New year Eve delight

Midnight's zero hour draws ever near,
With bated breath, we await the cheer for new year .
Unfazed by cold, our spirits run high,
As nostalgia whispers sweet and bitter sighs.

Everyone hustles for parties, friends, and family
Gathering to cherish moments, dancing to music's melody.
The celebration euphoric, a grand adieu to the past,
Honoring 2024, as it leaves us at last.
Bonfires blaze, cheering the new year's entry, with glee,
firecrackers' burst ,a spectacle to behold in wild  spree
Revellers fill the streets, a cacophony of delight,
A standing ovation for 2025, shining bright.
With promises renewed, we solicit blessings divine
For peace and happiness in the world to refine .
As the Sun rises above the horizon with radiant light,
We embark on a fresh journey, filled with delight.

Spent Hours

Softer than a whisper of a dream
my paper moon
has found no homestead
The morning dew
sees the dazzling of rain

When the party finishes before time
There's none who you can absolve you
Blurry revellers empty the streets
and the turn around
kicks like a harlequin
to scratch your gilded fears away

Premium Member Mardi Gras

Mardi Gras has finally come to town
Bourbon Street is getting ready for the best party around
Let the party begin as the neon lights get the revellers dancing through the streets
Music from various artists with unique and powerful beats
The windows and the doors from balconies fling open with no time to spare
Brightly coloured beads fall through the night air
Police on horses try to maintain crowd control
Thousands of people enjoying their alcohol-fuelled stroll The street looks like a giant rainbow with all the colourfully dressed people abound
The trek becomes an obstacle course with trinkets strewn across the ground
I survived the night thanks to my wife who kept me in line
Truly a night to remember until the end of time

New Year Musings

New Year musings
===============

As time flies,
days pass by ,
We bade adieu to the old year
A new dawn awakes .

The wheel of time never stops,
 Nothing lasts but sweet memories
That reverbate in our hearts.

Let us erase heartaches ,and sufferings
and learn from past lessons ,
With celebrations galore everywhere ,
The revellers bubble with excitements ,
Smiling and squealing in delight till midnight ,
thronging to streets to ring in the new year.

We make a list of promises scribbling on the clipboard,
Seeking God's grace on us .
Let the New Year usher in great hopes and possibilities .

The yellow lambent moon
sent its rays across the shimmering sea.
A balmy breeze moved the waves
in a rolling fashion towards the beach.
Crabs hurried and dived into the foam.
Distant horns sounded as they passed
A mighty lighthouse, that sent its warning.

It was a peaceful night, as I sat alone
On the clean sand of the long beach.
From afar, I could hear revellers drinking,
And some even ventured to sing some sea songs.

I felt at peace, alone, on the vast beach.
No emotions resonated into heartbreak,
For I knew my dear wife was safe at home.
She’d worry about this world full of evil,
But there are things that could not be helped.
Time for me to go home and relax,
But for a moment I sat still in the warm breeze,
And watch the waves rolling creating foam.
I stood up and turned resolutely home,
To enjoy my love of love in peace.

A Nightingale Sings of Dawn's Glory
A Nightingale sings in Berkeley Square, Mayfair
Visitors from all over the world head there
Tweets for treats in the realm of London city
Come, hear the Nightingale sing a sweet ditty.

Lovers fall in love 'neath silvery moonlight
Enchanted by mystic music of the night
Lost in the sensation of love's vibration
Magic moments of blissful fascination.

In glory of dawn the bird's up with the Lark
Flies to Trafalgar Square for a fountain spa
Freshens herself up ready for start of day
Before the many revellers come her way.

From dawn to dusk the Nightingale sings with flair
Above Mayfair's green garden in Berkeley Square.

Wasted

The single shoe, looking forlorn,
The heel scuffed and slightly worn.
Lying, as if abandoned, on the street,
at the busy junction where two roads meet.

Only yards away the crumpled form,
lifeless, staring, yet still warm.
Vomit matted in her hair,
revellers pass without a care.

