Twins

Rebecca and Isaac had twins
As different as different could be

A hunter was Esau, a man of the field
A scholar was Jacob, a dweller in tents

The same mother, the same father
the same education, the same home
Yet one stayed put, while the other roamed

The lesson seems clear, for eyes wiling to see
Environment takes a backseat to heredity

This is so true! I am an identical twin and our ideas could not be further apart.

Hello Gershon ... two of my cousins are twins, but not identical. I would almost think that your poem was describing them, therefore I can certainly relate to your verse - thank you Gershon - Lindsay

You zeroed in on the reality of this one, as Esau and Jacob had to be fraternal twins, as well. Thanks for the insight! Season's Best, Gershon

Tue, so true but Chris is right - triplets, who would he or she have taken after or maybe quins! Do you dream your poems , they are great Gershon! Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

You overestimate me, Jennifer. I certainly don't dream my poems, but I am grateful that you like to read them. Thank you for all of your encouragement! Season's best, Gershon

I wonder if they had triplets what the third one would have done. : ) Nicely crafted my friend.

What a great question! That would have been some rumble n Rebecca's belly! She was already out of her gourd with the two she had. Smles, Gershon
