You won’t believe how deeply it went wrong
Much worse than we had ever feared it would
The brutal force and ignorance stride on
The mad dogs bark the cats demand more food
The government officials have succeeded
They can’t be recognized by fingertips
They’re anti- populists, exactly what we needed
To marvel at their schemes of our hardships
Countries are fictional, this world is just one land
Controlled by creatures who are clones of one another
Good job we never asked for sympathy, my friend,
So many fools believe they can plea like no other
Old devil’s dream came true, so everyone’s fed up
With milk of human kindness mixed with rain
Take off your coffee, otherwise my cream erupts
Your Wilton carpet might be covered with white stains.

The cow waltzes around the lamp post three times

MOOOO!

Cow’s milk
Mother’s milk
The milk of human kindness

Why did you not love me mother?
Why did you demean me father?
Why does dusk’s fading aura not bid me good night?

The cow tangos around the lamp post four times

and weeps

You Cannot Teach Ethics Without

You cannot teach Ethics without Hardship,
You cannot teach Ethics without Sacrifice,
You cannot teach Ethics without Going Without.

You cannot teach Ethics without Hope,
You cannot teach Ethics without Empathy,
You cannot teach Ethics without Consequences.

You cannot teach Ethics without the supply of Mirrors,
You cannot teach Ethics without touching on Greed,
You cannot teach Ethics without the Milk of Human Kindness.

You cannot teach Ethics without bringing in Rocks and Hard Places,
You cannot teach Ethics without Concrete Examples,
You cannot teach Ethics without supplying A Way Out

You cannot teach Ethics without Horror Stories,
You cannot teach Ethics without Collateral Damage,
You cannot teach Ethics without Problem Solving Skills.

You cannot teach Ethics without Ways to Bounce Back,
You cannot teach Ethics without Fresh Ideas,
You cannot teach Ethics without Life Experience.

Why weren’t you kind
To me mother?
Why were you cruel
To me father?

Why did you warp my soul?

And weeps

Opportunities To Be Useful Happen Every Day

Since you are here,
You might as well make yourself useful.

Pull up a chair and start shelling some peas for me,
I can make use of you to stack those chairs,
I could use your help today,
Are you any good at icing cakes?
Can you put that in the boot for me?
What are you doing on Monday?
Can you teach me how to do that
We are short of volunteers to visit those in hospital,
Can we borrow your ladder?

These are just some of the opportunities that have been offered to me,
How about yourself?

Remember time is running out as those doing the asking,
Are getting thinner on the ground,
And those things stuck in your ear,
Plus, that gadget in your hand is blocking the incoming invitations,
To be useful,
Before the opportunity no longer exists,
And you find yourself alone
With a receding hairline,
Poor health,
And a distinct lack of goodwill to anyone who knocks on your door,
In a last-ditch attempt to offer the milk of human kindness,
And a chance to do something useful,
Before that hope too fades forever.

Pretend Not That You Love Me

THE MANY:
I can see beneath your veil....
Pretend not that you love me
While you profess to kill a harmless fly
With a sledge hammer;
And wickedly weld koboko
without bathing an eyelid

LOVE:
Love is love;
I never said love is blind
If love is blind,
There won't be love burn or heartache

THE MANY:
We can see beneath your veil....
Pretend not that you love us
Our knuckles are grey from knocking,
Our heels bruised, brutalized from seeking
And our voices hoarse from asking
While you wickedly weld koboko

LOVE:
Love is love;
I never said love is blind
If love is blind,
There won't be love burn or heartache

THE MANY:
I can see beneath your veil....
Pretend not that you love me
Your eyes do not stimulate love;
Your eyes project hate, disdain
Your lips do not speak the language of love,
They are full of curses
Your heart has no milk of human kindness
It only knows how to weld the koboko

LOVE:
Love is love,
I never said love is blind
There won't be love burn or heartache
If love is blind...

THE MANY:
I can see beneath your veil....
Pretend not....

A Teacher

I am a teacher

Eager beaver

Full of beans

I build bridges

And burn the candle at both ends

I am a teacher

Cap in hand

Full of the milk of human kindness

I fight tooth and nail

To make my pupils see reason

I am a teacher

As hard as nails

Face like thunder

I resent cheap shots

And the breaking of every rule in the book

I am a teacher

With a carrot and a stick

I bring my pupils to heel

I reward who reach for the moon

I clip pupils’ wings

If they go far and off the rails

I am a teacher

Not a mouse potato

And not behind the times either

I am all ears

I bare my soul to my pupils

I make them explore all avenues

And go the extra mile

I am a teacher

I have my heart set on giving

It is a long row to hoe

I will make headway

Pull out all the stops

And hang in there

That’s what I have on the brain.

A Welcoming Smile

Have you ever really looked at the people
As your eyes meet when you pass by each other?
Do they have the same dreams and aspirations?
Are their lives complete with both family and friends?
Or are they alone in this vast busy world,
And devoid of the milk of human kindness?
Why not give the stranger a welcoming smile;
A gift to light their path for just a moment.

It Is the Chicken Skin Wounds

It is the chicken skin wounds
by the nets every day
for a bird in a cage
hey, someone's gotta pay

It is the situation expectation
brokers seeing red
so whip it out, mete it
out on some calf's head

It is the agonizing shrieks
of a mother for a son
missing milk of human kindness
sold out for a different one

It is the height of the bench
and the weight of the bent
twisted corpse of the sow
dropping on the cement

It is the dark, cramped cell
where they're fed till they're freight
ready flesh so the bones
cannot lift their own weight

It is the gun from the wall
see the rounds be replaced
from the vice for the head
till the shot in the face

It is the heart about to burst
pounding terror in the eyes
watching next in line in front of her
another cries and dies

It is the good tail grip
to help her move down the track
that will shine brown and bruised
when the skin is torn back

It is the stain on our hands
from the marking of the beast
wasn't there a verse on
how you did it to the least?

Hope

I saw hope today
She was a read-head
Slender and tall with a smile
That shone bright on a moonless night
I saw hope in motion
As she walked by
She seemed to be beckoning
Gesturing, asking me to join her
In the walk of hope
Her hand felt supple and soft
Reassuring me, firmly clutching mine
Making me feel like I could achieve anything
Clutching onto the coat-tails of hope
Never letting go
Her perfume being the first smell of success
My soul resting
Comfortably ensconced in the bosom of hope
Suckling on the milk of human kindness
I saw hope today

Gifts We'Ve Been Given

We take so much for granted in our lives
Worth decreed in monetary measure
And worthiness is for what mankind strives
Overlooking more obvious treasure

To seek a vision we were given sight
Ears to hear the plaintiff plea of brother
Consciousness to realize wrong from right
Arms to wrap our love around each other

Hearts to beat for the many forms of life
Mouths to sip the milk of human kindness
Two feet to walk away from hint of strife
A brain to outwit bigoted blindness

And we were given a strong writing hand
That through our written words some understand

Birth

The sun arises in maternal eyes,
bathes with vibrant gold this child's emergent brow,
anoints with halo of moonlit star-crossed skies,
kisses with the love of life that starts from now.
At the first ragged cry lactosis stirs the swollen breast,
the milk of human kindness softly seeps;
heartbeat slowing in a birdcage chest;
forever in her soul this moment keeps.
The pain of tissue rent is dying out,
the sweat of labour on her flesh has dried,
the hurt in primal scream, in fevered shout
fades to a state of grace with tears cried.
Held at the break of dawn on birthing day,
on bed sheets where the blood of life has run;
though cords are cut and calmly thrown away
the mother and the child remain as one.
