Life is an amazing adventure
Not for the faint of heart
The ups and downs, the challenges
Can weaken resolve from the start

When you're a very young child
Things seem so simple each day
Biggest decision you're faced with
What kind of game to play

Girls don't enter the picture
They're annoying and spoil the fun
Whoever invited them to play?
They can't even shoot a gun

All they want to do each day
Is play with their dolls and stuff
They never want to go climbing trees
Or wrestle to see who's tough

Sooner or later we become teenagers
The girls seem quite different now
Our attitude towards them changes
Suddenly we're moonstruck, kerpow!

Next thing you know it's junior prom
And we're trying to show we can dance
Not much rhythm here I'm afraid
Like a turkey walking round in a trance

Meet your soul mate and then you marry
Buy a house with a view of the lake
Soon you're blessed with a couple of kids
Then you're Grandpa for goodness sake

Well that was a whirlwind journey
Through a lifetime of happy and sad
Now be honest, you loved every minute
'Twas the best time you've ever had!

Moonstruck

I am waxing poetic
And hope I’m not straining
Credulity saying
My talent’s not waning.

It may be eclipsed by
Those poets ascendant
Whose words are celestial,
Deep and resplendent.

Yet tides keep on turning
And orbits expanding,
While moonbeams drift down,
Oh, so daintily landing.

The galaxy’s bursting
With work that amazes
And room for all poets
In all of their phases.

Moonstruck Josette
There's a sad tale told of moonstruck Josette
Who's love turned into ashes of regret
She found romance when only sweet sixteen
With the most handsome man she'd ever seen.

Though he treated her unkindly at times
Josette overlooked those menacing signs
She adored him despite his cruel trait
Then came the day he decided her fate.

He took her to a wood where no one goes
Josette felt he was well nigh to propose
He said to close her eyes and count to ten
Poor Josette never opened them again.

Down in the woods lies a silent Josette
Her demise so tragic one can't forget.

Moonstruck

I want to be like the moon,
A source of guiding light in the dark,
For the people lost in sempiternal darkness.

I want to be like the moon,
Who shines in the gloom, glowing with vigour,
A muse for the lover of arts.

I want to be like the moon,
Radiant in the luminosity of the sun,
Surrounded by the dancing stars.

I want to be like the moon,
Too far, from everyone's reach,
Yet very close for those who seek.

Under a midnight mystic moon
a melancholic marionette
strums a magical mandolin

Its monotone melody humming
smothered by a mythical midsummer mist
lost in a molten moment of madness
he mindlessly meanders giving in to momentum

Moonstruck and morose
he sets his many mellow memories in motion
amazed and mystified
and maybe mad
he searches for meaning
in the matrix of morning

Moonstruck

The roundness of a drop of water
keeps me stuck on spin,
no flat earth could wash so cleanly.

The moon could be hollow,
it rings like a bell when struck.
I study bells and their carved-out emptiness.
I interpret tones and their bongs
into words.

Last evening
I was distracted by moonlight -
it trembled.
Light is so much faster
than bells chimes.
Patiently I waited in the shimmer,
then came the deep and distant ringing.
The sleeping birds heard it also,
Owls spun their heads
like silver coins.

A thunderstruck night sky
intoned its obscure vespers.
Ears detecting, but the sound
seemed not so much outer
but inwards -
a vibrations of being.

The chipmunk
who had raced here and there all day long
stood as still as a tiger
eyes alight
in the burning bright hollowness
of that carillon call.

Moonstruck

The light of the moon is the comfort of the night,
and the flight of dreams sees by its golden glow.
The stars that surround its corona are as jewels,
that lay upon the moons' black velvet shoulders.
The mountain wolves call to announce their need,
for the god of golden light to bring back better days.
The natives bow and call the moon the night king,
for he tells them when to plant their sacred crops.
The wandering stranger is talking absentmindedly,
to the only friend and companion, he can count on.
Moonbeams stream through the ancient woodland,
where the creatures of fantasy dance in its illumine.
The light of the moon is the comfort of the night,
and upturned faces bathe in its resplendent glory!

Moonstruck

In total awe he tries to touch the magnificent crescent moon
for he had heard a man lived there and yearned to see him soon
head held high he searched the sky for that Man in the Moon the boy did espy
he was sat astride the moon up above
whilst swinging his legs sprinkling moonbeams of love
a wink of an eye for the boy to espy, with dreams one day of flying up high
the boy now an Astronaut the cosmos he explores
a welcome wave from the Man in the Moon as daily his spaceship soars

Moonstruck

We are so close my love,
     that on certain dark days
we set each other aflame
     exploding like aerials that
quickly burst then dissipate
     leaving vapors of remains
that the wind blows away.
     As quickly as our arguments
ignite, they are over in a flash
and we are reminded of the
explosive power of the new moon.
We go to separate rooms to cool
and recoup from the intensity
     of opposites drawn by each
other's flame unable to keep from
     a combustible explosion on days
when the dark and moody moon
seems to delight in our conflict.
