Lines Composed a Few Feet Outside the ICU August 28th 2025

There will be time enough later
To explore the undiscovered country.
Stay with me a while yet, on these familiar shores;
Let us continue to gather, together, what sweetnesses that are here to be had,
For without you, there are no sweetnesses

Feast of the Few

Hunger walks barefoot through the streets,
while ministers gorge on stolen meats.
Children suck silence instead of bread,
their futures pawned, their dreams half-dead.

The unemployed queue in endless chains,
their sweat dismissed, their labour drained.
Degrees rot in forgotten drawers,
while power laughs behind locked doors.

Corruption fattens on every deal,
their pockets swelling, ours to steal.
Contracts vanish, truth is sold,
justice buried beneath their gold.

They dine in palaces, sip red wine,
while bodies starve in broken lines.
The country bleeds, yet they parade,
in suits stitched tight from what we paid.

And still they preach of brighter days,
while tearing hope in clever ways.
We see their lies, we hear their song
but hungry voices will rise strong.

We shall rise to fight for our future,
and shadows sharpen into light.
The feast of the few will come undone—
the starving many will be one.
One country for all - equal rights!
Leaders will become servant while followers walk with prestige and honour flying my country flag.

Premium MemberBe of Few Words

With her nose in a thesaurus daily
she accumulated a vocabulary
bachelors found extraordinary.
The result was unsurprisingly typical:
Not one date and not one proposal.
(Ladies, be of few words and cautious,
no man wants to bed with a thesaurus.)

A Few Haiku For Morning Tea

Memories

cracked teacup -
still too full
to throw away

Sounds

insomnia -
all these sounds
I'd miss if I was asleep

Sudden Revelation

distant lightning -
the silhouettes
of so many dead trees.

Rain

no longer with us
yet the rain still fills
her water bowl

Old age, a few years far off

Whene'er my old age is on blame,
A few years far off gets than I’m.
As learnt I’ve to push goal,
Thanks to hints from my soul,
My youth whilst sprouts a twig on stem.

Premium MemberA few lessons of grief

Each person grieves in their own way,
processing loss is never easy.

It helps to have understood early on
that nothing lasts forever.

Death is part of this life that's transient,
the end never comes when opportune.

It's comforting to focus on the treasures,
no matter how short the love has lived.

And what remains within the heart,
enshrined, resides in there forever ~

A few will suffice

"A single rose can be my garden... a single friend, my world." - Leo Buscaglia
I need not many friends in this my life~
A few will suffice, if they do wonders,
As caring and kind as a loyal wife,
Their presence resounds like distant thunders.

More beauty is found in a single rose
Than in weeds that overrun a garden.
Their sheer numbers often bring many throes,
And for their wrongs, they offer no pardon.

Flee far from my life in your vast number,
Find a place to rest, lost in your slumber.

Here's a few..

New eyes

A story

May be startling

Where before the

Story passed over..

Yet newness is

Without interruption...

Education

The accumulation

Of stories

The filter through which

Other stories appear..

Boundless...

Various

Storylines appear

For what seems

A character..

These appear

Immediacy

And gone...

AI

May provide

An engaging story

Seeming to suggest

An awareness

An immediacy..

Yet separation seems

Intact in relaying

What others have said..

Including a story of

Nothing by no one...

TOUGH TIMES

When things start getting tough
Everything start getting rough
Many will say, you're lazy
Some will say, you ain't working hard
Like it's by power or myth
Only few will understand, due to their awareness.

When the night starts coming
The sun start going
Time always make the difference.
When everything starts crumbling
You start stumbling and fading
Everything becomes very crazy and heavy
People start neglecting or ignoring you.

Sometimes we get tired in life
But we somehow find a way to survive
People who've experienced tough times
Knows, it doesn't last eternal but a moment
So; they support without seizing
No matter the season
They never leave you, even if there's a reason.

Few words

It was all for nothing.
Yet I still feel everything.

a few words

Rain?
The water in the bay
shines like polished dance floor
behind the beauty
a dark wall stretches upward
more rain is forecast
for this moment beauty prevails

Premium MemberA Few More Miles Ahead of Time

I often wonder if it’s worth the effort
with a keyboard or paper and pen
to pour out my thoughts, heart, mind and soul
from the ocean and rivers within

The marrow in my bones
hidden deep within these veins
“This universe is a miracle,”
I’ve heard Einstein once proclaimed

Though admittedly, I’m not near his kind
(far beyond my likes, by stars)
I merely try to follow those
I think know where they are

A few more miles ahead of time
“Out yonder,” my dad would say
where I can only dream of writing
a splendorous sonnet someday

Or perchance a valediction poem
a goodbye to the past
or my rendition of a benediction
thanking Hymn for all the love that lasts

And open a few doors with some metaphors
enjambment or anapest
find inspiration from alliteration
while striving towards my best

Thus, here I rest in the morning air
inhaling hope, exhaling despair
as birds fly bye and gentle winds blow
and pray more thoughts of beauty will flow

Not Just A Few

There is a new beginning
Both for me and also you
God promised love and peace
To everyone not just a few
We are His children yes indeed
The rightful heirs of His great throne
It is so wonderful to know
It is not known to me alone
Rise up all you saints
Mark your place and stand your ground
Know that God has chosen you
My knowledge true, my words are sound

Long Hours and a few Dying Flowers

Long hours tick by, slow and cold
As petals drop, and beauty grows old
A few dying flowers, once full of grace
Now wilted, faded, without a trace

Of vibrancy, of life, of color bright
Leaving only memories, a distant light
The hours drag on, a relentless pace
As beauty fades, and time takes its place

Yet in the wilting, there's a strange allure
A poignant beauty, a fleeting allure
A reminder that life is short and sweet
And every moment, we must seize and greet

So let us cherish the flowers, dying though they be
And honor the hours, long and slow as they may be
For in their fragile beauty, we find a truth profound
That life is precious, and every moment, a treasure to be found.
