I wish you were here, not that I miss you.
It's just that I can't speak with you, about what has happen
since you left me.
When it is this hot, I feel like I could
jump in cold water, something with iced cubes.
I always dreamed of running away.
Some place cool like an ice cream island.
It's almost over now
My time spent on earth, but maybe I could last another
ten years, or more, or so I'm told
Haiku#1
gossip as stray cats
steals from the window ajar—
no respect for home
Haiku#2
wind blows aimlessly
scattering our untrained fires
across the terrain
Haiku#3
under his pillow
our boy rests a laurel leaf
in pursuit of dreams
You pull me from ash,
place your royal seal on me.
You welcome me home.
Who am I, yet You -
who formed the world, and all in
it; calls me His child.
When all worldly left,
beside me you came and dwelt;
within my spirit.
How great are your ways;
higher than all mountain peaks,
more vast than the sea.
How can I compare...
thee? My God there's none alike.
No God except You.
Poem in a day 2026.
Praise be to God Most High

vast blue ocean soul,
warm enough to drown me deep;
your love makes me whole.
bluebird, I must fly,
sharp claws choke my tender throat;
free me to the sky.
My maw groans, I browse
But empty fridge stares at me,
BLINKIT finds my house.
Amidst subdued yawns
Through long-winding verbal wail,
At late last it dawns
On all--the reason--
Tea break long overdue was
To freeze all frisson,
Comes when tea-coffee,
Stimulating morphed out mood,
Kills all atrophy.
Let no haikus rhyme,
But there’s no crime if they do,
Should lemon be lime.
For, here’s the last word:
You’ve the licence, break all rules,
Sing like a free bird.

Haiku, a traditional Japanese poetry on nature, seasons, or human emotions that captures a fleeting moment ever so briefly is increasingly becoming a playground for humour and wit in today’s world in hurry having no time for a long-winding punch line. Some haikus here say so in traditional three-line format of 5-7-5 syllables—in brief moments of minimalism.

From reflection deep
To tongue-in-cheek comic clip,
Haikus have held grip,
Poets caring scant
Have haiku boundaries bent,
And there’s not a dent,
From an art ancient
Holding a fleeting moment,
Hums of humour rant.
Humour all alive
In forward flow were to drive
Looks dainty if naïve,
If brevity rules
In this world of AI schools,
Punch lines look like jewels,
In haiku’s kingdom
Humour for long may well hum,
Not long drawn ho-hum.

The war in Iran:
Does Trump have a plan? Well, no.
Short attention span!
The Strait of Hormuz
is just no place for a cruise.
The POTUS? He'll snooze.
Department of War?
No one seems to know what for.
Really? Please, no more!
When darkest days loom over,
simply place one foot...
infront of t'other and walk.
In't valley or in sorrow,
one can feel amiss;
up then, look! To yonder skies.
T'field, where I lay, shall be
but temporary;
for eternity beckons.

A poem a day (long to reprise).
Earth:
Take off from the mass
Grounding oneself means standing
Barefoot on the grass
Water:
Fills every cranny
Obscure holes are discovered
Circulates freely
Air:
Time to rise to heights
Flight welcomes the curious
Breathe in wise insights
Fire:
Light shining above
Beckoning all Cosmic kin
Through beams they all love
Spirit:
A dream sparks on Mars
Spirits beam us way up there
To converse with Stars
Dream:
Dreams give hope to all.
Why not fly upward in Space?
Bright elementals!
Goal:
I'm flying to Mars.
I am on Mars in spirit.
Will be there on foot!

ONE

THREE
Airport told ‘shut down’
Cigarettes, coming to town
Balloon bud just found
Look in the mirror.
Who is that weathered, old man
staring back at me?
When did this happen,
Life replacing youthfulness
with experience?
Do others see me
as an aged progression
of who I was then?
Or as the version
I have now morphed into -
an antique vessel.
But mirrors don’t lie.
They just show the reflection
of a true image.
So, if I embrace:
“Who I am, not who I was,”
then there’s acceptance.
That gives this old man,
the one with weathered features,
permission to smile.
Hazel heart soul of gold
Amethyst art of story told
Indigo words speaking free
Kissing ears that hear breeze
Underneath the cherry blossoms
Singing birdsongs as we watch them
Courage is action
When terror strangles your heart
You act anyways
Violence subdued, men
Become peaceful, not harmless
Peace is self control.
Love exists only
When acted upon in pain
Love's not without grief.
