Premium MemberBeauty of Writing

Beauty of the writer within
Heaven’s wonder
Soulful finish
Words shout out
Journey
Distance from a far
Horizon to reach
Words after words
Sentences being the escort
Emotions bound
Heart expelling
Storyteller verse
Time with the need to write
Captivation delight
Quorum focused
Fed up
Need to say
Beyond the essay
Day and night
Sometimes writing while in a plight
Can’t be silent
Yet humble
Beauty within
Thick and then
No pretend
Finish at the end

Premium MemberPurim Serum

Purim Serum
Reverse the decree, costume quorum,
Dour outlooks, ingrates can wait,
To “V’Al HaNissim” respond “Amen!”
‘Til Shichur or REM inebriate,
Confusing “Baruch Mordechai & Arur Haman”,
Choose an opponent as a receiver of being considerate,
Send Mishloach Manos, listen quietly to Ahem!
Uplift with LeChaim! Drink Schnaps to hydrate,
To a Purim Seudah gather friends,
Imbibe wine! Purim Torah relate,
Hamantaschen savor as Oneg’s the end,
Be generous to a fault, an Oni sate,
Is Purim Serum bourbon?
Or Simcha shared? Requires Iyon, Ruminate!
This poem may be wordy surplus, excess, abundant,
Which means “A lot!” Not at all “Definate”

Premium MemberThe Evergreen Tree

The Evergreen Tree

Upon the tree, I set my sight,
And see, to my delight
(With head tilted up,
And hand shading eyes)
In the boughs
Sagging from the snow
Birds of various colours
Perched on the branches
Highlighted against the green
Under blue skies,
And I am elated to suck in
The crisp air of country living.

My wonderment never ceases
How freely the birds communicate
To each in chirps and whistles,
As if a quorum to hold a meeting.
This tree is their sanctuary.
And I think about the tradition
And am disgusted with myself.
They who chop down the evergreens
For seasonal use, to please their vanity
Are enemies of the environment.
‘Why can’t I buy an artificial one instead?’
And sheath the axe and exit.

Premium MemberAlliteration For Poets

Alliteration always awesome
Ballad beyond barnyard basics
Crystalline calls careful consonants,

Diamante delivers deeply
Enthusiasm excites eager ears,
Fanciful frolicking faerie

Generously gives grateful glee
Hyping haiku to heavenly heights,
Imagery and imagination

Jubilantly jumping joyfully,
Kimo kindles king-sized kingpin,
Lamenting the lily-livered lunacy

Momentous muse modulates melody,
Necromancer normalizes Neverland,
Opulent Opalescent orchestras opt

To pollute poetry previously pristine.
Quixotic quorum of questioners
Respond and recover rhymes rapidly

Serendipitous sentimentality
Turns timely tanka traitorously toward
Unmistakably understated Uranus,
Vindicating verses vilifying Vashti.

Whacking wannish warblers west,
‘Xaggerating ‘Xtemperaneous X’tra special poems
Yet yielding a yeomanly yearning toward
A zealous zany zingaroo of zest.

Thank You All

A true tale I will tell of an old timid man
Who was known for his strange, funny rhymes.
But his doggerel junk had this man in a funk
For he knew it would ne’r see the Times.

“Could he find someone kind who would help him,” he thought
“Are there those in this world who might care?”
Then a forum of poets, a quorum of "know its"
Gathered 'round who had oodles to share.

So he wrote; although scared, and they read, then they shared
Lots of tips that would help him along.
Now his humor still flows in both rhyme and in prose
But his meter and form are now strong.

Just imagine the shame, had this man quit the game
And just buried his gift way back then.
It took courage ‘tis true but the joy that he knew
Soon grew greater than gold in the end!

Political Dynamics

political dynamics

Is it not so... that the winters are so dry to fail
The produce, as of the day we deny the curse
As If ever there's no a victor and a victim, the
Former rejoice as the later laments in agony...

Denial is ever fixed in the green eyed monster
Whom sniff its prey before the dury and leave
Eager to bite, calls for a quorum to reinstate
Zidera and bring back forth the foregone shame

How lame is the act of foreordination and the
Bill signed behind closed doors, denied funfare
To the executive order as of customs, brothers
Cheer and posse his deceitful wiles, A vigilante.

Note how the prescription heralds violence on
And the so called veneer of human rights claim
Ills upon masses. Are we human? Is there ever
Fixed rights? The stereotypical "us" humane...

No!... we aren't, for we been brought seventeen
Years back and I am tired ululating so energetic
To the rinsed political manifestations which on
And on ever brings us no room of expression....

The Duel On Monday

The Duel on Monday
Mark Miller © 09/01/2013

Brain woke today sound of gun shots as a dog walked in

Barks from trains regain my strength for another day filed: distilled feelings

Finished duel last night man named Lansky distinguished appearance hopelessness,

Criticized outlook town folks skewed version of cynicism in mans defeatism

Wonder why people make such horrible mistakes based on needful hates

Nausea stomach aches possible life takes share of stakes in each bet made in haste

Looked outside thought I saw sun say high waved look said goodbye

Still thinking what we truly know of you or who or the dog next store named blue

Do you have clue?

