Fish Wish

it would be for a fat fish
like the one who flopped
like the one who dropped
right off my dinner dish...

Butterfly
You took my love
Gently in your hands
Like a butterfly;
Then you plucked off
One of the wings
And laughed as it flopped
Upon the ground....

Little Things Mean a Lot
Her rather quaint cottage in Gwent
Appeared to be quite Heaven-sent
Then down came a spider
That flip-flopped inside her
And hie high ballistic she went!...

Zumbada
A Flamenca dancer's loose blouse
Caught the eye of a little mouse
When it jumped inside
She bloody-near died
What flopped out just brought down the house!...

Free Fish

who wanted to be free once more
So he flipped and he flopped
and he rolled and he hopped
until a kind soul opened the door...

Be Gentle With the Goldfish
Please be gentle with them! Mary Lou’s mother had said.
Mary Lou took them out most carefully and patted their head.
They flipped and flopped weirdly for her mother’s favorite daughter.
Unfortunately no one told her goldfish need to stay in the water....

The Dead Pitter Patter
days spent, the pitter patter of my heart beating faster.
Our love, my love, i thought it was real.
Urs was just fake.
Everytime you came on, it beat and flip flopped.
But now you tell me, you've asked your ex back out.
My pitter pattering heart died out....

Feverishly Frenzied Floozy and Frazzled French Flamingos
Feverish flowery flippant freakish fantailed floozy who needed grounding
Flimflammed, flashed, flipped and flinched a fabulous frugal foundling
Fortuitous flexible frazzled French flamingos flash-mobbed a fernlike finch
On Friinge of this freakish failed flopped frenzy, I received a friendly pinch....

Upside Down World Is What Our Eyes See
Just like a pin-hole camera's image
The image formed on our eye's retina
Is upside down and cock-eyed
But our brain's used to that,
And tricks us with reversion version
So what we think we see is flipped downside up reality
Our view is an illusion flipped up and flopped over
Sunny side up to go....

Sea Woes
I chartered a boat for sea fishing
Those waves just kept swelling and swishing
But when the boat stopped
My stomach had flopped
To be back on land I was wishing
To go swim in the sea is so sweet
Though I swim like I'm made of concrete
That white sand's so near
There's nothing to fear
Except jellyfish stinging my feet

For the Win
Loudest cheer!
An overwhelming sound!
Stereo hearts
We’re screaming around.
Who deserves to win?
Stay at the top…
Should it be the best?
Or the once who are flopped?
Irrevocable results.
Gruesome reaction!
Stolen victory!
It’s all in their attention.
Bashing hearsay,
Twisting our minds.
So let’s just move on…
Till we get so fine....

Poetry In the Wind
A summer wind came barging in
to block two winter storms
I just blew in, she chirped
to keep you big boys warm
The storms ramped up
soon temperatures dropped
The summer wind winced
her initiative flopped
Back home the wind flew
to sunny, tropical climes
'Twas the last time she'd venture
to block icy cool rhymes...

Autumn, Maple
Flame, yellow glowing
Light this dark shell, eternal
Fire warms, color calms.

401k
She chased me through the letter
grocery store
wild haired flannel shirted
and began to shout
in the dairy asile
about committment and rights
longevity and history
her hair flopped and she began to add spit to her sentences
it was almost funny
except she was spitting on me
wild
she was wild but not in a good way
what you mean, I said finally, is you want his 401K
believe it or not, she walked away....

Spurned
Flopped like a wilting weed
Wedged in an arid crack,
Gobbled up the spurt of seed
And floundered on the back,
Spurned and cast away,
Swallowing with glee,
Begone, I tell myself,
As quick as you can be.
Flopped like a dying bloom
Dumped on a garbage heap,
Gobbled up in ashen flesh
And compost ridden sleep,
Spurned and then forgot,
A courtesan of lies,
Depart, I pray of her,
Depart and damn your eyes....

Soaking In the Love
She flopped herself off of her bike
Landing on soft sweet grass
The daisies giggled with relief
That she had not landed on them
I love the trees, I love the clouds,
I love you God, she said to the sky.
She was full of pure happiness.
The first spring day that had not rained.
Her mother called her, but her eyes were closed.
She was soaking in the love,
Satisfied that there had been a prettier day
Nor would there ever be one....

Requiem of the Rising Sun: April 3
Dead, dying, deadest
All security is broken.
Warm sand wrapped in seaweed
Your smiling face
Goose bumps in hard, playful waves, washed by
Laughing foam, watched by a
Dancing sun
Drips of ice cream trickled down sandy arms
As flip-flopped feet swerve Shelob
Sleeping in her glittering lair,
Sung to sleep by the lullaby of semi, mosquitoes, traffic, and waves.
Slap, slap, roar.
Slap, slap, roar.
Slap, slap…
ROAR.
Silence....

A Moth Meets Devastation
I was reading in my study
On my desk a moth lay stunned,
It had flew into my lamp,
I fear 'tis moribund.
It had fluttered around the room
Erratic in its flight,
Yet in all that empty space
It collided with my light.
I felt sad at its demise
As it flopped beside my book,
How unfortunate I thought
If only it had looked.
I imagine it flew towards the light
In hope of navigation,
Heading, it thought for safety
But meeting devastation....

Ah, Golfslangadang
Grip it, rip it, stick it.
Bombed it, flopped it, topped it too.
Stay, sit, slice, scoot,
Run, kick, roll, draw,
Carry, fly, die, spin,
Watch the little ball go in.
Hop, get up, get down,
Break, oh please just bite,
Ah, the glories of the ball in flight.
On the screws, hit it pure,
Nailed it, straight and sure,
Chunked it, yanked it,
Shanked it, pulled...
Oh, it broke the other way,
Sorry guys I got fooled...
Not my day.

Light Verse
I Was a Sitting Duck
I was a sitting duck when the tide came in.
No idea it would go past my chin.
I struggled and I flopped.
I bucked and I hopped.
It took me way out to sea.
I went under quickly, poor little me.
But a dolphin came along and gave me a push.
That old water threw me up in a whoosh.
I found myself all safe and sound.
To say thanks I looked all around.
But the dolphin was gone with a flip and a wink,
And I resumed washing dishes in our old kitchen sink....

Seagulls Take Flight
Seagulls Take Flight
Rose strolled alone on a warm sandy beach
as salty sea foamy waves crept to reach
net her toes as the wind rose
She Jump from getting wet toes
instead fell back on her butt with a screech
Beach bumming seagulls came flying around
while Rose sat embarrassed on the wet ground
Plop! Whitewash flopped on her head
then up to the air they fled
flapping, squawking, with snapping hungry sounds
