Self Conceit Poems | Examples

Premium Member THE ECHO RETURNS NOT

Silent is the echo as pride shouts
   selfishness causing pouts...
      self-conceit triumphs over jealousy bouts
         self-glory reigns with discontentment clouts
            self-reliance wavers upon attacking doubts
               self-pity maneuvers toward false humility-routes…

The echo returns not indeed...
   as self-sufficiency does arrogantly succeed
      self-exaltation declares me-I-my-mine creed
self-inflicting pain midst guilt continues to breed
self-denial actually hoists covetousness and greed
self-love matters most, not recognizing God with His deed.

The Sin of Pride

Upon a throne of gilded lies,
Pride sits, with fire in its eyes.
A whispered voice, a velvet snare,
It lifts you high, then leaves you bare.

A mirror polished, sharp and clear,
Reflects the face we long to cheer.
But deeper still, behind the glass,
A shadow stirs where truths won’t pass.

It builds a tower to the sky,
Where humble hearts dare not apply.
With every stone of self-conceit,
The soul forgets it’s incomplete.

For Pride, a thief both sly and cold,
Takes love and leaves a heartless hold.
It blinds the wise, corrupts the kind,
And leaves the broken lost, confined.

Yet when the tower starts to fall,
And echoes shake its lofty wall,
The humbled heart, through dust and pain,
May rise to find itself again.

For Pride may claim a fleeting throne,
But grace is found in hearts unknown.
To bend, to bow, to see, to share—
In lowering self, we rise through care.

Premium Member My Truths

"My truths are the shared essence of empathy in the
fabric of universal oneness" - Quote by Poet.

The obsessive free will ostensibly latent,
overpowers the dazed mind with trance of falsehood,
obscures the righteous course God designs, l need to take.
The radiance of heavenly light floods my essence, I discern,
drive away the shadow of ego,
I emerge enlightened from the dismal domain of self conceit.
From the clasping fold of karmic destiny I’m released free,
transcend the limits of time and space, the soul surpasses
from mortal case, merges with the absolute entity.
I feel devout breath flow sincerely
with the current of embracing love, see the divine beauty
in everything God has gracefully created for us to marvel.
Empathy then drips from my heart,
defines my truths that I believe connect us.

Milking Cow

Owning a barn was one of your wish lists
Reaping a fruit tree is not a work of an altruist.
They said blueberry jams are your favorite
Wonder if you’ll eat them at once: Savor it!

Did you collect eggs from a tired hen?
Did you rip off the sheep’s clothing in a pen?
I wonder what the old cow said when you milked him out.
Life must be exhausting: He wished to pass out.

How could a mule please your self-conceit?
I’ve heard your grown cattle gave you money and a receipt.
What did the turkey do to provide you with a thanksgiving feast?
The neighboring animals grin; they must be on their feet.

Does being a Welsh pig make you feel like a “Babe in the City”?
How could you allow your fierce cats to act like a kitty?
Raising fowls, geese and pheasants is a nice venture.
Should you stop “milking cow” for once: It’s such torture!

(Should parents use their children as an investment?)

Premium Member Blessed Servant

Blessed

I’m God-loved, grace-nourished, Bible-upheld, faith-propelled

A forgiven sinner, beloved sister, volunteer teacher, cheerful care-giver

I like to share the Gospel, disciple students, write poems for Christ...

Offended am I with self-conceit, discontentment, and hypocrisy

I fear displeasing my King, wasting time, being a stumbling block

I pray to see Israel, spiritual fruits, and ministry accomplishments...

A sojourner am I in the country known as “Pearl of the Orient Seas”

Servant*!

*Matthew 24:46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

Light

Into dense darkness
Thick quiet nothingness
Almighty God spoke light

Perhaps angels trumpeted praises with singing
Perhaps a profound silence revered the aura

Perhaps it was then the radiant vision was born
     The Light of the World
Sent into the darkness of men's hearts
     The Word becoming flesh
     Flesh crucified

So into a dark world
Almighty God sent a great gleaming star
Beckoning men of open hearts to see
What love lay upon the straw
     Promise faithfully fulfilled
     Life freely given

Nights are still dark
Stars still faithfully glisten
Guiding the hearts of shepherds and kings

Into dense darkness
Thick with the worldly wise and the nothingness of self-conceit
Almighty God has sent
The Light of the World

Oh come let us worship Him
     Christ the Lord

Premium Member Yielding To the Divine Transformer

I yield
my self-conceit
…disguised…
as sheer meekness;
false humility
radiating
deceit,
needing God
for His pardon.

Here am I
surrendered
to Christ's love and might
ready to be transformed
through His divine nature*...
Albeit a snake
tamed am I graciously
by the Sovereign Charmer...
Grateful, my heart praises Him!

*2Peter 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

World On Verge of Self Destruction

The world teeters on the verge of self destruction
As humankind devours human kindness
In missions bereft of conciliation construction
Which rebuilds and fields flowers of happiness.

The world withers amid self deceit
When humankind withholds warmth
Preferring to promote self conceit
In the midst of love and laughter dearth.

