Lounged Poems | Examples

A scare

A scare lounged deep within the hall,
As shadows danced along the wall.
A piercing ray cut through the night,
Yet filled the air with chilling fright.
A whisper stripped the place so bare,
But left a deeper dread to share.

Premium MemberHuman Angel

In a ferry, gloom wore a drained cloth of eve
My heart desolate drifting far and bleak,
Tears fluid as love’s passage can’t rewrite
One lilt of birds through wind’s maddened thud.

And needing rest on a couch in dull shade,
Irreverent the moon … how brittle the sheen…
Till a peasant lounged beside me , bright as flame
Lightening my face… amber eyes aglow.

His ruffled hair touched my cheeks without words,
O humble silence releasing angst, my fear
That he offered soft  tunes from his old wooden harp ;
Then left in haste with a smile like a cherub's glow.

Somehow, I felt warmth revived, thorn’s relief
Freed by a young street boy so divinely sent...
A heaven’s keeper , a human the least
An angel on earth, granting crown from grief.

Premium MemberSanta Got Stranded in Florida

The North Pole life can be so hard.
Poor Santa longed to take a break.
His missus told him, “Off we go
to Florida. It’s for your sake!”

While he lounged by the indoor pool,
she vamoosed with a young masseur
in Santa’s car with all his cash.
This vicious blow he would endure.

He called Rudolph: “I’m stranded here.
I want to be back home TODAY.”
Eight reindeer dashed to Florida
to rescue him in his own sleigh.

Desire; As a Force

What beckons , as blows
Before time this boat?
This longing for to be
As lounged in; a-float.

Desire; as a force!
Know it to be shared!
Therein, and face to face
With one, sweet. My fate?
Leaning as passionate;
As willow-ensnared!

Premium MemberThe Hero

Bordering the local
football ground, young
mountain ash bend
in the cold wind.
Almost reaching to full height,
their lean, pliable trunks bow
and spring back,
whipping against the air.
Defiant, almost arrogant
they dance and swirl
their leaves like balls
of streamers waved
by frenzied fans.

Boyhood comes charging back
as I walk the boundary,
booted up and wearing
number twenty five.
I inhabited the hero,
rode wild applause
to the consummate ease
of my play and saw
my name bannered
in large print
across Sunday replays.

Imagination flew far above
my skill and as time
chastened dreams,
ambition retreated to a place
in a noisy crowd
carried along on the swells
of boisterous cheer,
or lounged in a chair
watching an ad riddled
game at home by myself
with a beer.

Premium MemberMighty Beast

In the midst of the mist of natural October
Deep within the hills of longing and luxurious lightness
There lounged a powerfully mystical elk with a mission
He was a marvelous example of a mighty beast.

The other creatures sensed he was there.
This was not said aloud, it was insinuated.
A bit of fey in the air, the faeries were about.
The mist parted, and the beast walked into the clearing.

The silence was deeper and more glorious now.
It was a time for reverence and peace.
Elves and brownies watched in awe.
It was a magnificent moment in the enchanted forest.

Premium MemberSeashores In Faraway Places

Breezes blowing through her auburn hair
Reminded me of seashores in faraway places,
Those times we lounged in an afternoon lair
In the most God-forsaken primitive spaces,
The best times of our life together, I swear.

Premium MemberIndian Heat

I look toward the swish swish tree
I named it this at only three
Whilst watching lizard frog and snake
Crawl and wind their way to make.

I look toward the garden seat
I sat on this to dream in the daytime heat
Whilst wondering when I would meet my mate
Would she be arranged or would she be fate.

I look toward the shady pool
I lounged here playing romantic fool
Whilst deep dark eyes dripped love to me
Weaving my real destiny

I look toward the high blue sky
I saw no cloud drifting by
Whilst the sun burned my heart to black
Knowing he would never be back

I look towards the silent house
I live inside as a silent mouse
Whilst writing the lines of a love with no name
Which others will speak in time with no shame

Oh India my beloved love
My heart my soul my death and my dove
Your Gods know my longing and of my lust
Whilst Mother Earth will rejoice
When I return to her dust.

Horses Cannot Ride Themselves

Ladies lounged in his light,
fanning the flames of overheated desires.
He, the slick poser, the bad bronco
oiled his parts while he cantered past them,
whipping his buttocks
in a most convincing manner.

Premium MemberPour Me Some Wine, My Love

We lounged on the back deck as twilight fell
and gazed as tiny fireflies cast a spell.

As Nature placed her glory on display,
we sipped red wine, reflecting on our day.

