SNAKES AND LADDERS*

slinking silently
slithering in the shadows
serpent's vicious spite

look to the ladder
looming long in languid lines
life’s lofty ascent

Ladders

If we could heighten our 
bodies we’d have no 
use for 
ladders.

We all have ladders to climb

Changed my mind
and most probably
my spelling and words
quite a lot recently,

thinking we all live
in a simulation and
are bodies are
avatars or emojis,

was watching
high end particle
of love theory.
defo made me think
above me station.

so evolved my spelling
and my words quite a lot,
even my tree’s
become building blocks
every leaf a galaxy
and branches become
electric bridges
to another universe,

sometimes I run
with ghosts and

snakes and ladders

well if one won’t stoop to fight the devil ~ he will always condescend 

he’s further up the ladder ~ but down a manhole so let’s not pretend 

and how do I know such things ~ on any level he’s a charming friend 

one who makes empty promises ~ only the mesmerised comprehend

"A Game of Snakes and Ladders"

It’s like a game,
a game of 
Snakes
and Ladders,

some spend their lives
climbing ladders
up the corporate sticks
sliding all the way 
back down on their sore
sweet and sorry revelations
soap boxes thrown and burnt
like needles lost in hay
we all become 
redundant at some point
on some slippery soaped-up stage
greeted by the Dickinson himself 
holding all

Ladders To the Third Eye

a world of dreams
         made manifest 
               imagination
 extolled 
eclectic  
surreal spectacles 

           the outlandish
 otherworldly 
     

Snakes Ate Ladders

Staircase appears to enable due climb 
          Transforms smooth as scales of snake
          Sordid exposed inhibits intent once kind
          Tramples vigour that giving hearts make

A serpent disturbed in the grass
Slithered up the hose of a lass
But quick as a flash
It made its last dash
A victim of Isle of Man gas

It’s raining out what shall we do?
Let’s play a game just me and you,
Turn off the tele I’ve found a game or two
AAH snakes and ladders that will do,
This is a game we haven’t played in a while
Last time I played I was only a child,

Ladders Move Me To Laughter

The fall of sixty-three, I envisioned myself
"Miss Sorghum" of our Hancock County Fair.

I aced the talent phase on piano
but needed practice crossing a makeshift stage in heels.
Destiny roared, that fatal afternoon,
my clever escort list'ning for the judge's voice,
grabbed my hand for our debut. 

I stumbled and felt my gown unzip.
