Crackling Firecrackers

CRACKLING FIRECRACKERS A dark inky sky bursts into crackles Bang bang booms the joy of festivity Sparkling sound I hear like popping shackles Night's alive with whizz whoosh activity Bang bang booms the joy of festivity The acrid smell of burning sulphur taunts Night's alive with whizz whoosh activity Bright ambience where gunpowder scent haunts The acrid smell of burning sulphur taunts Sparkling sound I hear like popping shackles Bright ambience where gunpowder scent haunts A dark inky sky bursts into crackles Written on Jan 1st, 2021 For Eve Roper's "Fireworks" contest

Everyone is doing a very nice job with these fireworks. So interesting to see how different poets take the challenge. You focused a lot on the "smell" I wanted to fit that into mine, but just did not have enough lines to do it!
