Dogs In the Pound
They're tapping on the glass,
 you see?
I feel like i'm some strange anomaly,
 Please someone help,
come to the rescue,

This magnify glass is burning my eyes!
 In captivity I'll wait,
Until one special day,
when the flashy bright lights stop inspecting me,
And I'll have a home for all eternity!...

Thanksgiving
Table set with yummy things -a
Holiday for food
Apple pie and pumpkin roll- that
Nice Aunt Donna brings
Kids run up and down the stair
Singing through the day
Giving thanks for childish things
In each and every way
Very hungry gentlemen
Inspecting every dish
Needing each a plate or ten- a
Grand Thanksgiving wish!...

Childhood
A wonderful time to explore
nature and more
A great time to learn
reading from lore

Blowing bubbles
with a friend
who makes arrows
and is always content

inspecting every element
you were free
life was the happiest
it could ever be

Thats why it seems
to last forever
the days come long to end
each one a treasure...

Just Sing, My Friend
Inspecting emptied views
Of my tulip glass
The ambience skews
A surreal warping
Turned callously crass
Words lose edge
In distractions gum-up
Jaded rebellion
Heart says give up
I laugh
As another cork erupts
Languages absence
Would thwart the corrupt
Still the drunkards sing
Voices echoed to space
Bellowing ballads
Is man's natural grace...

Premium Member Wondering the Why
Equipped with wings too frail to fly
Or so it seems to such as I
He settles on the best.
Soundlessly, compellingly shy.
Inspecting low, rejecting high,
Finds perfect place to rest.

"Tis only man who needs a map
From a computer on his lap,
To find his unmarked way.
The fly has his instincts to tap,
To lead him to the sweetest sap
For a productive stay.

Mind-Set of Humanity
The Liar is like a snake
Inspecting, moving, hissing
Bitter with guilt
Like a sinner in the shadows.
The widow sheds tears,
Over loss of affection.
Outspoken with desolation
When letting go.
A solitary heart
The color of desperation's darkness
It's flicker vanishing
The spirit gives up all optimism.
Compassion veiled,
Hatred above all.
Yet no light
To guide us safely home....

She patiently examines each handful,
inspecting it for special stone she's lost.
Noticing all the rocks she holds are dull,
she patiently examines each handful
while calling herself a stupid numskull.
Knowing how much the diamond must have cost,
she patiently examines each handful,
inspecting it for special stone she's lost.

Premium Member Patchwork
Listen to poem:
Incremental layers, experience, pile up
Like quilts upon a bed in cold winters;
They weigh upon me. I occupy
Myself inspecting, describing them --
Like a child does squares of patchwork.
These multilayered patterns amuse:
I imbue them with richness, with depth,
Depending on my mood, my whimsey --
While their reality no more resembles
My perceptions than printed scraps
Of fabric are like fields
full of fantastic figures....

Gentle Egg

Gentle Egg

She candled an egg in her soft hands
	protecting the fragile,
inspecting with light;
Cusping
Like either horn
Of a crescent moon
When floated aloft on two
	dexterous
		fingers.

Was she not peering into the future?
Making a determination perhaps
Even listening,
Searching for signs
	of life?
or something more mundane ---

Broken vessels
Spots of blood
promising rot ...

Yolkers
	like me......

Only a Fool
only a fool plays by the rules
it's said beggars can't be choosers
only a gambler has nothing to lose
only a rock's too hard to bruise

more than two can play the game
how many in the end will remain?
it somehow doesn't come out the same
when each and all start laying blame

when we take off the velvet gloves
inspecting and examining this thing called love
seeing what it is and is not made of
praying for guidance from those above...

Premium Member Beautiful Fall Acrostic
Behind the strong trunks of evening gloom
endless leaves sifting at toes
away and beyond in the low light fog
universal laws lead us home
trios of students examine life
inversely inspecting ideas and worms
fall lives adrift in the warmth
unkindled by muting life to death
leaven for life bread.

Fluttering winds, hair, friends
all swirled like a muffler taken to air
let us climb high toward heaven
let us swan dive into mulch with flair....

Alexs Constellations
On a cool and cloudless Autumn eve
He stepped outside of his indoor light
To take a stroll, and so took his leave
To feel the warmth of fire at night.

The flames now gone left stars on the ground
That are softly shimmering embers.
Inspecting the sky he looks around
To see if it lost some members.

He is overwhelmed – he wouldn’t know
If stars have left their cosmic stations.
Taking a twig he stirs in the coals
And reshapes earthly constellations....

There Is No Shadow To the Sun
There is no shadow to the Sun
nor boundary to his abundant rays
he doesn't know a moment's peace
neither the meaning of a "root."

Wherever he tries to cast a shadow
each time his light will be there first
By Jove, indeed, a high price to pay
for wishing to see everything.

Inspecting all, all will be there to see you
no piece of you a secret and your whole is bare
without even a speckle of the shadow of an ant
for your soul to find rest and refuge there....

Premium Member I'Ve Got Blue Tits
a pair of blue tits inspecting new nesting box spring is in the air I know haiku don't have titles... but I couldn't resist! My nesting box was made by students at the school I worked at - it has been in situ since 2016 but this is the first year birds are making it their home. I watched the pair inspecting the box on Sunday, the male spent ages pecking round the entrance to make it smooth ... today they are nest building in it 4/19/18

Premium Member What Heroes
They wear a cloak of invisibility
no one sees them
working behind the scenes
rearranging the scenery
inspecting the wires
from which hang
the future of daybreak
brown sugar atop the oatmeal
lunches and backpacks
hurried goodbyes
the school bus rendezvous.

No one sees them
as they ride the bus
enter through the service entrance
to work
supporting the backbone
of a country
that does not see them
for invisibility has no color.

Choices By: Miracle Man 6/20/2020 In a toxic environment we’re being forced to live, and in the name of social justice we rewrite history. We dwell on past wrongs while refusing to forgive, and many is the time we’ve resorted to sophistry. We no longer extend the hand of kindness to others, and we busy ourselves daily, inspecting others fruit. Because each person has his or her own druthers, each sunrise always brings something else to dispute.
