One Fourth Poems | Examples

World is fair as is

Had tears not been there
Man might not be half as good,
Nor one-fourth as fair.

If pain nowhere there
Would pleasure be as it should?
No, in depth so bare,

Nor yet so valued
As it is, never once rare,
But edged with guilt, crude.

And it’d be unfair
If one gets all longed for, would
He for heaven care?

World as is, is fair,
No one on this needless brood,
Pull his hair nor tear.

HOPE

When in a night
so dark, scary and lonely,
With your heart so burdened and uptight,

When your claim, ' small me - big God,'
makes you feel like your prayers
are nothing more than an ant's whispers
in an elephant's ear - useless.

When you feel tired and worthless,
like one fourth the tree remaining in the ground
while a third of it is cut down,
Do not not lose hope, remember he says,

"For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease."
Christ will revitalize you.

Human Mind - Limited

Two times two is four
Four times two is eight
Eight times two is sixteen
How far can we multiply by two?
Forever

Two divided by two is one
One divided by two is one half
One half divided by two is one fourth
How far can we divide by two?
Forever

Where is the end of the universe?
Forever

So, I confess
Our mind is limited
Between infinity and infinitesimal

Beyond which
We use the word
FOREVER
Meaning I don’t know

Leatherback, murray river, matama
Hawksbill, common musk and spiny soft shell.
Loggerhead, Atlantic green, alligator snapping
Turtles are we, in every country we dwell.

The largest sea turtle reaches eight hundred pounds.
A leatherback whose love for jellyfish abounds.
Alligator snapping is one fourth of leatherback’s weight
Uses pink fleshy flap of lower jaw for bait.

The difference in turtles fascinates me.
I can picture the loggerheads running to the sea.
No matter what country you decide to make your home
There is a turtle close by, even if it is in this poem.

A Pill Cutter

I was looking at the small pill-cutter box
Which I was holding in my hand.
Blue colored with a sharp edge of the blade
To cut the medicine in halves, one-third or
Could also be, in one-fourth, maybe.

I was thinking, simultaneously, about the news
I heard today, which made me puzzled….
Churches and bombings, again, so vulnerability!
So vulnerable with this cloak of religiosity
In this utter disastrous time of unrest and confusion!

I woke up again…. just to get another news of the death
A death in the family, ending of a marvelous life, so precious!
I whispered a line of supplication for the departed
And also, for me, as there was something to do….
And, I was holding the pill cutter still in hand, indecisively.

If you decide to take it,
You can wake up tomorrow as someone else.
A new look, a new age, a new person,
You can live in any country in the world.
You can live on another planet.
You can be famous, rich, or just be you.
Choose wisely, as you can never
Ever go back.

My Dear Lord

My dear Lord I want to say thank you today and everyday

For all your blessings and miracles in every way

I realize I am very blessed

My life is going great without any stress

And it is you dear Jesus that I want to praise

Your blessings are appreciated always

I am very thankful Jesus for your blessings and miracles too

And everything else that you do

Every day is better with you at my side

Yes, it is always better with you as my guide

One fourth of 2017 is almost done

So far all is well with joy and fun

Continue your blessings and favor every single day

I will continue to praise you in every possible way

Yes, it is you Jesus that keeps all things fantastic

Just good and nothing drastic

That is one of the reasons I want to thank you today

For keeping everything well in all ways

I entered gates that were rusty and old, worn with age,
     This eternal resting place filled my soul with sadness;
The time of year did not help, barren trees hanging low,
Dried up flowers lay forlorn on rows of graves.

I followed a pathway taking me deep into the maze of sorrow,
     Many stones difficult to read, erosion and time destroyed;
Some were simple crosses and others pristine granite markers,
I crossed over a bridge above a rippling stream.

Dark valleys lay before me and toppled statues rest in peace,
     This scene of sadness holds a place in my soul forever;
For among the burial plots, vaults, lays a beloved sad memory,
Of my childhood cat, Snowball, forever in this place.

This pet cemetery, serene and tranquil,

                                                And I still weep . . . .

Nervous

How long is a long time?
Or: How long is a life?

If one second passes between the end of two lives,
Enough time to see a shooting star
Enough time to feel the change to winter or spring
Enough time to breathe fresh air...
Was not a lifetime lived in that second?

;

A hand shake,
Shaking and straining to squeeze
That last bit of toothpaste out
For the little brother of a son
Waiting to clean his teeth.
Nervous,
Nerve-racking anticipation but soon
Off to a bedroom one-fourth the volume
And three times as occupied as a sitcom,
No story tonight, sleepy thoughts by streetlight
Bleeding through the blinds,
From a kitchen halved by a fridge
Four times its used size,
And a goodnight,
All fe no male, a hopeful prayer unanswered,
An uncertain tomorrow in a certain tomorrow.

I Can'T Believe I Keep Saying Stuff Like That

I Can’t Believe I Keep Saying Stuff Like That

By Elton Camp

I won’t have any trouble relating to the regular Joe
After all, I only have two hundred fifty million or so

Among the filthy rich, I am not even close to there
I’m only about one-fourth way to being a billionaire

NASCAR doesn’t really hold a lot of interest to me
But of couple of my friends own whole teams you see

Sometimes I forget & make some rather unwise cracks
Like saying that my wife drives a couple of Cadillacs

And when I said that it’s people that I like to fire
Looking back, I wish had, instead, substituted hire

But probably the worst that I have messed up yet
Was in offering to make a ten thousand buck bet

I mean not to speak of wealth, but can’t stick to it
Sometimes I wonder if it’s the devil made me do it

I surely do wish that to nobody it had occurred
That I am as rich as Thurston Howell the Third

Politically Educated

President Roosevelt once said, " In Politics nothing happens by accident. If it happens you can believe it was planned that way!"

Nothing ever changes......

If we were dealing with the law of average at least one fourth of the world events that affect us should be good for America?

If we attribute happenings to mere incompetence our Political leaders should eventually make a mistake in our favor!

But. . . . Nothing ever changes.....Why?

One Fourth

and so mr. romney
mr. richie-rich-i’ve-got-a-kingdom-of-brainwashed-mormon-lunatics-writhing-in-exstasy-behind-my-every-word
romney
believes that
“the free market enterprise” is that which will save
the fall of the empire &
in yelling from the rooftops
“i believe in capitalism!”
justice
will
finally
prevail
in this crippled, disintegrating,
“democracy.”

what will mr. romney & others like him
who assert that business as usual is
working
say to the 21.9 million children in this country who now currently live in poverty?

¼ kids under the age of six
may beg to differ with his tyrannical exclamations,
and if they are in fact
“the future,”
how will they remember the choices made by imbeciles who think that
things are still
hunky-dory?

that is, assuming there will be anything left by the time they reach the age of
resistance.

Love Finds a Way

Life changes like the seasons
Laughter bubbles, tears flow.
There's a quiet look as the mind reasons
to let the sorrow go.

Colors change as hearts do,
Flavors seem so rich.
As a new beginning follows through,
The paths to truth have switched.

Thunder rumbled as lightning struck,
Water flooded the ground.
A different storm, life crumbled.
I watched as it tumbled down.

But now to rebuild with new parts,
Tears provide the mortar.
One fourth respect, One half love
With laughter as the other quarter.

I'll cry tears for all the pain,
But it lessens everyday,
And life has taught to put trust in fate,
And love will find a way.
