Earth Shaking Poems | Examples

Premium Member The beat goes on

Since you have been gone
A lot of water has passed under the bridge

A mixed bag of events have occurred
Leaving behind earth-shaking calamities

Difficult to quantify
As confusion like whirlwind

Keeps spreading and threatening
The very fabric of National Cohesion

Nobody knows what to believe anymore
As looters of our commonwealth

Keep spewing unbelievable theories
From two sides of their mouths

Shamelessly going back To their vomit of years gone by
To satisfy the cravings of their current masters

While citizens continue to wallow in abject poverty
Confused and traumatized
Where their next meals will come from

As their purchasing power has been eroded
By the demise of the national currency

Clubbed to death by inflation
And market forces
Never experienced in our chequered history

Believe

Feeling distance, out of body feeling,
mind spaced out, numbness, no clarity,
running on cruise control, going through the motions
while the world runs normal pace.

The devil is testing me
I'm not going to let him break me
David stood tall beat Goliath
God you given me so many determination, power, and will
to break through all the obstacles that I came face to face
despite tears of pain , I've still stood tall
against all odds with your presence next to me

Your angels supporting me, showing the light,
I am not weak, I'm strong enough
to weigh the burden of this stress
knowing you are my rock, my salvation, my back bone
guiding me through the storms thunder n lighting
the light through the gray misty clouds n sky
at what may seem the world's end.

Bracing myself for the earth shaking/shattering impact
of continuous blessings in disguise
as I acknowledge that I'm blind
with your guidance you'll turn my blindness into clarity.
I believe

Rest In Peace Benjamin Oko

He was my former student,
In whom I found not a dent.
On the day he took the leap
I’d seen a knotted crowd weep:
Way back 1998
While Service Allowance did wait...

Passers-by he’d shocked with stereo:
A yelling one for “Cheerio,”
His reason ‘Quite Earth-Shaking:
“One could sleep off, no waking!”

He had me killed Ten times with smiles
And did me indulge no wiles…

Benjamin with no girlfriend,
Which I warned him to just end,
Whereupon he tried him to please
And replied next week with ease...

By me made to understand
He has to farm my own land
And he gave A Quick Alright
“I know tomorrow will be right.”

Owned cheeks I could swear puffy
And occupied a room stuffy
Or had he been asthmatic
And his attack automatic?

Not your fault Bright Light went dim:
You rest in peace Benjamin.

Eve of His Reign

facing the sunset
the lion king's on his hill
standing fierce and strong

Swans Drifting Away

a flock of mute swans
gliding on silver waters
under rose strewn moon

An Elephant Warning

I hear the trumpets
ears flaring, it comes running
with earth shaking news

Sunday Frolic

long ears, twitchy nose
wide eyes gleaming, bunny hop
green fields of Easter

The Newest Couple

Their wedding cake is perfect flour,
Rich, Fresh: A Never–To–Sour,
‘Pink Rose’ The Bride’s flower’,
A bouquet holding with excited power …

‘Husband and wife’ pronounced at Jesus hour,
As enemies helplessly glower,
While above them they tower,
Neatly forcing them to cower …

St. John’s Church Newest Couple,
Looking wondrously ‘The Supple’
To never themselves overreach
Nor matrimonial contract breach …

And what to that say, All Men?
An Earth-shaking “Amen!”

Trysts - Bite Size

Butterflies dance, with each glance
Desire burns, heart yearns

Truth aching, earth shaking
Forbidden lust, tests the trust

To share that we’re a pair
Is the want that deeply haunts

The Prince of Darkness Vs the Father of Greatness

His lips are the west gates of night
His lips are the east gates of light
Bursting night and light, we say thus:
“Lord, Father, have mercy on us”

His height is the five depths we view
His height is the ten skies of blue
Deep chasm and sky’s tower, thus:
“Lord, Father, have mercy on us”

He sits on wheels of fate that binds
He sits on the wheels of blessed winds
Wheels of stars, wheels moved by wind, thus:
“Lord, Father, have mercy on us”

Has a burning scroll blistering
Has a burning scroll flickering
Destroying flames, cleansing flames, thus:
“Lord, Father, have mercy on us”

His hand holds a wolf with no love
His hand has an eagle and dove
Earth bound demons, sky angels, thus:
“Lord, Father, have mercy on us”

His eyes are the black stars of might
His eyes are the sun in its light
Dead stars and twin suns that shine, thus:
“Lord, Father, have mercy on us”

Comets shaking, planets falling
The earth shaking, the skies crawling
When Jesus the Splendour comes, thus:
“Lord, Father, have mercy on us”

We must stay away from the night
The bondage of the prince of might
Lord guide us to you; we say thus:
“Lord, Father, have mercy on us”

Running and Roaring

Up to Mount Olympus
Where the Rabbi sits
Dolling out Mitzvah
In his sing song voice
Down into the pit
Where evil boils hot
Spewing out terror
In earth-shaking noise

Over to the West
Where the KING reigns
From a castle of blood
In-trenched by kids
On the winds of the East
Where the emperor struts
Whirling the air with breath
In disasters that alter the grid

One ROAR brings it all tumbling down....

