I Let It Slip Away

I let it slip away, It did not have a chance It was a struggle That put up quite a dance It was a beautiful morning, All was fresh and new And from the moment that I got up I was out to get you, I have looked carefully, Every time I pass To see if you are visible As I walked across the grass On my way to work Longing for the weekend When I will have the time To polish up my skills That will help to make you mine. Saturday comes at last, And it looks like it may rain I will still look for you Although this weather is a pain I set the bait And I was feeling excited. I found it hard to wait, Until we were united. You tugged at my heartstrings, As I saw you swimming in the water And as I looked My skills began to falter The plans that I made To catch you today Quickly fell apart As I let you slip away As I see that tasty fish Swimming away from me I will not be bringing it Home to eat for tea.

A large net is needed. And some light which could attract the fish.

Sounds like the 'Catch of the Day' will have to wait until tomorrow. Keep at it!

I hate it when that happens. At least you got a good poem out of it, Shirley. A lighthearted read, perfect for the evening dessert. (Left you another comment on your last poem:)