One too many, they all assume,
as misted neon pierces the gloom.
A night to remember, they all agreed,
fuelled by alcohol, crack and speed.

As her young life slowly ebbs away,
abandoned by her friends, she lay.
Victim to an illegal high,
her parents left to wonder, Why?

Winter Revels

Old Lang Syne meaningfully with gusto
Hogmanay celebrations in full swing
Revellers savour whiskeys afterglow
Watching square dancers doing highland fling

Laden snow clouds have accumulated
Inky heavens to sheer mountain ski top
As frozen misty hailstones enshrouded
onwards from midnight chimes, it did not stop

Mechanisation had ground to standstill
So stranded most where, no alarm to raise
Prompted mountaineers try to ski downhill
Technology cut off they did appraise

Happily acknowledging extra days
Revellers exclaimed jubilant hoorays

October sun how it catches my eye
as it casts a gold glow each morning
It rises in the autumnal sky so high
I cherish each day the sun’s dawning

October sun how it catches my eye
it resembles an enormous pumpkin
Halloween revellers will soon pass by
wanting gifts from this country bumpkin

October sun how it catches my eye
As it scintillates in the bare trees
How quickly the seasons pass us by
soon will come winter’s harsh freeze

Premium Member A New Year

The carcasses of rockets litter grass
dark hours advanced since midnight bells have chimed
and revellers stood watching seconds pass
to cheer and kiss to strains of 'Auld Lang Syne'.
Outside, from morbid black to pleasing blue
the day pulls off the sheets, the low sun yawns,
the same as yesterday but somehow new
as from last year the final page is torn.
We, too, like this new day must follow suit
rise from our east and shine in hopes afresh
as dreams and aspirations now take root
and words in resolutions become flesh.

New year, blank page, fresh start with open mind
look forward, onwards, up, but not behind.

The Stalker Version 2

the scene is set, the banqueting hall is not looking so shoddy
plenty of wild flowers to hide the smell of unwashed bodies

the ladies in their finery drink gin with gusto ......they presume
the fancy looking men will drink whatever they can consume

then the trumpets sounded,

heralding that food was being brought in ..... in silver dishes
knaves in all their glory carried platters of meat, chicken, fishes.

this was snatched by the revellers, who rammed into their mouths great chunks of meat.
around the table on the floor were bones by the score
which the eaters had thrown at their feet dogs waited, salivating, to pounce on the floor

suddenly another fanfare sounded ....another platter was carried In
this one was covered with a domed lid, what was so intriguing within?

with aplomb the lord made a speech with a drunken slur
was ranting on about stalkers, how unpleasant they were

with artistic flair he removed the lid

all went quiet ....even the dog's slunk away and hid

sitting on a bed of cabbage was a severed head

this Stalker will stalk no more he said

The Balancing Act

The balancing act

New Year’s Eve how fine it was
Red wine and grilled meat
An exhibitionist dance alone
On wooden legs
Fell into a lake of wine almost
Drowned till someone pulled the plug
And he waded ashore to the strand of
Safe temperance
Today he sits in the corner of the restaurant
A plate of soup and a bottle of water
Around him, tables are full of revellers who
Try to stretch
The New Year Eve just a bit longer.
He looks at the people and wonders
Who will be alive next year?

Blessing the Bud

And then the day’s lights first touched your eyes
Your little fingers trying to clutch the air
Are you still in that darkness?
That deafening silence still ringing in your ears?

The world around you is rejoicing
With the utmost happiness she ever felt
Rejoicing are the trees, the sky, the mountain streams too
They have heard the tidings of Paradise you spelt

Are you crying my sweet lady? Oh for you
Let me bring the Moon down, the stars
Little butterflies must dance around you

Now shhh! All you revellers, keep mum
Look how gently sleep sits upon her eyes
Lemme give soft swings to her cradle
Our queen is on her way to a dewy sleep

And before I leave for a long journey
In the wilderness, My Lord, to you I pray
Let me carry the soft warmth of my new-born baby
Till the last rays of the sun go down with the day
