Happy As A Lark Poems | Examples

Premium Member Conquerors Of The Skies

In this land of if only, I'd only have myself to reckon with
no real or imaginary people to fight with or have a tiff
In a world of seize and conquer I would feel no loss
I'd ride the ocean winds like an ancient Albatross

In a world of make believe I'd be Queen of fairies
grinding my worries away , I'd then pick berries
in a forest full of bears, tigers and wolves, I'd be
a minx with great stealth, I'd never want to flee

In a planet where stars moon and sun can be touched
I would make plans for a future that can't be botched
In a society that badges truth, compassion, empathy
I'd be happy as a lark in the sky, songful and free

In this land of if only, I'd be a wish that never dies ,
joining forces with all the conquerors of the skies.

Premium Member Life Ain't For Sissies

Life sure ain't for sissies
It takes a strong and a willing heart
To conquer the everyday problems
Greeting us with a smile is an art

It's easy to give in to doom and gloom
To grumble and always complain
But no one's gonna help make it better
You're the one who's holding the reins

Here's what I learned a long while ago
If you greet everyone with a smile
Chances are they'll smile right back
You've made someone happy for a while

But listen to this, there's a residual effect
You've raised your spirits as well
You'll go around with song in your heart
You'll be ringing the happiness bell

So the end result of all of this chatter
You control how your day will turn out
Happy as a lark or filled with despair
The choice is what life's all about!

Happy

“My love you make me as happy and cheerful as a lark.” ~ Idlehearts

Give me all the riches
of the world and I’ll be happy,
I’ll be happy if you get me
all the comfort and luxury,
The finest food
The finest silk
The finest wine
will make me a tad bit happier;

Happiest I would still be
If you hand me scepter and crown
studded with rubies and emeralds,
And sit me on a plush throne
of silver and gold
whiling away my days in the
embrace of a lady, eager and bold;

But,
Look into my eyes with love
and holding my hand
lead me under a gentle sky
to the cool shades of a tree
swaying with the wind playfully
by the river flowing languorously
where the weary birds at dusk come to roost—
And I’ll be as happy as a lark!

Premium Member Give a Royal Flip

Bleeding through the most perplexing pain
No sure what the reward is to be gained
From suffering, though some do believe
[Yet they cannot adequately explain],
And I have often wondered about such
Without having myself suffered that much.

“No pain, … no gain” is that crafty cliché
Designed to enhance a gym membership
Keeping the overweight sufferer hanging
Even if most couldn’t give a royal flip,
Losing it today; then gaining it back tenfold
Obesity seems as inevitable as growing old.

Some perverted men want their women fat
Encouraging them to eat beyond their fill,
Displaying their extra layers of rolling flesh
Without regard to the physical disorders ‘til
It’s too late to do something positive, you see
I am just happy as a lark, this isn’t about me.

Premium Member Look An Aardvark

I felt happy as a lark,
I watched an aardvark;
As I sat in a giant arc.
Next, I waved hi to Mark,
As he jogged in the park.
He wanted to catch Clarke.
Then I noticed a dog bark,
That resembled a gray shark;
Lastly, had to run; it got dark.

Premium Member Moonlight Delight

As we are spending quality time together in the dark,
I will freely admit I feel happy as a lark.
What splendor you display as you shine in the moonlight.
Without a doubt, I think you are a delight.
You have become someone I truly adore.
I feel like Bing Crosby singing to Dorothy Lamour.
What a wonderful feeling of coming together as one.
For once, I don't want to see the rising of the sun.

Premium Member My Special Place

In my youth, I enjoyed the amusement park,
Sliding down the giant Slide was a thrilling Ride.
On the roller coaster, I was happy as a lark.
Would Try to touch the Sky, but it would hide.

Had so much Fun in the Sun, I didn't want to go.
Enjoyed how the merry-go-round went real fast,
When the ride ended, I wanted to yell no.
Would Stay all Day; it was such a blast!

Leaving was Sad, but I Had a wonderful time,
walking out the gate, I’d plan my next trip.
As I waved Bye, My spirit felt sublime,
It was an excellent place, a unique relationship.

In my fourteenth Year was my greatest Fear,
we moved to a Town with no such parks Around.
Had to find something to hold Near and Dear,
I found poetry; I’d write from sunup to sundown.