Snow Prints

Pure and pristine
layers upon layers accumulate on the scene,
 cold winds blowing, sifting, drifting, serene;
the sun rising high with little warm
 blinding brilliance after the storm
 the land asleep safe and unharmed;
shovels scraping, snow quaking
 plows earth-shaking
 snow ready for the taking;
but in the yard, nature's warden
 the soft blanketed snow garden
 a pure untouched slate well pardoned;
where sandy fawns sleep
the imprints of large and tiny feet,
feathered friends and creatures come out of retreat,
squirrel tracks here and there
 comparable to a snowshoe hare
suddenly the world exists without a care
and peace returns for the moments marked
focus for the times harsh and stark
and futures upon which we shall embark,
leaving imprints upon the snow
soon enough, it's time will go,
shoveled to the side and swept away
waiting on the end of January days.

Please stand by for this important announcement
Of news you’ll most assuredly not want to miss
A newsworthy, earth-shaking pronouncement
More startling than your first unexpected kiss.

Your favorite television program is interrupted
Just when you’re about to watch Final Jeopardy,
You’d think the U.S. government was bankrupted
By the sound of the announcer’s anxious perfidy.

Instead, there’s a tennis player who’s deported
From Australia, his name you never heard before
Seems his lack of a vaccine he too openly sported
Forever, hereafter, he’ll never again be obscure.

All you wanted to know was who won Jeopardy
You had waited all day long for today’s show,
For you faithfully watch your program daily
To see the champion trivia winner’s earnings grow.

Sunday Morning Rhapsody

The early morning walkabouts
 gathers in the view
an ocean tide of green yellowed sprouts
 splashing throughout in garden cue
as flower buds edge forth upon the turf
and petal blossoms flutter down to earth.

It's late spring n pause assumed
 upon the garden splash
when flowers once budded and bloomed
but never seem long enough to last.
but there it is, a rhapsody
 somewhere hiding in tree leaves.

Unseen but well heard
a ballad for the seasons repeating
an echoed repertoire of a mockingbird
filled with spring and summer greetings
calling out melodies earth-shaking
enjoy the Sunday morning with little hesitating.

One Coin

Wool covered wolf’s heart
comfort driven faucet wash
not cold nor hot
fantasy circling yellow stuck
talent hidden spirit famished
switching gear to cruelty drive
unzipped wolf leaps out
surprising sheep with slaughter
and panic
adding war to plagues and famine
deeper in darkness soul iced
charity coin tossed out
and given to warm heart
making it hotter luminous bright
sun splendor at midnight shining
figs and olives together ripening
time to produce in season and out
earth shaking faith coins out
turning day to night
sign preceding Second Coming
to Jesus to give an account.
Time will not go back to normal
faith hidden is faith lost!
Led by Cross to glory
or by instinct to slaughter.
Christmas will be different this year.

BECAUSE I LOVE YOU---

The air you breathe;
Means, everything;
To me, because I love;

Those steps you take;
The streets you walk on;
The smell of your breathe;
Breathe taking, so sweet;
So earth shaking, You're complete;
To me, because I, I love you;

The air you breathe, means everything... because I love you
means, everything, because I, I love you;To me, because I love you;

The Torch

His mind turned razor sharp,
just like daddy's used to
when he told me i was wrong and to stop it,
(can a six year old be wrong?)

so til his mind softened like newly melted butter,
I carried the torch.

I carried it through the mudslide,
and through that earth shaking quake,
and back into the cold rain.....

I carried the torch,
and then one day,
we stepped into bliss.

(it was worth it)

Bad Habit

I love you
But I hate you
One look from those eyes
I adore you
Still waitin for you..to
Step up
Own up
Confess up
All those things you fight off
Like that real pain
It falls like acid rain
That damn good pain
Put it on me again
Drop me to my knees boy
You know you like it
Stop actin so damn coy
Golden stares matched
Two souls locked and lactched
Diamond cut skin
The devils made his way in
Earth shaking looks
Touches, split seconds leaving us shook
All the odds are stacked
Got that real thang
Rare thang
Natural diaster causin kinda thing
Walkin away
Always in a circle
All exits lead back to me
That is certain
