HOW CAN I PRETEND ?
PART 4
Innocence, zest, curiosity
remain intact protected
crimson hymns I earned
when Divinity composed
a skin of cheetah brown
amused at a white chin
where my masculine’s
fuzzy beard ought to be
HE raucously laughed
aloud at my horrored
‘Don’t You Dare !
O Great One !’
Then asked ‘What will you do?’
I meekly replied : ‘How can I
pretend ?’ which was instantly
rewarded with a claim of
‘That’s my Girl !’
To leave forever this
evolving Globe of
potentiality instructing
from another constellation
how Hearts are to commune
with robots or skullcaps
or election sweaters putting
forward theories of Peacock
Republics, my foot ! a cosmic
activist gone haywire
I turn or wait or patiently
watch your angled angst
royal regret, pea pleads
weak emojis, boastful
escapes to water caverns
You have to do what I
did to earn your colours
true without Pretence
‘s’ replacing mishap
fourth letter here as
four is my number true
Presence slithers like
a Plumed Serpent
she steps forward
dualing with Pretence
coffined cold

Death’s undisturbed progress.
And a doted-upon songstress:
In the musical battle field, Matchless Tigress,
Now being taught unforgettable lessons by Skin Cancer,
Her concerned doctors all robbed of an answer;
Likely now to linger only for a few days
In line with the prophecies of carried out x-rays.
The blotches on her skin unbelievably catholic
To dare a long gaze at them, first some alcoholic
Each of them over time has become bizarre
All of them raucously shouting “Here, we are!”
A fall out of musical songstress experimentations
With the skin lightening,
The sequel to her importations
Of the dermis–revealing;
Previously wondrous and mindset promotional
A veritable time bomb and weapon unconventional.

wake up
arrogant bird
black velvet blot
calling now raucously down the wind
light is barely caressing the patch work hilltops
snow creeps minutely
backing off from the slumbering valley
a new spring chorus will soon commence
you self inflated huckster
rush to grab the top most branch
arranging a choir of cacophony
out-sounding the melodious songsters
attempting to mate
through the rusty gate imitations.

I like to dance
To writhe and wriggle
On ceaseless crests
Beneath my bottom
I like to swing
From side to side
Sublime swells
Anchoring angst
I like to gyrate
Between boulders
Of liquid laughs
Caressing chuckles
I like to undulate
Along my abdomen
Rippling raucously
Jibing jollily
I like to float
Away to anywhere
Without a worry
Where we wander
I like to heave
To buck and bray
To brave the briny
Scathing spray
Wild white horses
Can't keep me cowed
My deep darling
And I, are an item.

I peek through the keyhole
and try to smell
freedom drifting on a steel breeze--
My window vibrates with distant echos of laughter
and the lone moan of a rusted lawn mower.
The cool, trickling creek is once again hidden
by the emerging tender leaf.
Silver quivering shards of light
come shooting faster than bullets and
raucously ricochet around my room.
Gravity works on the melting snow on the distant mountains,
little rivulets race to satiate the wild flowers in the valley.
--If you open my door, I will go there with you.

PETS
I am upset:
When I asked Dad for a pet
He raucously laughed,
Told me I was daft,
And repeated my request
To every guest -
Who was thoroughly amused
Making me embarrassed and confused!
If it's not absurd
to want a bird,
Nor funny
to ask for a bunny,
Normal to wish
for a goldfish,
Natural of course
to yearn for a horse,
Acceptable to be moany
for a little pony,
Even at that
to desire a cat,
or a rat,
or a dog
or a frog,
For goodness sake
Even a snake!
Why then is it so preposterous
To ask for a Rhinoceros?
I am confused.

Night has cast her darkened net
over the sphere of the bold,
gently laying out the black
starred with orbs foretold
Sheets of mist bedaub the earth
glistening strands of green,
second shades stain the trees
daubed with a greying sheen
Golden flowers rise to greet the night
opening their petals of soul,
swaying slowly with no might
within this a story unfolds
Cicadas croon to the southern Imps
it echoes along a tight string,
the grasshoppers not to be outdone
begin to raucously sing
Eventide sweeps across the skyline
in moving shadows of light,
in it dip the sleeves of my soul
within is the body I write
Across the cusp a half moon of life
begins to spill into day,
retreating from the growing bright
down my being must lay

The Match-Stick
The patent potential of a match-stick
I saw seething ravagely through the farmland
Crawling conflagration all alike
Beholding the hapless and helpless mind
The power of a match-stick
I knew well when in dire need
Picking up the match-box in shock
Not a single stick could find
Oh the raw rice raucously submerged
While I scrounged for a match-stick
To bring me out of the cataclysm
Before my muscular bag blows in catastrophe
Praise to my extant toils
When on a drifting table
I found a match-stick
Aiding the healing of my excruciating hunger.

Back-breaking work
Sweat in my eyes
Drop the hoe
Look at the castle
It's mighty towers
With magnificent flags
Fluttering in the slight breeze
The millionth time
I wonder what it's like
Being a princess
No work
Everything at your fingertips
Elegant balls
Stunning gowns
A handsome prince
Heaps of food
Priceless jewels
Worth enough to buy
A year's feed
If only I am a princess
But it is only in my dream's dream
Can I be one
I sigh
And pick up the hoe
Continue to dream to be
A princess
And not a lowly
Peasant.
Spread out my arms
Fabric on my skin
Nod my thanks
Walk to the window
And stare at
The endless clap
Of sea against rock
Longing to be
Someone else
Something else
Other than a princess
Wanting to earn my food
Live my life
Feel the happiness
Of accomplishment
Marry who I love
Run as I will
Laugh raucously
Sing at the top of my lungs
Even the lowly peasants
Have more freedom than me
Although moneyless
They laugh
Sing
Love
Live
They have things
More precious
Than a rich and beautiful
Princess.

Oh, the red bits of swollen tongue
upon the gray of maple have plumped
like the cheeks of small children red with run!
The bangs of pussy willow frond
will soon tickle the noses of man swept dust,
baring the fragrance of balsam-pine leavings
scattered with the golden tinsel
of Christmas garland.
The ripening earth cracks smiles
toothy with tulip spears and narcissus cones.
The wind is sweet with kisses
and the jays laugh raucously
in the grasping branches of maple.
The dust of days past dances joyously onward
dreaming of cozy eddies amongst the violets.
Oh, Spring of the golden tongue
play poet to my pen.

Cacophonus crow
Raucously robbing robins..
Pandemonium
Pitiful petunias pray..
Salivating snail..
Duck delicacy
Sweet spring surprises
Doe dining delicately
Nature nourishes
Hungry hawk hovers
Quiet quail quakes and quivers
Corn cover conceals
Winners and losers
Natures game of survival
No reprieves granted
Won no. 10 spot

i.
I had lost the entirety
of my muchness
I watched a white rabbit
dart in my peripheral
as walkabout found my feet,
the Red Queen laughs raucously
dangling me at the end of a Scepter
ii.
Tweedle Dee and Tweedle dum
know I am not Alice,
and that this is not my home
iii.
Arnhem calls to me
as the earth trembles
briefly,
I feel the beating spirit
through the bush,
and it tempts me with magic
flowing from the Dreamtime
iv.
so I wait
stroking the rainbow serpent
but ever watchful
of escape to a place
my heartbeats home
in the land of Never and Oz