We’d had a scrumptious meal my love prepared,
and then a soothing bubble bath, we shared.

On cool silk sheets, we’d shared . . . oh, so much more
till both of were sated to the core.

We’d watched a Lifetime romance on TV
and swayed to tunes we love by Kenny G.

We didn’t wash one dish or make the bed.
“The maid will do those things!” my lover said.

“Of course, she will. We’ve better things to do.”
I said. “I’m ready for the back-lawn view.”

That’s when we got the wine and went outside.
A place like this is such a source of pride--

Out front car doors were slamming, and we knew
to all that splendor we must bid adieu.

The owners of the home returned too soon!
We fled through woods on paths lit by the moon.

Premium MemberDancing In the Moonlight

I lounged in silence,
Overwhelmed by beauty,
Invigorated and at peace
Beneath the graceful willow.

In this tranquil state
I felt and absorbed
The hazy waning shafts of moonlight
Interlaced with wafts of perfumes
Of the whitish flowers of the queen of the night,
The mighty selenicereus
That climbed the greenish trellis
Of my earthly paradise.

Every color of the darkening rose,
Every shade that hid the sleepy birds,
Every sound of cicadas that sang to the moon,
Every precious second that passed
Was but an undying serenade.

Oh that such a moment
Would never have an end.
For this was an eternal dance
Upon a fair land
Where nature led the band
With extreme serenity,
Directed with all unearthly charm
Life's infinite continuum.

Suburban Teenaged Summers

The sweet bird songs heard at the break of dawn
Mixed with the sound of sprinklers on the lawn
Neighbors readied boats for bobs in the bay
Morning papers landed in each driveway
Boxy air units were wedged into sills
A mailman in shorts delivered the bills
I rode my bike downhill to feel the breeze
Getting vitamin D was done with ease
Voluptuous housewives gloved in the garden
Black barbecue grills covered in carbon
Thirsty drooping plants on blazing back decks
Lobster red shoulder blades and sunburnt necks
Lunch was a sandwich and chips in the shade
Washed down with a glass of pink lemonade
Money was made from the grass I would mow
Listened to baseball on my old radio
On towels in backyards lounged sun seekers
Chlorophyll stained the tips of my sneakers
The mower’s blade spun like a propeller
Musty scents wafted up from our cellar
Plump purple mulberries there for the pluck
The beckoning sounds of the ice cream truck
Mom cooked supper and the heat was obscene
Hamburgers, tater tots, and cowboy beans
I ate with gusto like a death row man
Napkins aloft from the rotating fan
Symphony by crickets under the stars
Blinking fireflies and candles in jars

Childhood Scents

In laundered lilac linen I lounged half awake
What would this sumptuous Saturday share
Would gregarious grandmother graciously bake
Although the wicked waft of her cakes was hard to compare
I was silently salivating for her chicken fricassee fare

The farm freshest fricassee demanded a certain hen
accompanied by green gardens greatest of variety vegetable
sauteed snips of mint, garlic, and onion, Amen
Wafted walnut savory sauce anticipating the set table
Secret sprinkle cayenne pepper activating heat is enabled

When plated these lusciously lubricated white slices
Of soft succulent hen atop fresh potato mash
Stunningly Swimming alongside fresh vegetable dices
When your tongue tip tastes there's an instant flash
Of cherished childhood flavored food, a true saliva splash

I Want To Climb Mountains Again

I would like climb mountains again
And to hear the laughter of friends
Waking each day knowing it would be OK
It wouldn’t matter that I lounged away

Each thought that I feel
I would know is the real deal
And what would it matter
If our plans were idling in chatter.

Seething

Foam whitely seethed, stirred up by surf
While sun beat down upon hot sand
And there, a way’s, a couple lounged
In folding chairs set side-by-side,
Umbrella flapped, it cast its shade,
When up the strand two ladies trekked,
Bikinis bright and teeny, tight,
	Man’s face, alert,
	With eyes joined them:
	From where she sat,
	Rebuked woman,
	Hand tugged his chin,
	Imploring stop!
	His finger rose,
	Her chair, she left
	To point their way.
	“So what?” he shrugged,
	Both feet he found,
	Her back, she turned,
	His arms went cross
	And head leaned in,
	The shifting breeze
	With anger filled—
She stooped and grabbed her canvas tote
And swiftly marched past swaying grass,
Retreating well behind the dune;
Umbrella sagging, chairs turned flat,
The jilted man, he struggled, stormed:
He made the dune and plodded on
While surf roared in, and foam seethed white.