The world impoverishes dishes
Teeming with understanding and empathy
As humankind extinguishes species of fishes
Whose bowels and vowels spell sympathy.

The world teeters within an ace of insanity
When technology metamorphoses into a weapon
Primed to wreak fabrics woven in human dignity
Disintegrate as revenue at all costs becomes the only business reason.

Rebirth of Worth

REBIRTH OF WORTH

Self conceit is thought a trait to be deplored
Despised when recognised in self or others
And modesty is praised with full accord
Instilled in us by Dutch uncles and mothers

Yet if you choose to go with the inverse
Self hating makes the pairing - a dichotomy
And could in truth prove as a greater curse
Executing an elan ‘vitalotomy’

When I in life myself to another endow
What would the value be of that donation
If I esteem it little as gift; I disavow
Responsibility; I make an abdication

So let us renew acceptance of our worth
Grant life to self, thence all by this rebirth

p.s.
Whether our value is given by God or is innate
It may be enhanced or destroyed by our own dictate

Why

Why man is so scared of solitary Hina?
But is ready to devastate with someone!
Oh this dilemmatic notion slaves my mind to think
Please don’t mention its love, it is never prejudiced,
Not self-conceit either, then what is it Hina?
Just have a look around please
Whatever it is, is it beyond dignity of man?
Or is it merely another reflection of principles or values,
Or again is it the fear of death in solitary?
Maybe the dread of stigma,
i need to be answered , because last night,
When I saw that face in the veil,
Hopeless and wounded, but,
Still unable to cede, per significant other,
Why still diffident, don’t tell me this is love,
i still await to know, hope it’s not a fallacy
Then why their conscious doesn’t agree
It is not enough to convince me hina,
This reality is so bitter to swallow,
I will just wallow in my own vistas,
Yes! I’m not destined for this kind of absurdity.

PHRASIS STREAMS part 1
Brooding,a pensive contemplation
vulnerable in thought,unsure in deed,
fear interplays with unsaid concerns.
Crestfallen,tearfully blue,opportunity
slips into the shallows,a temperament
still-born,a memorial of stone,dated
&surreal.Unable to relate,this failure
impacts all around and perpetually
reciprocates as inner yearning grows.
This need to belong,a seminal paraphrase
a lesson,unlearning self-conceit.

Premium Member Not Much More To Say

Now night hangs heavy
over me.

And meanwhile,
I am alone.
Lost in the past.

Why do I stare at you, in my mind,
with your dark eyes living velvet
in which I lose myself?
My fate's contained in yours.

Let us be extremely frank
and speak the truth about ourselves --
share our anxieties together --
discuss between us what sort
we can't be any longer, what sort
we now desire to be.

Fallen out of love with self-conceit
we shall not regret the loss.

Sequel To Hollow Commenting

My words are pert and curt
and right in right that's hurt
give them space or get disgraced
I am infallible do not come around my poems
give me my medicine and send me on pace.

If you do, I am teeth gnash and bare
take it bad like a scum hurled here
I may be wrong
but you have no right
to get in my sight
pick my mistakes and that shaded light
because if you do so
I will ask you to keep away
from my works
and give me back my dork
and if you persist
I will resist
through an ignore
hurt ass yeah!
take the spite!

wherever the rotten vermin enters
she sends the scare
knowing that she is on fry
entering any commenting club
she is shy
if she is allowed
in ignorance
her ego runs on mayhem
and everybody is soon on dare
she is a nerd that is hard to shake
a critique that is impervious to her faults
which she simply cannot hear
or make a corrective take.

A self conceited nerd that is fermenting in self crowned glory of artistic and linguistic
perfection-where the foul smell of self conceit precedes her by miles. Many smirk a nose at
the pariaah and outcaste.

Writer's Writhings

indeed, at times, he wrote
    verses alien to his heart,

    born of pressure, compromise,
        hollow from the start,

        or bred by boredom,
            by word-smith's self-conceit,

            or prompted by the flight
                of fancy or deceit;

but on the whole, he's not
    your idling, rambling rhymester

for, much of the joy and grief
in his lines are his, the writer

        who has brayed and buried
much of his soul in his art

and raised over it a mound
of sand to mark that part !

Piece's of Peace

Wind warrior's chant among proud souls
high in the mountains on grassy knolls
ancient ancestors urging them on
from deep within' their own heart song

The skies ceiling is breakin'
the people have weakened
honor has slipped out the door
empty faces , lifeless traces
human races , unfit , grace no more

Their book's speak of idol worship....
what do they worship now ??
Their book's speak of gluttony ,
mistaken as just overeating............
who live's in excess and obesity ??
Their book's speak of vanity ,
looked at as self conceit.........
but you only want to look better
to make me feel worse about me
so you can feel better about you........

Their book's and belief's have me always a subordinate
I suppose that show's whom is truly ignorant
They say ignorance is controllable , don't teach them the truth.......
but if that is true..........who controll's you ??

broken promises , broken treaties , broken people , broken arrows
now is not the time to feel sorrow ,
our earth mother needs us more than ever ,
to bond our connection they have tried to sever .............
