductive Paris we travel through.
Mayfair is oft-huddled in a shower,
Tahitian lagoons lose their dreamy blue.
Little awe Greek islands inspire in me,
The romance of the Taj Mahal does pall,
An aurora’s magic I’m slow to see,
Each place we go I feel I’ve seen it all.
The eye no Saharan sky can excite,
Few vistas thrill on a hot air balloon.
The Arctic presents no breathtaking sight,
In Rio I’m hardly over the moon.
The loveliest scene pales next to your face,
And no glimpse of paradise can amaze.

The Tahitian sparrows won't sip,
The Albatross won't dive deep,
The pelican, the islander
Poorer than before,
Has to suffer and keep...
The agony...inside him and her,
And the world at large is watching,
The tyranny...
The imperialism that was once before,
Here it comes once again,
To poison your rips,
French foe..Foe,
Three two one go...bang!
Spare me Francois, it is Joe...
Who would suffer...
Go general...just go,
Deep...deep and on the surface blow

In the crystal clear waters
Surrounded by a lush lagoon
A beauty bathes
I'm in heavenly swoon
Her curvaceous shape
Reflects back to me
Her long brown hair
Flowing so free
Her wetted body
In luring moist glow
Entices my soul
In bodily grow
As she wades through the waters
Her body flows
Shaped and tanned
Natures bestowed
She exits the lagoon
As the water cascades
My Tahitian beauty
In her bathing parade
