Pounces Poems

Others in Our love space

Watching us harden like fallen snow.
Its pure turns into dirt
We're half dead inside
We start a creed of recovery ,
A stain massacre will be the death of me.
Pretending we're built on solid ground.
Never really settling down
Slowly weathering away
Monsters in my dreams become real today.
A phantom start sleeping in our bed we made.
Waiting for us to give up.
He pounces
why we
let others in
our love space,

Not me, messing up something so pretty
Letting someone esle in our love space.
He still wants you.
I
Wanted you too
share your chest of lairs gold with me.
Will you serve it on my tomb.
Plates of rust and mold.
Lemon squeezed , all trash out of me.

Only thing left is a broken love disease.
Discard my drained soul.
Lust for others will be your treat
when you see me leave.
Throw me in dirt with broken bones.
See how long it takes to decompose.

Bedrock keeping hope afloat.
You're on the phone when I get home
When stones starts to slip away.
We slowly weather away
With the phantom that started our decay.

Premium MemberGAME OF CAT AND ROBIN

my russian blue cat
static like a statue
on the sun-warmed
window ledge

laser-focused eyes
fixate
on the gum tree
leaves tremble
then still

shrewd cat waits
wet nose
smearing the glass

a robin’s fleeting shadow
darts across
a pool of sunlight
diving into
the center of the light
then swooping back again
in a blur of motion

my cat pounces
chasing the robin
around
the carpeted floor

over and over
he paws at
the imaginary catch
but each time
elusive robin
slips away

Darkest Evening

This frail feeling of worldly fate
Drowning and fast fading, mortal and degrading

This voice, his lips on my ear; whispering,
Hurtful hate; feeding on fear

These choices, crucial, turning life into a surreal blur of chaos
Dreadful moments just waiting to occur

The darkness pounces on my soul wrapping and clawing its way to my mind,
There is something very valuable to find

For a most Holy Spirit is guarding my hallowed heart
And the daunting demons have yet to part

Anxiety The Monster

Anxiety consumes.
IT eats
And IT eats
devouring,
until the only substance left is drool.
A drool so cold and numb,
one could say IT hurts.
IT dribbles down the brain
looking at memories,
looking at moments,
ripping them and moving to the next.
IT leaves IT'S exhausting trail while going back to IT'S hiding place.
In the back of the mind IT sits, getting hungry. The anguish is almost addicting.
One more thought circles back and once again anxiety pounces,
always hungry,
always empty,
never satisfied.

Paws on the windowsill, waiting for me
Ears perked up at the jingle of keys
Treats disappear with lightning speed

Dirt on the floor, but I don’t mind
Over and over, he’s one of a kind
Goofy grin, tongue out, tail wagging behind

Torn-up bear, stuffing all around
Once his favorite, now battle-worn and brown
You’d think it still squeaked by the way he pounces down

Premium MemberKILLER ON THE LOOSE

I
abhor
the way that
you’ve silently
stalked me in my house
I have begged you to leave
But you steadfastly refused
I’ve just found you in my bedroom
I’m rooted to the spot in terror
And yell so loudly my son rushes in

Help!
I scream.
My son looks
At my white face.
He bravely squares up,
corners the intruder
then pounces like a cat.
“Gotcha”! He says in triumph
As he captures the small spider
“You are safe to move again now mum”
How I hate being arachnid phobic!

Artic Hunter

Slow sleek steps,

Pounces on its paws,

Snow-clad fur,

Brushes off impatiently,

Ears perk up,

When squeals and squeaks are heard,

Steady and slowly,

Merges with the blanket beneath,

Almost at ease,

Confidently it please,

Lowers into its position,

Ready to strike,

Pounces on its paws,

Announces in its jaws,

Mouse struck beneath its claws,

Ounces in vigilant strides as it withdraws.

Premium MemberTearful

“Give them back! Give my tears back, right now—with interest!!”
—Natsuki Takaya

She wrote her marine a letter, hopeful, bright
loved with her kisses and perfume. In sight,
the postman circles ‘round. Expectantly, she
hurries to the wooden box, near the Pear tree.

Spring is in the air with robins mating, daffodils
in potent bloom and the sudden goosebump’ chills.
Sarah shuts her bedroom door, pounces on bed,
allows steam to open the envelope, read what’s said.

“Dear Sarah, soon I go into the fight, I will write more
later, after the attack. Kiss kiss, x x, hug hug score.”
Later he continues with blood, sweat and tears.
Incoherently, blots - black and blue, slide down. Fears

march up and down her spine. Vietnam’s magic trick
was to steal her joy and love. America’s turning quick -
long ere, a neighbor, fathomed regress from her guy,
which would rip the torrential tearful cloud of her eye.

Guns at Home

Drunk is the man,
Who gave me the roots of my existence
In this harsh, cold and dark world...
For instance,
He beats up his so-called darling heartbeat
To a pulp, saying she's not caring about him
Yet he spends the little he gets
In bars, so late at night
With his friends, who dance to the tunes of alcohol
And use that chance to know harlots biblically...
He pounces on them as prey
Though they spread disease in the community
Alas! The more he laughs, is the more he loses soberness
Harnessing thoughts that we are his enemies
On his return, to our ramshackled house!

They say that a home is a safe place
But to me it's like a warzone
A heart rage of shame...
Mother, so verbous that her words land out of place
As she fires gruesome tantrums to her husband
And as African men once nurtured,
They shan't tolerate disrespect from a woman
When he flogs her in front of my siblings and I
Indeed our miniature size, prevails as our weakness
Seeing our mother bleed, to the brink of death!

Premium MemberThe Fox

The Fox

Sly fox with pointed ears upright
With snout twitching and lips smirking,
And crafty eyes intently watching
For prey location revealing.

White chest and cheeks in a red fur coat,
Sporting a bushy tail for balance and warmth.
Sneaky predator, night stalker,
Pesty threat to poultry farmers.

The vixen with kits hides in the den,
Waits the arrival of the dog out hunting;
Who gives chase and pounces on a snowshoe hare,
His eyes expressing a satisfied result.

Premium MemberCatch of the Day

He stands motionless
Carefully watching his prey
Hopeful this will be
His Catch of the day

He pounces then chases
Though his prey is too fast
He roars with frustration
As he can no longer outlast

His body is aged
He is no longer lighting quick
His wounds are many
He is frail and sick

He now lies in the hot afternoon sun
So tired.…he needs to rest and lay
Through the bushes he is being watched
His time now to become the Catch of the day!

on the prowl,
           a big cat;
       hunger pangs.

        oh, the thrill
         of the hunt!
           unaware...

         sitting duck
           of a prey,
           selected...

          from afar,
       sneaking up;
 creep, creep, creep.

          stealthily,
      leopard stalks.
             quietly

          lies in wait;
         pounces on
              impala.

Premium MemberLion and the Lamb

Oh what God wish you could see
When you look up to beauty of the skies
The Lion of this world that preys on lambs
King of the beast is the name given
For he seeks and destroys all life
None could stand up to challenge
He sneaks up and pounces on the lost
Until one day a Lamb that he killed showed back up
He knew this one he should flee from
For this one he quickly lost a taste
This small humble lamb had defeated this beast
That put fear and joy in the Lion at the same time
This Lamb is now protected from all harm
And received name King of Kings ruler of all
That another shall find peace , joy , love , and comfort.
For through Him this world beast is defeated
That he might one day lay down with the Lamb

Mankind is the beast that fights against God, only through Jesus shall one receive
Life and spirit to destroy all we have gained in this world, to become molded
And purified into a Child of God
