Radiant still: vibrant lover

Reality illuminates the dark
Ostentatious colors that steal sights
Shining, sparkling and singing,
Early-risers delight… the morning glory...

Mewing and meowing commenced right away
The second they built a kitty cat Christmas tree that day
Yawning and sleeping happened in every kitty slot.
Some of them fell off their risers, it happened a lot....

On hushed lawn's carpet, glisten drops of sunshine
On fences, soft winds whisper prayers to sleepy vines

In kitchens early risers on dainty croissants dine
Whilst cross the ocean, lovers sip daydreams of wine...

My late-night snack
  of peanuts and coffee
has got my family
  thinking I'm daffy

But if they weren't such late-risers
  they'd be appalled to see
me noshing red onions with mackerel
in a wet towel ~ Call me Admiral...

That Or Near Dawn
It was late-night, that or near dawn,
the place was empty save a few
older men, the early risers.
She came so close, I smelled the smoke,
whiskey heavy scent and turned to
the return over the green lawn,
of sun alive, and then....I woke....

Premium Member Where Secret Risers Meet
Where secret risers meet,
I've heard the lurid tales,
Upon sick gray waters,
dizzy be the mornings,
Clogged with the sound
Of coughing babies and laughing witches.
There! Against the rotten orange sky
Lies the remains of all you ever loved.
Hallowed be thine night!...

Bare wood creaked
a hand polished rail glistened
the texture of the risers
caressed her feet
each step
a staircase stanza
an elegant entrance
ballet-like
balancing
cold ground
a short dance
and relief

Rainbow
Early morning the
rainbow
spread its' arch,
bridgelike and engineered with perfect hues of light,
over the fire ravaged California town...
and the first risers looked up, clutching their coffee cups in ritual to the luminous curve,
contemplating meaning in the wide color of prism,
as the rainbow faded,
content only with itself....

Floating Smile
A smile was floating in the sky
Before the sun broke free.
I hope that others noticed it
Aside, of course, from me.

For such a sliver of the moon
Is magical and rare,
With just a hint of what we know
Is hanging, hidden, there.

The early morning risers
Who look skyward from the street
May, from time to time, be in for,
Like today, a happy treat....

Waking Up Early
For those who wake up early
There’s so much to see and do –
A sunrise or some exercise
Before the heat breaks through.

A road or path that’s empty
Since most folks are still asleep;
An atmosphere so quiet
That the sense of peace runs deep.

The only drawback’s obvious –
We early risers may
Get so tired in the afternoon
We can’t get through the day....

Shift Change
Steam from fresh ground coffee
Mixes with smoke from cigarettes.
Syrup mixes with butter.
Eggs mix with toast.
Clinks of forks on plates
Mix with clanks of spatulas on the grill.
Last minute bar stragglers
Mix with early morning risers.
Morning crew coming in
Mixes with night crew getting off.
It's shift change at the diner.
Time for me to mix with my bed....

Premium Member Witchs Frog Tree
Your Christmas tree looks like it is made of real frogs! I told the witch.
It is, she assured me. They are standing on circular risers.
Want to hear them sing?
I don’t think that is necessary, I said.

It was too late.
She had flicked her wand and they were stadium singing.
A loud croaking bullfrog in the back ruined the entire song.
I may have to change him back into the mayor, she told me....

Streetlights flicker in daybreaks doubt.
Grayish clouds mope lazily.
Sunrise smirks at the early risers.
Dewdrops dangle on yellowed leaves.
A cat shakes his wet paws.
Robins wrangle chilled worms.
A squirrel maps his acorn field.
Frail winds stifle the hawk’s wings.
Late bloomers shiver in the sun’s lie.
School bus stops chatter.
The old dog yawns and looks at the door.

Too early in the morning,
  Wet nose on mine,
  It's not time!
  The suns not up,
  Cold outside,
Yes, I know you are alive!
  Scratch your tummy?
  It's too early dummy!
  Oh, alright!
You're just too cute a sight.
  Head on my arm,
  Paws upright!
  How could I possibly,
  Move you out tonight?
  It's too early,
  You've woken the cat!
  Let me get up!
  Might as well have coffee,
  You brat!...

Brunch
I’m not sure but I have a hunch
That people indulging in brunch
Wake up pretty late
So think it is great
To eat breakfast when I would eat lunch.

By giving a fancyish name
Those late-risers think they can claim
That their honest intent
Is for time to be spent
Making breakfast and lunch seem the same.

There are crossovers, I will admit
And both meals are considered legit
But we early birds need
For our day to proceed
Morning rations or throats will be slit....

Premium Member Unabated Spring
The wily Winter wind danced
in the face of Spring;
Chasing brittle leaves across
the straw colored lawn.
Whipping brittle branches
 from the maple trees,
to fall like pick-up sticks in a childish game.

The Spring sun maintained vigilance,
non-pulsed by the murder of crows
lining the power lines;
refusing to rise to the wild winds bait.
Sunshine poured like melted butter
over the soggy soil
attempting to lure
the early risers from their sleep.

Crocus’s stir....

Shake From a Quake
A little pre-dawn shaking was going on around LA. Early morning risers got a jolt on St. Patrick’s Day. This quake went the same way so many had gone before. Today, it measured on the Richter scale at 4.4. Nobody was hurt, and no damage had been done. However, experiencing an earthquake is scary and not fun. Was it the spirit of St. Patrick romping along the heather? No, it was just two tectonic plates rubbing together. From a news story found on aol.com

Coffee
Without a little bit in their morning cup, most people find it difficult to wake up. Before leaving the house and heading for work, they put a scoop in the pot and let it perk. Making a quantity of the homemade brew, is what most morning risers will do. Nearly all the ground beans come from South America, specifically from nations like Brazil and Colombia. Just remember when you consume your quantity each day, the beans to make your beverage came a long, long, way!

Premium Member Trees
Of course, with trees
size, canopy and trunk
are all the visual rage

under-looked the hidden
page, the rich story
of roots – a vast network
of quietly, dutifully serving

like the people of a city
far beneath its towers

the High-risers of man
I doubt of God….

as with clouds
their fluffy, puffy floating

far beneath such lofty trance

overshadowed
are the boughs of
rivers and streams
tucked safely away
in their fluid mirrors
humble nests of
yet higher reflection…....
