Polish Up Poems

Premium MemberI Let It Slip Away

I let it slip away,
It did not have a chance
It was a struggle
That put up quite a dance

It was a beautiful morning,
All was fresh and new
And from the moment that I got up
I was out to get you,

I have looked carefully,
Every time I pass
To see if you are visible
As I walked across the grass

On my way to work
Longing for the weekend
When I will have the time
To polish up my skills
That will help to make you mine.

Saturday comes at last,
And it looks like it may rain
I will still look for you
Although this weather is a pain

I set the bait
And I was feeling excited.
I found it hard to wait,
Until we were united.

You tugged at my heartstrings,
As I saw you swimming in the water
And as I looked
My skills began to falter

The plans that I made
To catch you today
Quickly fell apart
As I let you slip away

As I see that tasty fish
Swimming away from me
I will not be bringing it
Home to eat for tea.

Premium MemberPretty Little Engine

She thinks she can and chugs along where vistas dip and swell;
A rush of steam, a puff of smoke, a whistle and a bell.
Gonna buy me a haircut and polish up my boots
When that pretty little engine comes to town.

The miles speak more of landmarks passed than merely distance run;
The hiss and clatter, music gained, not quietude undone.
Gonna tune me a banjo and play it in the pines
When that pretty little engine comes to town.

She thinks she can, and so she does and rolls across the land.
Her brakes might squeak like nails on slate, but stop her on command.
Gonna grab me a ticket and really go in style
When that pretty little engine comes to town.

Premium MemberSoldiers of Love

Tromping through the trenches of life
We have to emphatically make ourselves fall in love
Over and over and over and over and over again
For we begin to fall out of it if we do not make it a daily mantra

We must polish up our weapons, and have them at the ready
Enthusiastic gleaning of things I Ioved about him in the first place
All of the wonderful things he has done for me year after year
I take out the photo albums and reminisce

We get our orders from the big guy in the sky
Who wants us to honor our commitment,
We fight for our union,
the one we pledged we would honor forever.
We are soldiers of love.

Premium MemberMask of Misery

Childhood is meant to be loving and carefree,
sadly it’s not always the way it should be...

The mask of misery hiding the curse
Coming from violence and angry words
A tender heart that's been broken in two
Too young to understand rage and abuse.

There's an unease in anticipation
Waiting for another confrontation
Relief comes after stress of the tirade
And the heart rate starts to settle again.

Leaning to live and love just doesn't exist
The odd one out, the loner, the misfit
Struggling with learning the lessons at school
"Could polish up" on reports as a rule.

Frozen emotions that deaden the soul
Thaw out when the truth begins to unfold
That love means living in serenity
Freedom found in an unchained melody.

Premium MemberPretty In Pink

Are you still here? Bullfrog? Is that really your bit?
Come on cupcake, you need to polish up your wit.
Do you shave your head or did it just all fall out?
Your poor little seed didn’t get to far past sprout.

Writer’s block for almost two years.
Wow, it would appear you had a few too many beers.
To much time in the car park, I think.
But bless your heart sweetie you do look pretty in pink.

Beginnings

As this year is nearly eschew
Looking foward, I can do
Thoughts of failure are taboo
for there is nothing I can’t do
Sailing ahead with grit
to meet the New Year
all the frustrations
pushed to the rear
Let them disappear
Merely, a reflection of your fear
Let there be no debate
you were born to create
polish up your skill
Resolve your will
Don’t let your failure define
let your incandescant light shine
as I am the source
you are mine and devine
Follow your call
Happy New Year to All

The Survivalist Community

As I scour the internet,
I want to be in the know,
about what might happen
in the here and now,
so I look into the websites,
about what could take place,
if there was an EMP attack
on the human race,
or if there was anarchy
that caused a civil war,
then most likely we'd end up
with something called martial law,
its enough to scare one silly,
but its also good to be prepared,
thats why I'm joining the amish
for they are truly a survivalist community,
they would teach me survival techniques,
so my family and I would have immunity,
from what all might take place,
God forbid on this human race,
just have to polish up my German
and they'd probably take me right in,
teach me how to can a bunch of foods,
so we wouldn't get too thin,
and learn how to live without
a lot of todays technology,
so we wont be left in the dark,
learn how to live a simpler way of life,
and be happy as a lark,
no cell phones or internet,
or cars or t.v...
yes indeed I'll learn a lot
from the amish,
so don't take pity on me,
just wont like the part of
wearing those long frumpy dresses,
plowing the field and
wearing those funny looking bonnets.

