Waking Up Early

For those who wake up early There’s so much to see and do – A sunrise or some exercise Before the heat breaks through. A road or path that’s empty Since most folks are still asleep; An atmosphere so quiet That the sense of peace runs deep. The only drawback’s obvious – We early risers may Get so tired in the afternoon We can’t get through the day.

I'm usually up at 3:30 – thanks to the dog's need to piddle. After that's done, it's a few pills, a cup of coffee, the internet and the news, then I set to writing until noon. Lunch, then an hour's nap. It's the only part of the day that's dead quiet. In our modern world of noise, silence is rare. / M

One REAL advantage during lockdown and quarantine is that one can get one's shopping done before the masses contaminate everything! Another plus is that it is so quiet before the garbage trucks assail us with their reverse-gear sirens! Aloha! Rico

So true, used to get up at 03.30 and have never grown out of it, of course most afternoons a nap is needed. Tom

In addition to your excellent reasons I would add the sense of accomplishment that comes when you have completed your day's tasks by 2 or 3 in the afternoon. I especially enjoy the quiet atmosphere.

oh tell me about it lol I was awake at 03.30 - 05.30 but all I did was have a cuppa and comment on poems it was too dark to go out lol:-) hugs Jan xx