Medication taken emotion still shaken-ed by memory leftover from nightmares stray

Where to go or why to stay he states no other options available its Monday

Spirits heading low in sadden gloomy glow outlook betrayed by dim deadened display

Lost shadow left by kitchen window lost hidden hollow hole by sundown he'll show

Just thoughts gone by through minds tone in status quorum with unconscious quarrel

Don'T Buy It

Don't buy it,
Scatter the wishes,
However (desperate and maligned),
For all of them,
The (murmur) and the (mesmerized),
Youth-paid homage,
Ill-afforded, unattended and
Graciously subversive,
By aged animals nodding
Approval against the (backdrop)
Of their worst intentions,
Hope that eloquence, depth,
Perceived connection and
Immersions of familiarities
Will get everyone laid,
Plush boy smiles, admits his
Voyeurism needs polishing,
(Languishing),
Sip from scourge's
Crystal goblet,
Teardrops by the glassful,
Ah, the epiphany,
It's a gay quorum,
A foreign swath of fashion sense,
Pickled on the petunia,
The green, sunny willow,
Swaying, to drunken breeze,
And smiles, complacencies,
At least they have
The good (sense) and fortune,
Rouge, textured rhythms,
Bass-plucking fires,
Snapping horns dotting the air,
Straight mutes coddling
The wicked goods,
And snare and pound,
The beat drives straight,
No need getting off,
When you're on baby!

Into the Hive

A meeting of the quorum
We’re takin’ this place by storm
Got to get back to the farm
By hook or by crook

We’re young, free and insane
Clothes all creased and stained
Our attitudes inane
And we don’t read books

Into the hive we go
And that’s where we’ll stay
Got a feeling we’re gonna
Get something done today

You wave this and I’ll wave that
Complain at the drop of a hat
Think I saw a diplomat –
Let’s follow his car

Hey, got any Depressions or wars?
Like the people who came before
Need to hook up with some righteous cause
To know who we are

So into the hive we go
And that’s where we’ll stay
Got a feeling we’re gonna
Get something done today

A moment right now is at hand
What it means, we don’t understand
Maybe let’s invite the whole band
Play songs by Free

Image is everything
It’s better than any brass ring
So plan our unmasking
On MSNBC

And into the hive we will go…

Alice Was a Lovely Little Sperm

ALICE WAS A LOVELY LITTLE SPERM

Alice was a lovely little sperm,
                                 Proud of her slender flagellum arm;
                                         In pearly white semen
                                         Lived a nasty cayman
Who ate her up to make a quorum.

Need decision now

Only one direction possible

Possibilities endless

An Excercise In Alliteration

The garrulous, Greek grape gatherers,
Joined joyously with jocund japes,
The olive pickers and Ostrich plucker’s,
Celebrating the seasons success in song.

The querulous quiver of musical quavers,
From a quorum of quality wine quaffer’s
Reverberated robustly round the room,
And resonated rhythmically from the roofs rafters.

An altercation arose amongst some aggressive Athenians,
Averting an armed argument was avoided adroitly,
By brave, bold buskers, brusquely berating their bombast,
And loudly and laudably lamenting such Loutish leanings.
Personally I drank my Retsina and went back to my Hotel,

Stories

Stories are mixture of emotions
Ethics, thoughts, messages in verbal motion
Threads of ages, more mature in milestones
Grandparents’ modulations, mimics and memories
Originated as a medium of self-expression
Flourished as a wand of promotion
Reaching to urban and rural world
Conquering trust and quorum
Introduced as a taste of creativity
Bloomed into a ubiquitous flavour
Energizing kids, kith and kin with kittens and king
Boredom was kicked out with kinetic knock.
Supple of fables, graphics and animations
From dawn to dusk; elder to younger; it’s a companion.

Amended Programme

Amended Programme

A lonely note rings out, soft yet clear
Piercing through the deserted landscape
Its tenor wafts over all
Yet none stir at its sorrowful tone

It recalls, all too well, the deafening octaves
Of a time, so recent, yet wiped away forever
A town indelibly etched in black
To the violent blasts of flamboyant horns

Its companions pillaged, their beautiful voices drowned out.
Strings of hair, ivory shards, brass bells
All that remain of an assemblage so grand.

And so, from the royal quorum, the programme has been altered.
Just that, but not erased.
From a symphony so grand, to a solo in a deserted land,
The legacy endures.

The guest plays on.

Never before has he starred.

Dinner Theater

Dinner Theater

Into the menu smiling
cheeks reflect candlelit
white tablecloth islands
amid the carpeted scurry
of busboys and waiters
in the backdrop of our night.

Tinkling laughter and ice cubes
accompany depths of conversation
overheard, yet unheard
from couples in quorum
around the raised platform
at the center of the room.

Noises diminish with
dimming lights as
all eyes are drawn
to the spot center-stage
except mine
which remain upon you.
