Undecided

Your heart is tardy,
hardly used except to whisper
words of courteous affection.

Passion takes a backseat with your
carefully selected styles of self-protection.
'I love you' hardly ever leaves your lips.

Is it fear of letting go that stills your
soul, or the fear you'll get too close
that keeps you undecided?

From what I've seen, carefully selected styles of self protection turn to carefully selected weapons of self defense. I don't want to let go but I do want to get close. Being undecided is what keeps up the charade. But that's me.

Well oh well, this piece can reach into one's heart and subconscience, Keith. The 'why's of the 'why nots'. To not "get too close", sounds like good unreasonable reasoning perhaps? I'm sure that some are more easily hurt, and find mending is similar to losing a part of themselves? However,"undecided" can be equally as harmful..blahblahblah...Okay, now I'm starting to confuse myself!:) Wishing you and yours the best!! God bless....Love, Mikki:)

I love this piece. I have met so many people who are afraid or unable to open up and show, or even realize, their feeling. Keep writing!!! Rob

Ah, a very good question indeed at the end. I love that very first line! I don't think I have read anything of yours that I did not consider excellent or beyond. Love, Shar

The older we get the more fear we embrace. Great job at voicing it. Laurie
