"Deep silence lay heavy in the walls, floors, and even the bricks
as I stood still listening ... knowing that death still lingered here."

                                                                     Quote by _ Constance

Abandoned houses are meant for exploring, I am way too curious to walk on by; and don't mind the creaking, slopping old flooring, but while inspecting this house it seemed to sigh. I could hear rain pouring and the wind roaring, and from somewhere deep pigeons began to fly; then I saw her float all wispy down the stairs, and I ran so fast I knocked over old chairs.

Crystol, thank you for your comment, compliment and congratulations. I took my time using RhymeZone to find each rhyme as Emile is very strict about his rhyming and it paid off, Constance

Dear Constance …. Spooky! Love your quote as well as the poem - really eerie with great impact. I love your haunting poems. This is very atmospheric building up the tension. Your vivid descriptions make it easy for the reader to picture the scene of the haunted house - curiosity that suddenly turns to horror - I would have been out of there like a shot too! ‘ ‘this house it seemed to sigh’ really stood our for me. The secrets held within its walls. Really enjoyed this haunting tale.

The end made me laugh! Seems to put the protgonist at ease, discovering a curious house not unlike a poet, until things GET REAL! Enjoyed!
