Make Believe

Make believe you love me. 
Make believe you care. 
Make believe it's my fault. 
For you're no longer there. 

Make believe it's over. 
Make believe a lie. 
Make believe you love me. 
Make believe goodbye. 

Believe I really loved you. 
Believe I really cared. 
Believe my heart is broken, 
for I'm no longer there.

Make-Believe Pie

Why even try to explain, its insane 
when I take a sneak peak at my life,     
I often feel cloned and unreal.       
Reality smacks and I'm under attack  
I dream and I dream like a dope,  
savoring slices of make-believe pie.  

The Great American Make-Believe

Suburban resident pretense, a bleak uniformity.
I grew up among the repetitious homes,
isolated alienated, I wandered the conformity,
the endless square yards, the dull feckless syndrome.

Repugnant yet intriguing, a redundant singularity,
fabrications of fortified, fraudulent self-deception,  
blocks and blocks of suffocating, vapid vanity,
I endured the bland boredom like an endless inquisition. 

All history, all memory was recklessly

Don't pretend, my dear
Acting all high and mighty
In your heart, I care.

   A child makes-believe
     a fairy grants her wish

   Who would deceive 
     ~ will never receive

Make Believe

It came to me in moon’s soft shadow,
As it will at times, still as the frost
Withering the leaves, branches unsheltered,
Buried in embittered …
On December’s naked chill,
Startling the shadows 
From forests who can fill
The heart with a sense of its 
Melancholic mist, fading…
Into the echo of night’s brave 
Silence, like a lost thought
Stuttering as it flies,
Right

A world gone mad
Upside down, inside out
And if you don’t like it
You must be a phobe.

Gaslighting's nothing new
But today it’s all the rage 
In the name of a new religion
Of which thou shall comply.

But if you don’t 
Where does that leave you
Old and in the way
Or ready

A world where everyone is

Miss Christy Sambristy had way too much hair!
When you visited, hair was on every couch, and chair.
It stretched all the way outside her blue and red door!
If she tried cutting it, the hair just grew

There is no getting away
From its reality.
We live in it! Nothing is
But first was foggy.

Sum of all our yesterday's
All our yesteryear's
Pined for, wished on new world's look;
Fulfillingly clears.

A Pillowcase Backpack

A pillowcase backpack, camping under the kitchen table. 
Lost in imagination, deaf to strife. 
In every way full of wonder of life. 

Holed up in a couch cushion bunker. 
Barefoot and bare chested. 
Taking aim to fire a one-eyed shot. 
Make believe enemies threaten an onslaught. 

Built a kingdom of cardboard 
With a window cut

Let's play pretend 
Pretend you are the hero and I am the damsel in depression 

You sold me a magic future you'd crafted out of fool's gold
And I fell into the shimmer 
A siren song in rough seas and
 I sang merrily we fall

What adventure novels did I neglect 
While chasing a happily ever after