Can'T Stop the Flawed Flawless of J W Earnings -Part 4-

Smile for a mile
Stay here for a while
Your grace face and reality myth
Is something I can’t keep pace with
“You’re amazing just the way you are” – Bruno Mars “Just the Way You Are”

I quote singers because I don’t plagiarize…
I realize that they are grand in my wild eyes…
But, in my tame-wild daydreaming, I wish…
Someone would read this – to turn their day around like an anguish
In reverse…
You’re not a curse…
You’re a blessing from on high
It’s something I can’t deny…(sigh)

“Shine bright like a diamond” – Rihanna “Diamond”
Speechless because this song speaks through me…
These lyrics I am most fond of...I wish these lyrics is like a magic wand
That can take away all the pain of past’s rain…God is here, healing’s near, I sea…
I see crystal clear that I’m not the only one suffering
I’m like a YouTube video, sometimes buffering
But, I am an incomplete masterpiece . . .
I want to give you chaos no more, but of peace…
Without the media involved
But, that’s another poem to polish up on…a riddle unsolved…

Mrs Claus

Christmas without Mrs. Claus
That could never be
Who would feed dear Santa
And trim the Christmas tree

Who would tie the ribbons
And fasten all the bows
Who would help the elves
Hang their stockings all in rows

Who would do the mending
And sew the giant sacs
Who'd care for all the reindeer
And polish up their racks

Who would keep dear Santa jolly
Keep him fat and warm
So he can ride the coldest skies
And weather any storm

All hail the unsung hero
Hooray for Mrs. Claus
The saving grace of Christmas
Best gal that ever was

Beneath a Bearded Tree

Beneath a bearded tree I sat
Expecting on a gaze,
When interview a headless hat
Came whiffling through the haze.

For laffs he wore a slight of grin,
And luck a charmless arm.
Four feathers grew upon his chin.
His steptwin was a farm.

Good Rooter with his tranquilize
Spread fat across the land.
To bleat the water from his cries
And polish up his hand.

‘Beware the Moo!’ A Cow called out,
His udders clothed in drag.
‘Beware its hook and pout-ful shout.
Its Moo-beams in a bag!’

Beneath a bearded tree I sat
Re-musing on the dayz.
When interview a stripy cat
Came whiffling through the haze.

A Good Clean Slam

Let us investigate the process!
HOW…..HOW…..shall we make
a MUD PIE……without getting dirty???

We shall polish up the words,
buff them to an acceptable finish,
weave them into an undecipherable web
of double entendre, tongue in cheek malapropisms,
drape it sensually in Freudian Slips,
conceal its intent in a Slamming Trojan Horse.

We shall protest – but not too much,
Shout – but not too loudly,
We shall rant – but briefly
stay within the confines of the PC Police lines.

How then shall I tame this rage,
this hard boiled anger?
Contain these tears of fear,
smooth the edges of my life
into a gentle, inoffensive, song?

Would you have me ride into battle
on a doe, carrying a feather?
Offer flowers to those who need cold steel?

Must I rein in my vitriolic vengeance,
curtail my caustic tongue,
creep – snake-like….hissing - balloon-like
spewing my venom in lost droplets,
burning an already scorched soul??

Polish Up Your Glasses

POLISH UP YOUR GLASSES

World for a moment seems more pliant,

End of the grease-fog night,

Further to see, shoulders of giant,

Suddenly life seems bright.

Focused

Lord hangs onto me some serious mercy now,
I am aimed and directed aligned and straight.
Be it so or be it may I am that God given trait.
You will never once have to reveal for me how.

I tell the truth all I have to say about it is Wow!
If this isn’t just downright genius then it’s great.
I can only imagine what all this will soon create.
I must say for all this I shall indeed bend to bow.

A-men to every single one of you!
And praise your one supreme Lord!
You know, I knew I always knew!
My God, I am your flaming sword!

You know Lord; you can do whatever you want with that locust,
But I’m going to polish up on this sword keeping myself focused!
