Hold Over Poems

The Space Between Us

As far as my eyes can see,
As far as the light can reach,
I cannot see a glimpse of you
But only in dreams and memories

Your smile lights up my world—
Imagine the power you hold over me
Even after you're gone, you still shine my skies

With time, we have grown apart,
Even cunning fate can't bring us closer
Still, I'm always waiting for you at my shores
The question is, will you set out to sea again?

In the shadows of what could’ve been
lies regret,
They haunt every corner of your soul,
making it impossible to forget.
A weight that lingers and sometimes
tears you apart,
As they take a firm hold over your
heart.

In the quiet hours of the night,
silently, they creep.
These uninvited guests disturb and
rob you of your sleep.
Regrets, like needles, pierce deep
into the soul.
Leaving scars that never heal but
continue to control.

Of choices made or words unspoken,
Oh, how we wish we could rewrite
our past,
To undo the mistakes made and gain
peace at last.
But time continues to march on,
day by day,
Leaving us with memories of things
that went wrong, some of which
we dare not say.

And lessons learnt amidst the pain
changed our vision.
For in our regrets, there lies great
wisdom,
It’s through mistakes we learn and
grow strong,
Thus giving us the courage to admit
and accept when we are wrong.

Accepting regrets as part of our
life’s story could set us free.
They are reminders to tread carefully,
enjoy life in the present while
cherishing every glory and just be.

Disorientation

DISORIENTATION

Ever since you came into my life
I have been in a constant turmoil
My head is afloat on a wave crest
My heart trying to leave my chest
And all around me, emotions coil
Disorientated thinking is now rife

Since that time I haven’t breathed
At least not deeply, to understand
Why everything is spinning around
Yet no helpful answer have I found
I’m but a stranger, in a strange land
And for sanity’s sake, not believed

Maybe the power you hold over me
Is too strong to manage and control
It feeds on our passions and desire
And burns bright, like a raging fire
Drawing up strength from the soul
It is real, almost as if a third entity

But yet, I still cannot think straight
Swirling around, as if on a carousel
I never thought love as an aberration
Yet I kind of enjoy this disorientation
Will it come to rest, I really can’t tell
As surely, in good time, it will abate

Premium MemberUnder My Umbrella

Since I walked back home every day from school,
my mother had made for me the golden rule:
in the rainy season an umbrella in my bag
I must carry though it might make it sag.

It started to rain after school one day,
I was under my umbrella, and on my way
home, walking in the road, deserted and wet,
I saw Julie stride in the rain, drenched and upset.

Before she could go out of my reach very far,
in a fast pace I walked to catch up with her.
I gave her the umbrella to hold over us,
which she tried to do with no fuss.

One corner of the umbrella the wind tore,
one half of me was receiving the downpour.
Soaked to the bone, I was happy none-the-less,
for I was of some help to the little damsel in distress.

I Chase The Wind, And Live I Tasting It

My angry dust is dust of desert plains.
Invisible chains hold me. I am not free.

I am worn with a wild desire and yet fit
I have wandered the earth and mountains
In vain fled from Apollo's burning fires
I chase the wind, and tasting all of it.

What avails gathering world's stirring motions
As the planets above fly right on by
Wherein wide across is the windy ocean
And soft the mourning doves sin

My angry dust is dust of desert plains.
Invisible chains hold me. I am not free.

Invisible chains hold me. I am not free.
My lost lover you have that hold over me!

Premium MemberHe Took My Pain

Jesus took my anguish,
When His friends turned away from Him;
So there is no need for me to feel alone.

Jesus took my fears,
In the Garden at Gethsemane;
So fear no longer has any hold over me.

Jesus took my shame,
When He was wrongly accused, stripped and beaten;
So there is no need for me to be ashamed.

Jesus took my pain,
As He bore the lash which tore the flesh from His back,
And by His stripes I am healed;

And He took my death,
As He died on The Cross for the sins of us all;
So death no longer has any claim on me.

He took it all on Himself so God would not turn away from me.
God can't look at sin because it's so filthy.
Sin can't enter Heaven, so neither could I;

But then He was there.
He reached out to me though I was unworthy.
He called me by my name, He knew me,
And He told me not to be afraid ----
               Anymore.

"BUT HE WAS WOUNDED FOR OUR TRANSGRESSIONS. HE WAS BRUISED FOR OUR INIQUITIES. THE CHASTISEMENT OF OUR PEACE WAS UPON HIM;
AND BY HIS STRIPES WE ARE HEALED."
                                                        Isaiah 53:5

“That ego residue of past be shorn ~
We are time and again, on earth reborn”
~ quote by poet

Linear time sounds love's chime,
that soul may heavenward climb
but most of us heed it not,
trapped in a narrow thought slot.

God enables if we're still
but if we defy His will,
we're tossed about like a leaf
by fate, shrouding us in grief.

Life, as it plays, is ordained
to test if our soul's yet stained
by ego spawned dark desires,
that deluded heart aspires.

