With Fingers Crossed

With Fingers crossed I sail alone
To find what now awaits for me
No net is there in the unknown
If failure comes, I will not be

To find what now awaits for me
I go where I've not gone before
If failure comes, I will not be
If I cannot in life endure

I go where I've not gone before
To find a place where I can build
If I cannot in life endure
I hope at least to have a shield

To find a place where I can build
Something that stands both time and test
I hope at least to have a shield
To finish now life's silent quest

Something that stands both time and test
No net is there in the unknown
To finish now life's silent quest
With fingers crossed I sail alone

Angel Reese plays basketball for the Chicago Sky
She talks trash like an overwrought magpie

The media compares her to the great Caitlin Clark
~ though almost all Angel’s shots miss their mark

Premium Member a modern girls delay

(a disastrous morning Sonnet)

I am the very model of a girl who’s late for morning meal,
my charger failed, the printer jammed, the morning’s start has been surreal
I lost a scrunchy and a shoe, I had to use some dry shampoo
my Keurig had no k-cups too, so I’m feeling like a total shrew!

Our pre-dawn jog went really well, but now the morning's gone to hell
I couldn’t find clean underwear, I’m desperate to charge my cell,
I got some soap in my left eye, I stubbed my toe and nearly cried
While brushing teeth and hair in haste, I wonder why I even try.

Anna’s got an attitude; she’s not someone who’s normally rude
her hookup so ‘experimental’ has an irregular sleep-in schedule
how’s she going to get to class if she’s babysitting sleeping-lass
I guess I’m not the only one, who’s schedules simply come undone.

I woke her with a gentle voice and soothed her out—we had no choice
My morning happened to sideways go—but it fueled this grandiloquent tale of woe!

A song for this:
Something Stupid by Michael Bublé and Reese Witherspoon

O Battle Rage

Sing out loud
like mighty beasts
do comrades & me,
in no retreat,
of battles olden
nor others to be
so no other cannon-fodder,
of passion & quest,
curry within,
like tormented Reese,
haunting memory’s
manifest.
And lay no new
grim wreath.

Can Absence Rekindle My Flame

It's a puzzle with one missing piece,
it won't let me complete this game;
sweetness is not found in a Reese
candy bar, it's such an urge to tame!

I resist each and every temptation
for a day or two without a caress,
and staring at happy lovers kiss...
I get emotional and cry in pain!

Can Absence Rekindle My Flame

It's a puzzle with one missing piece,
it won't let me complete this game;
sweetness is not found in a Reese
candy bar, it's such an urge to tame!

I resist each and every temptation
for a day or two without a caress,
and looking at happy lovers kiss...
I get emotional and cry in pain!

Can absence rekindle my flame?
I throw pebbles in the blue lake,
making another wish for my sake;
why do roses smell all the same?

Can absence rekindle my flame,
can it undo what I really became...
if it vanished to feed my vanity?
A pretty girl stares at me and smiles,
it's a whiff of scented wind that promises
little or nothing that leads to certainty!

I stand still and not smile,
could it be real or a mere delusion?
Should I resent the intrusion?
Oh, her smile stretches for a mile!
oh, it charms, it delight me;
I doubt that it deceives me!

Can absence rekindle my flame,
restart the passion long lost to time?
No desire is greater than mine:
I've put to rest sadness and blame!

Premium Member Terror in the Seventh Sea

The monster carried a copper saber in his left hand, giving me a fright.
He was slashing an imaginary foe with a bronze sword in his right.
Upon closer inspection I saw this skeleton’s all-knowing green eye
For a pirate who was long deceased, he was definitely a scary guy.

I stepped out of the way and watched him run another through.
The guy gave a gasp, collapsed, and fell into a funk of solid blue.
Skeleton pirate heard my gasp and hissed “My name is Hank!”
Within seconds he was making another child walk the plank.

The child was bound and gagged, so I jumped into the water too.
It was the most gorgeous ocean, with ribbons of periwinkle blue.
The child was grateful to be saved, and told his story to the police.
I tried to back him up, but it did not work. He introduced himself as Reese.

Since the government won't define 'woman'
Let me help: They're demonstrably super-human

Until recently, thought to be closer to God than men
'Progressives' aim for 'equality' ~ ahem ...

Cal Flitter dumps litter in haste,
Ms Witherspoon savors the taste
  of fast food, she'll throw
  trash out her window.
Cal or Reese are just bad for the waste.

Brexit, Brexit, Mon Amour

Shall I compare thee unto a crate of beer,
or, if not that, then unto washing powder?
Today I shun all things that are austere;
soft tones must yield to songs that are far louder.
May's shandy was for working men too sweet.
Newcastle Brown for them is much more dandy.
Reese-Mogg appealed but to the high elite.
It's Boris now who's dealing out the candy.
His soap suds as detergents wash much whiter
and his packaging's so appealing to the eye.
My desire 's for something that's much brighter
than the dowdy hues of Mr. Corbyn's dye.
Boris we hail victor, for'tis he who's won the day.
To his product though a question. Who art thou anyway?

From John To Sarah

I received your message, Mother —
and the courage you gave me,
served me well
Our terrifying fate, we have properly discerned:
the machines’ termination decree
		      has been permanently overturned
We humans lit a temporal bomb fuse,
and watched those tin toaster bastards burn
Us living souls do honor the bravely deceased,
above all —
my fearless father, Tech corporal Kyle Reese
I lovingly thank you, Mother,
no words could ever express
my deepest gratitude ...
		You sacrificed your life
	to hide my identity
Sarah, you died
machine oppression free
That maternal valor
have served this hardened soldier well
A part of me died on the inside,
ever since that pox day in battle you fell
But now, I ...
John, your son can breath again
I place flowers and good news
	upon your grave,
as we ring loudly the liberty bells —
We smashed those scrap metal bastards to hell!
