Society

What is Society
A set of rules to follow
or ways to live a life
What others feel you should do
standards , some basic, some civil others federal
How can you be yourself, an individual
free from chains, morals, beliefs
all from a book, a paper, constitution, 1776
but today is 2026
Societies path follows a brick road to a picket fence, or
a basket parked by the line giving a hot meal,
a rock hard sidewalk, a car covered window,
tap tap tap, gotta move
Where does the path lead
Gotta choose, dust the dirt off
make a change for another place in
Society

The plot

She didn’t reach his standard
Too brash, too immature
He wouldn’t dare to risk it
But still, he wasn’t sure
Although there was attraction
But it was very much controlled
Until he gained the stature
That made him sure and bold
So, that’s when he decided
To reveal and to express
The feelings he had always felt
But dared not to confess
Because there was so much at stake
He was careful about his standing
His status played a major part
And he could be quite demanding
So, when he did the great reveal
He also had a plan
He would make sure she understood
He was that special man
And even though she hadn’t changed
He sure had changed a lot
The man he now had come to be
Would now execute his plot
He’d hold her to his standard
With rules and with decrees
And force her to respect his place
While ignoring all her pleas.

Premium Member Nature's Rules for Autumn

Withered leaves no longer cling to trees
They're rustled until released by a breeze
To Nature's rules, Autumn must adhere
and become a trodden pathway for deer
Aspen on the hillside will be stripped bare
Their ghostly trunks seem not to care
for Spring's greenery, they will proudly wear.

My Rules to Win

Rules:

1. Never forget who left you.
2. Never respond immediately.
3. Talk less as possible.
4. Walk slowly but never backward.
5. Speak less about yourself.
6. Never show your emotions.
7. Be calm in every situation.

Premium Member Poetic Growth

I love contests and hate them too
Often because I don’t follow rules

It’s all in fun I really believe that
Even if I lose its writing I grasp

I find I grow when I embrace and enter
Though trying new forms feels like a splinter

Has entered my brain caused me stress
Very rare for my poem to be the best

But looking within I can see more out
And poet friends often teach me how

To meet new goals in forms you know
I don’t have to win I just have to grow

El nino rules

In Southern hemisphere,'
Winter flowing past here,
At Jack Frost we peer,'
Happy smiles do appear,
Winter sunshine is sheer,
Roses need a pruning shear,
Moonlit nights all clear,
Not much snow this year,
 Not a ski bunny, dear,
Drought is what we fear,
Of farmers' plight we hear,
Send more rain in our sphere,
Looks like El Nino gear.

Rules for Angels

Are there rules directing angels,
its possible that's true
they go about their business,
unseen by me and you.

Perhaps one is your guardian,
protecting you from harm
a special kind of power,
not unlike, a lucky charm.

For those who've been anointed
its heaven, where you reside,
someplace way far above us,
from there, they do preside.

We're not allowed to see you
a rule, that seems to be,
just know that I'd be thankful,
if there's one, protecting me!

Premium Member Fido Rules the Home

Fido promptly sent me back to the store
I had brought home off-brand kibble
I had no choice, I had to buy the expensive stuff said Lenore
Fido would not sniff it or even try a nibble

Premium Member Rules of Life

Never let a good day go astray
by brooding over a bad yesterday.
Relax, go with the flow
and learn to just let it go.

What others think of you is none of your business,
though it helps you understand the value of forgiveness.
Don't worry about those who are quick to condemn.
The best thing to do is to simply ignore them.

We can never predict misfortune
or the adversity that life can bring.
So, it's best to have patience. Give it time,
because time heals almost everything.

Be sure to pay attention,
be vigilant and aware
that those who are unhappy
are those who want to compare.

Don't be easily lured
into feelings of dismay.
The only person you should try to outdo
is the person you were yesterday.

It's okay to have doubt
and not have things figured out.
Relax, stay calm, take care,
and know that, in time, you'll get there.

Yes, life can be full of slings and arrows
and overall "crappiness".
Just remember it's on you:
only you are in charge of your happiness.

Life is short. We're only here for awhile.
Enjoy it while you have it, and don't forget to smile!

Premium Member There are certain rules

I lay down
 the framework
of free verse

and a continuing
relationship

Rule one is set in granite:
dance like you are on fire
through the uncut lawn
of my forgotten backyard
and revel in your tripping
over the weeds and dandelions

Rule two is simpler:
laugh unfiltered;
no one special is listening,
after all

Rule three:
this isn't poetry,
this isn't a diary,
this isn't Druidism,
nor transcendentalism,
and my watercolor runs
its muddied rivers of mistakes
in truer tributaries

Be awake! Peter Pan
my flying dream,
my boy never stopped wishing
that the best is yet ahead!

Rules Are Rules!

They make our social life organized.
I respect rules. I dislike fake proudness
Treat everyone fairly.
consistently one should put these rules into practice.
That lead us and guide us safely through life in organized ways.
Rules are an integral part of our social and economic life and Behavior.
As well, main part of the functioning of society.
However, savages don't want order and tidiness.
A savage is like a balloon,
appearing huge to people.
But, in reality, he's almost nothing positive.
Full and shiny on the outside, empty and ugly on the inside.
He has no noble purpose. Nor true real faith.
Arrogant and conceited!
The most despicable of people are those who despise others.
Rule above all.
I love rules!
God created us equal.
Yet, some people are abusers and racists
exploit others and treat them badly.
They are hypocrites, flattering the powerful and the rich.
They are selfish and exploitative of the weak, the poor, and the needy.
----
I do respect rules
I dislike the savages
rules are rules that's all.

Premium Member Rules, Rules, Rules

  	       So many rules,
                 Such utter folly
               Rules, rules, rules
                 How can one stay jolly

                Rules at home
                  Rules in school
                Rules in the workplace
                   All too cruel

                Reductio ad absurdum*
                   My guiding light
Just abolished all the rules ~
                    That feels about right!

*In case it matters, 'Reductio ad absurdum'
demonstrates that a proposition is true by
showing that denying it leads to an absurd
                outcome or conclusion.
