Firecrackers will ever crack,
And you will always have my back.
Do you think, when we took that car,
We might have gone a bit too far?
I don't think when you drove that loop,
We went too far with the coupe.
Anyway, there's no way to prove -
You see, the tires did not move.
We need not be doing time -
Dancing to Dorsey is no crime.
Tires not moving, it was hearsay -
No crime to dance to Jimmy Dorsey.
I could say the very same
Of dancing to Harry James.
I like Glen Miller! D'ya know a
Place we can do the Balboa?
Country bike rides, sharing clothes -
What wonderful times were those!
We shared them with our kid brother
Who hit one pitch after another.
Just three kids out in the sticks -
Edie, Esther, Buddy Hicks.

CRACKLING FIRECRACKERS
A dark inky sky bursts into crackles
Bang bang booms the joy of festivity
Sparkling sound I hear like popping shackles
Night's alive with whizz whoosh activity
Bang bang booms the joy of festivity
The acrid smell of burning sulphur taunts
Night's alive with whizz whoosh activity
Bright ambience where gunpowder scent haunts
The acrid smell of burning sulphur taunts
Sparkling sound I hear like popping shackles
Bright ambience where gunpowder scent haunts
A dark inky sky bursts into crackles

Two hearts met:
“firecrackers,” they said,
nearly six months apart,
‘works right from the start.
like rockets, their feet
shot off from the ground,
the sound most spectacular
a feat fated
for inextricable hearts.
Catherine wheels
connected for life, with
sparkler hands,
and of course,
she labored
with their firstborn
on Labor Day
and their youngest
inclined to kiss Christmas.

Fireworks creating, a huge celebration.
Independence day, uniting a nation.
Rockets zooming skyward, blazing bright.
Exploding with spectacular, shimmering light.
Catherine wheels whirling, sparks cascading.
Roman candles dancing flames, gaily serenading.
America, celebrating, the fourth of July.
Crowds gathering, where the stars and stripes fly.
Keeping up tradition, with a respectful manner.
Everyone singing, the Star Spangled Banner.
Reunions where people really belong.
Softly singing a patriotic song.

Freedom for Americans did not come silently.
It came like firecracker pops, with guns and canon blast!
Rebel shouts would shake the world, and a glorious past
Echoes still in our nation's collective memory.
Celebration of our story comes the fourth of July.
Remember that our many rights did not come quietly.
At the height of celebration, think beyond the revelry,
Cacophony that rules the night, and lights that blaze the sky!
Knowledge must be passed on down, never to be lost.
Everything the patriots did, our children must learn why!
Revolt was loud. It sparked a fire led by a battle cry.
Sacrifice and brave souls' lives were our freedom's cost.

Fiery flashes fill the sky
Into the air rise the rockets
Reaching for the stars
Everywhere you look are dazzling colors
Crash,bang,boom go the firecrackers
Remembering all those you help gave us our freedom
All around people are celebrating Independence Day
Come and celebrate with us
Keep those flags flying high
Everywhere you go you see fireworks filling the night sky then
Rushing to the ground like raindrops gently falling
So ends another wonderful Independence Day,with a bang

The firecrackers are so loud;
they can draw a very big crowd.
When they pop they form a cloud;
Lit my first one, sure was proud!

In a pick pack boom a wonderful light in the sky
Beaming gleaming screaming people out in the street
Watching the parade of light danced, glanced tranced
Happy sappy snappy to watch the firecrackers so beautifully
Amazing as it make the sky lively sparkly wonderfully
It shone in the dark out in the park making the mark
A sign of celebration in a cloud nine look so divine
Graces in the space a part of beauty to embrace

before night struck 11:00
anxiety inched one year older
in it’s timeless finesse
in classic manner strung across
the bed thinking of the rude
ness under the stairs
disregard of human privacy
thinking of throwing something
along with the celebratory toys
projected wantonly in the air
loud as ambulance sirens
murder nudged for a dance
but not tonight baby
goal tonight isn’t gettin down with
my get down
somber gestating Soul Brother
number one being done
hand in hand with a Dead President
if I didn’t know better tears
would follow but he did his thang
with the promised resurrection
on his good foot to glory
this world won’t see the likes of him
in this life... not twice
news covering wars
what’s right that the nations survive
another year
babies micro-waved and used for shields
molested like novice burlesque stars
smoking stale cigarettes
hopeful the next twelve
an amulet exegesis of amnesia
meanwhile marathons unified clarity prevails
settling beside ribbons...
under chandeliers of fire crackers...
all night
