If sick of self your own, whom to complain,
In crowd if feel alone, whom to complain.
The world has too far gone, whom to complain,
If all have-- yon of yon, whom to complain.
If we’ve evil seeds sown, whom to complain,
Stripped all Earth bare to bone, whom to complain.
As witness our walls moan, whom to complain,
The why if we’ve not known, whom to complain.
Not much can now be done, none to complain,
Save, in despair to drown, not a complain.

Ghazal |26.09.2024|complain
Poet’s note: A typical Ghazal’s first sher or couplet is known as matlaa. Both the lines share a rhyme (kaafia) and refrain (radeef). In this Ghazal all the ten lines (called misraa) of five couplets repeat the refrain, ‘whom to complain’ as radeef. None of my Ghazals have a maktaa or pen name in the last couplet or sher.

Words that you come came knocking at
Door, whole house hummed with her fragrance.
The eve, your memories still wet,
Then whole town hummed with her fragrance.
All night I mused upon the date,
All night heart hummed with her fragrance.
Old memories made mind fuss, fret,
All my gaze hummed with her fragrance.
Moment or two where so she sat,
The whole town hummed with her fragrance.

Ghazal |07.05.2023| Reminiscing
Poet’s note: This ghazal is not set on traditional lines. There is rhyme (kaafia in Urdu) and there also is refrain (radeef). Here, the rhyme comes in the first line of each couplet (called a sher) and the refrain comes in the second (‘hummed with her fragrance’ in this ghazal).

I find it hard to find the words for how much I love you,
For that warm feeling I get in my heart.
For that shiver that waves over me making the hairs on my skin stand up.
That makes the words either not come out or come out as gibberish,
And my knees to become weak threatening to give way just from the sher sight of you.
The smell of yours that lingers behind fills my head with confusion, making me oh how blind to anything else, but the scent of your smell.
So how can I put how much I love you into words and to tell you how hard I have crazily fell, without ending up looking like a crazy fool.
My world is the happiness when I am loved by you.

Black scar's
Asian glow
A lost women with a drum
The glow came from her beating
Her drum
But the scar's came from her being
Beating on
The music from the drums relaxed
Her body
Her wounds are like they don't even exist
Because she forgets about them when
She play's the drum's
She thinks off nothing else but the music
Until day comes and she has to go to the clinic
An that's when reality attack's her is when
The doctor See's her body
And tells her to make a police report
She Say's no because she is in love with
Him and pregnant and does not want to be alone
But eventually the love dies anyway
Because the doctor called the brother
and told him and the
brother ended the boyfriends life
And his life
Because he had to go to prison as a result
But the brother is in prison
Happy as can be
Because he knows that his sister
Is safe now in gods hands.

Thickness
Foggie skies
Winter days
A slow drive I take
To see if I can see the
Prettty blue flower's
In the tree's
I might be crazy because
I am taking a drive in the winter
And the clouds are filled with fog
But if I was to stay home I would feel
Sad because I am all alone
And my home is empty
So I would rather be on
The road with my heater on
Looking at the bright blue flower's
Which brings out my joy

Against the wall I was his devi
Pressed tight beside his soul
Skin so hot it burned through mine like a fever
Warming my muscles
Warming my pulse
Fueling my movement
Touching my body he was my sher
Braving my imperfections
Lips so thirsty they tasted mine with frenzy
Spinning my thoughts
Spinning my surroundings
Driving my feelings
It was…
Underneath the materialistic piles
Cotton, polyester, and satin
He saw my secret nature
Underneath my pigmented eyes
Crushed Lala and gloomy brown
He saw my Élan vital
Underneath my damaged Pericardium
He found my beating heart.

I woke up and toked,
wrapped up the little jokes,
and led the flow of traffic on down the road...
I'm not Casper but I sher Boo the mood of plaster,
I'd rather stiff at narks to break cards,
with hard farce,
never gettin' pulled over by the words-
...wait in giant leaps,
I can see the next comin' just down the street!
If it was company I'd meet,
but since they're strangers I creep,
wait in song and sing lead!
You lead!
I am a man,
I am looking at the disease!
Wasted on my knees,
I can wait for eternities,
never caring about the breeze,
the cold shoulder,
or the person that stinks-
its all just a place-
a disastrous phase-
earning loads of lore and lies,
mainlining out of personalities,
so come up and peek,
it could only hurt a little cheek,
why wreck the day when there is cause to play?

The Festival of Lights, Chanukah has arrived
a hopeful time of praise each year revived.
The Menorah lit, each home becomes a church.
Blessed are You, L-rd our G-d, King of the universe.
Our sister Miriam lights the shamash taper first
a maiden fair and scholarly her prayers rehearsed
to bring together all that's beautiful, diverse.
Blessed are You, L-rd our G-d, King of the universe.
Eight nights we praise the L-rd for gifting us with Light
and pass around small things which bring delight.
We rejoice. In brotherhood we are immersed.
Blessed are You, L-rd our G-d, King of the universe.
May G-d in his greatness light all your days
May family, friends, and foes mend their ways
for all have needs, let kindness tame their thirsts
Blessed are You, L-rd our G-d, King of the universe.
