Road Trip
Road Trip

Rumbling down the road,
Over potholes, bumps and hills,
Active backseat of kids
Dead set on not taking spills.

Trying to make it home,
Rain was causing delay.
Inside the car we were
Praying all the way....

Sialoquent
In seminar, speaker wondered why the participants changing seats from first row to backseat; are they mischievous? Thinking what reason is; none told, why shifting? Cause while talking saliva he's spitting; This action called 'sialoquent', at times it's ridiculous.

Life's Great Sin
It was on an old dirt road, back in the country
That I first tasted of life’s great sin
In the backseat of that old sedan
That I borrowed from one of my kin
I thought I knew everything
But she taught me a lot more
A rookie she laughingly called me
As she blew cigarette smoke out the door...

Ears of Fury
"EARS OF FURY"

“I'm done,” she said
and she got out of her
car grabbing
her kid
from the backseat.
“You're not my father,”
she said,
walking away
without lessons from
a father.
then she was
out of my sight,
angry like
a bull running without
direction in Pamplona.

Undecided
Your heart is tardy,
hardly used except to whisper
words of courteous affection.

Passion takes a backseat with your
carefully selected styles of self-protection.
'I love you' hardly ever leaves your lips.

Is it fear of letting go that stills your
soul, or the fear you'll get too close
that keeps you undecided?...

Premium Member Rain Brings Back the Memory
Rain brings the memory of the day
The car's engine caught on fire, and the uncles started
Dragging us kids out of the backseat
Throwing us silently into ditches

Saving our lives, without talking
We all knew better than to tell our mothers
Dad was the one pouring stuff on the hot engine in the rain
When it happened....

This Is Me
Free falling in traverse
Sight seeing the universe
From the backseat of a hearse
Trying to outrun Cain's curse

A flash of light
My soul burns bright
Illuminating a moonless night
Loving till I get it right

Tripping over debris
Accumulated from summer seas
Seeking joy on bended knee
Staring in the mirror, this is me....

Slinky Highway Time
I wished to know how my new slinky would do out the car’s back window
So while Dad drove highways and thought me backseat asleep with pillows,
I rolled the glass down, then holding one end tight, sent my toy to flight.
Five cars honked, three swerved and lots aimed gestures placing blame for this plight.

Premium Member Twins
Rebecca and Isaac had twins
As different as different could be

A hunter was Esau, a man of the field
A scholar was Jacob, a dweller in tents

The same mother, the same father
the same education, the same home
Yet one stayed put, while the other roamed

The lesson seems clear, for eyes wiling to see
Environment takes a backseat to heredity...

Premium Member Character Anomaly
That part of our anatomy
often remembered first, usually,
and by which others form an opinion
of our character, unfortunately
is the face. With some women
it takes a backseat in preference
for another of greater prominence,
located just a glance below the face
or if you prefer just above the waist,
and is often doubly false, say peeved men....

A Single Heartbeat
A lonely heartbeat,
Hidden beneath the deep.
Each with a different rhythm,
magnificent to hear them.

Bump, bump,
bump, bump,
Never missing a bump.

A lone heartbeat
Skipping with each kissing treat,
The mind seems to take a backseat,
The harmony oh, so sweet

A single heartbeat,
Bringing life to greet,
Finally life has come to a complete....
