      ~ A Story You'll Surely Adore ~
              ('Suicide's a Pain')

As I was about to enter the store
I was smacked by a malfunctioning door
Without so much as the slightest warning
       or a perfunctory good morning

     Astonished more than stunned
I took off at a brisk run
     to inform the manager-on-duty
of the door that had greeted me so rudely…

When I’d finished my story, to my utter surprise
the manager muttered: “Lies, lies, nothing but lies”
My jaw dropped and I exclaimed, “Why? Why? Why?”
the manager replied, “We’ve an epidemic of spies”

“Spies from our competitors,” he continued
“that’s why we smacked you upside your head”
In disbelief and rage, I said, “Well, I never” –
pivoted right back into that door ~
                                      and keeled over dead

O deserve thy desires first

Pining for long, O longing heart,
If smacked art thou by a beauty,
If rocked by her assets thou art,
Should any charming face sway thee,
Earn first good deeds her to deserve,
Desires on their own seldom serve.

Translation (sestet*) | 24.08.2025 | beauty, heart, women
*Wonder, if it can be called a Sestetto Rima-- iambic meter with a rhyme scheme of ABABCC.

Note: Here is a verse from Bhartrihari’s Shringaara Shatakam (hundred verses on love and romance). This verse is in Vasanta-tilakaa meter. It says: if ye cherish a beauty, she must be deserved first. Here is the transliteration of the verse in Sanskrit:

Tasyaah stanau yadi ghanau jaghanam cha haari,
Vaktram cha chaaru tava chittam kim aakulatvam |
Punyam kurushva yadi teshu tava asti vaañchaa,
Punyaih vinaa na hi bhavanti sam ihita-arthaah || 20 ||

Ford smacked into the Cadillac
but why didn’t you hold her back?
Ford has her own ways Buick said
She’s out of control and two are dead.

And Just Like That

Just when things were looking up,
When the sun started to shine once more,
The floor is yanked from underneath my feet,
And I’m shaken to my very core.
I thought I climbed to the top of the hill,
Thought I’d finally finished the race,
But nothing ever goes as planned,
Just like that, life smacked me in the face.
I told myself life would turn out the way I wanted,
But life always seems to have other plans,
I was the one controlling my life,
But just like that, it’s out of my hands.
I thought I finally found my people,
The ones who I could call my friend,
My obliterated heart started to heal,
And just like that, it’s broken again.

What’s Yet to Come

I can’t believe
how things have changed
yet so much has remained
exactly the same
It’s been four years but...

I look at the headlines
and wonder if we’ve fallen
through a time warp
or a hole in the floor
or been smacked on the head
by a one way door

What the hell happened to
the last four years
or four decades for that matter

progress has been
stripped away
in a matter of days
to make a new way
for us to pay

crack out the bullwhips
and light up the crosses
round them up
put them in chains
and send them off
on airplanes
and forget they
ever had names

A Bright Star in the Black Night

And Skadi had her way much snow today
Imparted volunteer job hopes soar high.
Each Thor’s day , a shining star in a black sky
Orange in my throat and gob smacked, what to say?
And never let the blighters beat you down
And the sawbones mention you cannot heal .
And show them I work with plenty of zeal
I am cook too at the depot uptown.
The doctors state see you are strong ,
We think you are weak ,die in a care home.
My star is dimming do I fight or take flight?
My job like an void vessel I felt dead
This must be the rehabs typical syndrome
Hard to feud with sawbones reason-they’re right
My mood tastes like bad lime pulled down by dread.

Petty Freddy

Written By: D. Collins 9/17/24

Petty Freddy's a man no child would want to be.
Void of selflessness and human morality.
Stuck on stupid because it is all about him.
May be why wifey doesn't travel to Wisconsin.

This is as clear as day, without stating names.
And, for his infidelity he gave Biden the blame.
Can you see a Petty Freddy doing anything right?
Like coming with something to enhance your life?

They do "childless cat ladies" to "eating dogs and cats".
Pimp-smacked and locked-down when it comes to facts.
I am no expert, but when it's all said and done.
Ya'll will feel me because I grew up with one.

Ode for a Fortunate Infant

Newborn:
  Smacked and
    Screaming —
Hardly more than a new fact,
    A statistic
Already forgetting
    The crush into Becoming.
This “tabula rasa,”
Kicking and flailing,
Not yet swaddled or cradled,
Held only by Fate
In the first minutes of Destiny
  (unformed and waiting)
With a heart
Needing to be embracd
By more than just touch,
But blessed to completely feel
The warmth of Acceptance
That founds a first sense
Of Identity as being a Self
    Here linked with Others…
For the first lessons of Love —
Swaddled in belonging
Wrapped with thanksgiving.

'Hannah' thought she was a baby blue 'tit',
would 'toot' at dawn searching for a titbit.
Sounded more like a 'tut tut,'
so her 'mama' smacked her but.
Now she goes baa baa, like a 'ewe' misfit.

'Hannah' bought a small 'racecar' for her 'mum,'
but her 'mama' had a very big tum.
At first it was 'wow' and 'yay,'
but then' tut tut' and no way!
Trapped her 'boob', when seat got stuck to her bum.

A Lesson In Attitude

Keep it up and you will see
All my sensibility
Lost along with lots of patience
Do not give me all this nonsense
And excuses for this act
Your about to get so smacked
My anger is getting higher
I do not like filthy liars
Telling stories to disguise
All their cheating dirty lies
Looking in my eyes you dare
To fix things but I don't care
What you are about to say
Turn around and go away
Leave me alone or you will know
How my furious eyes glow
With disdain I have for you
You better really think it through
Either leave and not come back
Or stay and face the angry wrath
Of a woman thats been scorned
Your still here, you have been warned
Fists and punches to your face
Your a black and blue disgrace

Premium MemberButterflys Wish

I would like to be a lady for a day the butterfly said.
Dressed in pinks and oranges, and perhaps a little red.
You cannot have it all, her godmother replied.
But I can make you yellow, and help you to glide.

So the butterfly turned into a lady on a warm Tuesday.
She glided into windows, but people shooed her away.
One tried to swat her with a flyswatter, and smacked her tail.
Turn me back into a butterfly, she yelped gliding off a rail.

God Complex

Life is a complex without a god.
Feel too much, risk being wrong.
Sit in silence, agree, just nod.
We wish it didn't take that long.
Feel like a slave, get smacked with a prod.
Sit down, believe that you're strong.
We all need a break from lifes daily fraud.
Please stay seated and sing your hearts song.
I'll be here, I'll listen, I'll applaud.
Wake up to the sound of a life changing gong.
Reality rarely really rallies a real rapture or a ripple.
Condescending criminals cornering creative cons causes us to cripple.
We're never as strong as we think.
We need a reminder from a soul not on the brink

I'm not so sure what is at stake.
Sleep is overrated.
Am I even awake?

Easier said than done.
Hang in there fren.

Dreaming

Dreaming of that special day
Rocketing high to the Moon
Exiting through the spaceship doors
At last I’ve arrived tears of joy filled my eyes
My feet are ready to step on the Moon
In fact for to stay never want to go home
Now I am here with nothing to fear
Gob smacked ‘tis me with the Man in the Moon
