Discovering Light

Cry Ugly shame lost its power

Shame was regret…

Buying into malicious judgment I wasn't good enough…

He knew I was more than good enough… I gave all I was capable of…

He loved me because I gave 100%… even when my 100% fell short

He channeled his disappointment and hope through his poetry.

Discovery emerged reading his heirloom book… regret quickly segued into shame.

Shame perfected as a child… stepping stones used to set my foundation

Decades devoted to unraveling the source… reflected in the dark strands of thread woven in my tapestry

Oblivious of the light, silver and gold spun adjacent to and translucent overlay… changing the tapestry's initial designation.

Premium MemberDiscovering our true Self

To invoke God’s grace, we slow down life’s pace,
that we may cognise each offered surprise,
beholding in wonderment bliss beats rise
in the cave of our heart, soul’s dwelling place.
On recognising life is not a race,
we distance presence from the web of lies
spawned by lower mind, whence our ego dies
and then we see our true Self, face to face.

Our true being rests outside space and time,
made in God’s image, resplendent with light,
in ineffable peace, feeling complete,
renewing within itself bliss beat’s chime,
consciousness aware in drunken delight,
with pure intent emoting its love tweet.

Discovering Eureka!

Each day I exclaim,
display my satisfaction.
Have I found a solution
to my prickly problem?

Or have I found that rather nice town?
It's in California - right there,
on the arm of the Pacific.
A lovely place to be.

I might come across a wonderful alloy
made of copper and nickel.
It has a high electrical resistance,
and is quite cool. So cool.

Do I exclaim in order to praise
a town that's so good to be in,
a piece of metal that's so, so cool?
Ah, it is so. Eureka! Eureka! Eureka!

Premium MemberDiscovering Goldilocks

He discovered a little girl lying in his bed.
Shh! He told his wife. She is sleeping like the dead.
Baby bear wanted to sneak a peek at the human too.
Look said Mama Bear. What a cute tiny shoe!

Goldilocks woke up and was startled to see
Three grizzly bears winking at her, smiling with glee.
She had no idea how kind they all were and marvelously gay.
Running off without her shoes on this warm spring day.

A little story
            told by someone
          to make us grow up

           Scratching the eggs
            new eyes see the light
        a world to be discovered

Premium MemberDiscovering Agatha Christie

I discovered Agatha Christie, the author, when I was eleven.
I started out with “And then there were none”
after seeing it made into a move “The Ten Little Indians”.
None of her other books seemed quite so over the top fascinating.
But, I kept reading them because she had a thrilling way with words.
And I had a love of reading mysteries and biographies.

Discovering You

To get your attention, I’d sing in the rain
I’d dance on the tracks and tease a freight train

Write a benevolent poem of grandiloquence, pining and craving for your amiable presence.

I’d win the lottery and give it away, then beg for change on a corner all day, to buy a rose to pin to your clothes, I’d have spent it all on you anyway

Then

When I have you
I’d fold you up, tear you apart,
stuff you in a bottle and cross my heart,
fling you to the horizon where all the waves start,
I’d patiently wait for you to return to me then,
I’d get to discover you all over again

Premium MemberDiscovering Our Purpose In Life

From the moment of our birth
To the last breath we take on this earth
We are here for a purpose, not casually discerned,
Hopefully we discover it in life lessons learned.
That purpose includes a search for lasting peace
That our sense of brotherhood may increase,
We must accept our role in the cosmic universe
As we pursue narrow paths of serenity
Uplifting the Spirit in our small community
And treating every person we meet with dignity.

Who Do I Miss

Ferrying in the ocean of my thoughts,
I happen to see the dreams that I lost.
All alone and sailing on an endless ocean,
Deafening screams emanating from my lesion.
A moonless night that takes me away,
With nothing but pain leading the way.

I see a glint of light,
A radiant bird in flight.
I row to the end of the tunnel long,
To find me in the mirror all along.
I see the smile that faded from my lips,
I miss my merry sojourn and trips.
I miss myself most of all,
The happy version who slew the demon, and stood tall.

Time the healer at work again,
Allowing cheer and happy thoughts to ingrain.
I smile this time with a resolve strong,
Never miss me for the rest of the journey long.

Discovering the Real Me

For nearly three decades
She had been ruthlessly explored
Losing her identity, her independence
Her man always looking at her
Through his own selfish lens
She awaited discovery
Finding the ‘Real Me’
His liaisons
And ways of fun
Further freezing the cold relationship
Now for him
An unlucky turn of events
Meant
Some flattery, some importance given to her
So, the other day he said,
‘Let’s go on a discovery trail.’
She, as per her habit, remained silent
Knowing perfectly well
The endeavour would fail
And so they went
Hundreds of kilometres away
He searching for
That missing connect
Forgetting that in any pact
Both parties are equal partners
Unlike what happens here
His words always dominating hers
Now they’ve come back
Without any success
Their relationship in the same mess
But she happy at being again closer to home
At home, at ease
Her nearly three years of self-discovery
Result of
A lucky turn of events
Giving her oodles of confidence
An obvious comparison
Between two men
She has finally found
Her source of joy
Oh Boy!
She has eventually discovered
As the world rightly notices
From her boundless glee-
The ‘Real Me’

Discovering Joy

Joyful day, His countenance shines,
cookies, milk minds youthfulness,
a bag for friends,
pace their path
benign.

Enlightened smiles illuminate,
for 'tis diverse bounty yields,
amidst friends,
and shared
Word.

Be naught dismay or troubled looks,
disarray or disaccord,
'tis time to yield
amazing
lives.

Descending sun tenders adieu,
glad tidings round families meal,
prayers said fresh memories dreamt,
joyful night, His countenance glows.

Premium MemberDiscovering a Pet In My Soup

I could barely sit through the rest of the meal,
could not wait to get home, and pull out my find.
You see I had seen his gill slits as he dashed under the creole
It was a dwarf lanternshark, a particular favorite of mine.

The date was not going all that well anyway,
There would be no follow up calls to this man with a bray.
My attention was now on my soup, and the replaceable teeth
of this darling little lanternshark, that I saw diving down deep.

I stopped moving my spoon, and took the rest of my meal to go,
could barely wait to get out, away from this blow hard I did not know
I had never before found a lantern shark in my soup.
I stopped on the way home to buy him a lantern sharp coup.

Discovering

Let there be Light !
Let me show you the world
Through my eyes

See what underlies
The revolving sky's

Said the Pastor to the sheep

The future is bleak
When there is nothing left to be inherited by the meek

With the Planet bounding like a yoyo on a string
As it has run out of secrects worth discovering

Premium MemberDiscovering the Realm of Poetry

When we speak today we tend to look at words as a necessary constant with limitations of their own rather than a completely different cosmos in which we have the ability to traverse and discover.

Take a single resident of that realm for example; one individual word. Rather than looking at it as a compilation of letters, view it as a beautiful form in which you have the privilege of dressing. Turning it into a separate creation adorned by the complements of your choosing; a poem.

In the realm of poetry there are unending borders of emotion, philosophy, and beliefs that make it a place of residence like no other. However, you as the individual are the surveyor of your own boundaries; meaning that you run the risk of personally limiting your space within the universe of word.

Explore this new land and map its different landscapes. Become that which you are writing and attain the ability, the gift, to reach directly into the mind, heart, and soul of another person.