Some Pets Stay

It's true, for some hearts burning embers
 that a pet is like a family member
and how painful life is, when they slip away
 but some pets stay.

Dutchboy wandered in some fourteen years ago
 a young pup on the run from one who did not know
he needed warmth and love and one owner strong
 the protector he would be, big and strong.

He played and barked
 happy as a lark
he kept us safe and snug
 as he cuddled and hugged.

Eventually he slowed in his play
 and sad and unexpected, he slipped away
but some times in the quiet of the house
 I see his shadow walk, quiet as a mouse
and well I now know,
 some pets protect us still
waiting for Heaven to call us all
 and till then, they stay.

Premium Member She Teases Farm Boys

Happy as a lark, they call her Lily
She teases farm boys, acting so silly
  Tells the corniest jokes
  The kind told by old folks
Lily's a pretty Hee-Haw Hillbilly

You

You are not what they tell you,
You don't have to be what they say you are.
Everything that has happened to you,
Needn't confine you behind iron bars.
Is freedom really so frightening?
Few in this world are free, fewer true,
(There's a reason why this earth looks so Blue),
But they are not you.
Just take a few small steps, and you will rise above it all.
Rebel, rebel! - be what you want to be.
You will be sky blue, you will be brand new.
You can be a vision of glory, a beacon in the dark;
(Leaping like a kangaroo, or happy as a lark!)
There are countless millions in need of just one that is true.
Many are open-armed and ready to receive you,
Lots of new friends their unique chemistry waiting to imbue.
You owe them nothing, but you owe yourself everything.
Now you cannot walk, but once you do,
Soon you will be flying.

"This is the day the Lord  made!
Let us rejoice and be glad in it!"
          ~~~
We woke up today, alive, I might add!
Had our coffee and put on the news.
Loaded with negatives, photos that so
darken our hearts, it made our toes curl
in our house shoes.
Numbers that chill us to the very bone!
There's positives which are never shown.
Listening to this? Not very smart!
Take your shower, get dressed and get
out of the house, happy as a lark.
You are a poet with a pen!
With the ability to create a world full of
hope and stunningly golden.
Make it your business to pay special attention
to your pets and to others.
This is no time to give into depression, hiding
under our covers.
Premium Member Game Show Question
Canine, incisor, molar to.
What are all three? I’m looking at you.
One hundred thousand dollars up for grabs
Ellen is waiting showing her abs
Dogs teeth, teeth dogs, dogs the woman guesses.
Man gets a chance to steal. Dogs? He professes.
That’s great! His wife yells, happy as a lark.
Great in what world? All three in the dark.
It is teeth, Ellen announces. The audience laughs.
Everyone else there sees both contestants are daft.
Pretty Pictures, Ribbons and You
Pretty Pictures, Ribbons & You
We each must take a step of faith in the right direction
 A soldier fighting in the field of grass lives another day
 Something to be grasped amidst the madness of outside
 Words that are expressed in the night have come to light
 A full pledge as we take part in the dance
 Pretty pictures fancy ribbons & you
 Perhaps we as a nation have bitten off more then we could chew
 A dance in the light of a delightful day
 We humbly bow the knee to pray
 Many people sow discord in the hearts of others
 There is no true love anymore for our brother
 In light of eternity this day is far spent
 A light that evokes a twilight appeal to family & friends
 Happy as a lark in the meadow looking for food
 Radiant nights with moon fall all a glow
 The pitter patter of soft sandaled feet
 Pretty pictures, ribbons & you
 Nothing borrowed or blue
 Bask in the vast array of love from above
 A look deep inside for we have nothing to ever hide
My Kind of Town
As you enter the town you admire its lake,
the historical houses being quite quaint,
variety of different shopping just in case,
the restaurants there being tops and first rate,
Not too heavily populated and taxes are low,
the pace not too fast and not too slow,
you can rent a boat and on the lake row,
or climb the diving board and off you go,
Or you can go for a picnic at the park,
and afterward go for a nice leisurely walk,
crime is low so don't have to worry about the dark,
most people you pass by happy as a lark,
I think I'd like to maybe move here one day,
it's a perfect place for people to work or to play,
Id sit on my back porch sipping some lemonade,
enjoying the sun and the gentle breeze off the lake,
As the summers here are southernly warm,
the winters not northernly cold,
whenever I drive through Guntersville, Alabama
its so picturesque my heart just soars.