Both joy and pain come our way
but if love is our mainstay,
fate has no hold over us
and fears no longer nonplus.

Life's a school, we're here to learn,
to grow in love, as we burn.
Redeeming sins of our past,
as we chose, the die is cast.

Making lamp of love soul's sconce,
what matters is our response,
moment to moment in life,
free from strife, always joy rife.

Oh hermit, this life's a dream,
where love not fate, reigns supreme
and once we truly know this,
soul becomes the flame of bliss.

Packets of attention,
each a hypnotic trance,
is but egoic bondage,
which by feeble effort
we so try to assuage.

Packets of attention,
signals but our stupor,
bemused by illusion,
we’re a dead man walking,
living in delusion.

Packets of attention,
require to be rested,
for they block divine grace,
garnered in staid stillness,
that vibrant bliss beats trace.

Packets of attention,
if they be void centric,
have no hold over us,
since soul has vaporised,
content in God's bliss bus.

Its now to question
It's now to dicuss
It's now deny
Any hold over us
By the spawn of
The unconscionable
The dregs of the dregs
The descendants of
Misfits septic as pus
Unacceptable beings
Being devoid of true
Soul, lovers of gloom
Who live as in holes
Like spiders in Webs
They only can kill
If their dens are not
Cleaned out; nows
No time to be still
It's time to be active
Spread the news all
Around , their agendas
Have lost it, Humanity
Is taking back ground.'

A Golden Age

A camelot on the horizon, ending a Viet Nam war, fallen walls and Soviet Union collapse, while the people dreamed on, in the midst of food shortages, starvation and death, loss of home and hearth and the promises of change amidst the Afghan push and independent rule for land and possessions, tighting the hold over the popukace.

People though, are creatures of habit, wealth comes at a cost, then power and greed seek more control until... one party rule without obstacles alone survive the intimadation and lie, truth ground to dust, given in to the ruling class, the loudest voice, self centered, preserved by the dollar sign, the elephants in the room.

A golden age, full of golden dreams and hopes of golden years,
promiseof streets paved with gold inlays and paths worthy of taking,
possibilities that faded with the times, mere memories now
of what could have been, would have been, should have been
had we only stayed the course.

My ramblings on the changing times.

Zero

Hardly does zero fidget
Wielding all the calculation rights of another digit,
In some environment wielding even the more;
In those said places showing 'How core',
By it a solver is dumped,
If by him neglectfully jumped...
The best Mathematician set ablaze,
If he doesn't make it his base.
The examiners tool for nullifying a performance
Preparing candidates and exam for another romance,
Ones animosities against it to wait,
Until one has Mathematics abandoned...
Our fervor for it our lot -our fate,
Until we are no longer by calculus condoned.
Always your Zero prejudices hold over...
Still your finer, better option
With this spherical naught settle your ruction.

Talking Back

Hey all you temporary oscillators
born to the impetuous posture
you gun jumping rattle shakers
wavering your body English
in a gesture of kinetic ardor
for the passage of time as leverage
against the recognition that what gratifies
and profits and returns a bit of leeway
against the fiats of civic disapproval
is but a starting point a utility
that can no longer avail the authorities
and their hold over luck and venture
yes your countenance is sanctioned
by the blaspheming throne of numbers
and faces no injunction or coercive measure
for the infinite stubby sadisms
that fill the cosmic belly
with degradation and humiliation
a digestive system congenitally supplemented
with self adulation stretched thin
to the point of fragmenting
that jangling tatty chandelier you call a mind
into a hill of lizards
you can't see the horizon from
shiver and blanch to the bulletin that
the lingering scraps of your empire
have been licensed for repossession

Premium MemberGod Mode

            I'm now in god mode

       Explanation, if you will

   That I have the power

To give life or take it

We all do, in our way

 Aside, only one force

   That transcends time

       I will love you forever

Not one ... second ... more.

(This is NOT religious statement of any kind, it is about the emotional power
some people hold over others, and the ambiguities of the only thing that
 refutes it).

Premium MemberI Am Addicted To You

You made my life surreal
can't tell what's fake or real
Right is wrong and wrong is right
I just got to be with you every night

Your not a habit I can ignore
You leave me crawling on the floor
I can't escape your hold over me
Your all I want, feel and need

I am addicted to you
I am addicted to you
Nothing I can really do
I am addicted to you

Like swimming against the tide
Your hand alone lets me survive
I can't face alone my heart of blue
I beg your embrace to get me through
There's nothing I can really do
I am addicted to you

My thoughts are not my own
Without you, I am raw to the bone
If you leave me I would crawl and fall
Without you by me, I'ld suffer your withdraw
I shake and shiver, I cry and quiver
If your love from me was sever

I got it bad and that ain't good
I need you more than understood
All I am or hope to be
Is only with you loving me

I am addicted to you
I am addicted to you
Hold me tight the whole night true
I just can't live without loving you
