Found myself doing my damndest to sleep through the day again.
Wake up, pull the wool over my eyes, block out the world, repeat.
Certainly not a positive omen (what with Halloween and November 9th),
so I force my eyes open,
if only to scroll for an hour or two
(anything to keep from slipping).
There’s a man on my screen,
dark bearded with an oaken guitar in his hands.
I listen to his sweet,
wine-dark voice,
and it begins to enter my bones.
Fills the holes in the marrow with the base warmth of love and life
and as the sun breaches my blinds,
everything becomes okay again.
Or maybe it’s just easier to breathe.
Wake up.
Wake up.
Arising from the south-west, us to bless,
Ye strike nigh like an invading army,
In a month’s time to conquer all country,
An invader benevolent, I guess.
Ye pour here, pause there, lay anchor in grace,
Then change gears to sprint, frenzy thy furrow,
In myriads of moods not easy to know,
We worry, ye arrive when late in laze.
It’s monsoon mood that goes to greet green earth,
Which, man has done damndest dire to destroy,
Pity, he blames thou as erratic still,
Whilst always indulging in a vain mirth.
As Nature’s child, bestow to us fair joy,
To hope, man learns seems a faith uphill.

Sonnet |10.05.2024| rain
Poet’s note: With the south-west monsoon, a gamble in hope, ready to break anytime, this sonnet verges on a wishful thinking.
When you love someone, through a lot of stuff you'll go
Mess, stress and heartache, sometimes it will show
Mostly when you least expect
The hurt; it will grow
They try their very damndest to see that it is so
Scowling, snarling and sneaking; they think that you don't know
But what they cannot see, is the armor that you tow
Wrapping you up tight shielding from the blow
Love will do a lot of things to protect from the grow
It has an understanding sense, and a striking sort of glow
The two of us staring
At the stars in the sky
Making wishes on comets
And things that fly by
What will we be like?
Where will we live?
We will we both be successful?
Will we both take or give?

Some are worth knowing
Some left in the past
Go in with eyes open
Your life will be grand
Just give it your damndest
And go lead the band
In the back of the pickup
My girlfriend and me
Make dreams upon stardust
At a quarter to three
We're out in the cornfield
In my old chevy truck
Planning out lifes direction
On a stroke of good luck

Some are worth knowing
Some left in the past
Go in with eyes open
Your life will be grand
Just give it your damndest
And go lead the band
It may be a spaceship
That's come down from afar
Or we may be there wishing
On some shooting star
Our future is waiting
There'll be tough times ahead
Meeting those expectations
We made in that truck bed

If I persue, I will do my damndest!
Hey I TRIED MY BEST!
The one you call yours.
The angel who sent a fun.
If you looked at me differently,
You look suppressed!
You hide behind your head!
Carpe diem!
To a solider who was the best homie at the time.
Prognostication
-_-Sleeping with a dagger?
It's a restless night, the days are getting worse,
Yet I have applied and asked for your help,
You prayed for a plague to rain on the! Only believing in what's right.
Forsaken and banished.
It's a shame really,
I inferred to much,
I wasn't use to the love,
Only after losing the realist,
Did I dream her saying,
"You idiot, I still loved you when you thought I didn't!"
Should've known this was happening,
Let it all go,
I rose up one morning,
"Look at yourself Evan,
You're worthless when you look like that!
Your present is now your future is in your present.
Your past will burn in the food you eat and go up in smoke."
I really miss you though.
It's a problem I have.
I just crave being next to you.
Time to get a job back?!
He came looking to be a cook.
Fight good fight of faith.
Listen now.
The enemy has no power over me.
The cowboy poet went out
for a breath of fresh air.
Then a shot rang out,
coming out of nowhere.
The bullet came straight,
flying towards him.
Now he’s a sad poet
who’s been shot in the shin.
He looked all around,
only saw the prairie.
Never found his foe
wherever he be.
Now for all his days
he will walk with a limp,
that sad, cowboy poet
who’s been shot in the shin.
Oh sad, sad poet,
never hurt anything.
Oh sad, sad poet,
no one of this will sing.
Oh sad, sad poet,
it’s the damndest of things,
to be a cowboy poet
who’s been shot in the shin.
He hopped to the house
and settled down there.
Friends sent for the doc,
who in an hour appeared.
The doc showed up
and made his in,
said,”Now who would ever
shoot a man in the shin?”
Took the bullet out
and he cleaned up the wound.
Then he tipped his hat
and said “good afternoon.”
As the years went by,
the mystery settled in.
Who would want to hurt a poet,
who shot him in the shin?
Oh sad, sad poet,
never hurt anything.
O sad, sad poet
what weirdness life brings.
Oh sad, sad poet
there’s no understanding
Why a cowboy poet
would be shot in the shin.
Seven ton's fell down that day.
Crushed my life and took you away.
Left me standing in a pile of rubble.
Still in shock, I'm afraid I'm in trouble.
Post traumatic shuffling of paper's.
A day in the life of the soul shapers.
Begins the journey to where, you don't know.
Starting over, like it or not, it's time to go.
The world today doesn't look the same.
Makes yesterday's world seem like a game.
The artists paintings are coming into view.
It's the damndest thing, now you know it too.
You breath in deep to slow things down.
To calm those nerve's and get out of town.
Leave behind them worn out shoe's.
Starting over, win or lose.
i speak to inanamic object
get up and walk now
go tom to the block house
but watch out
your a ninja be smart now
wait it, aint it painted
he said yes it's kinda crazy
i used to just sit there all day and
daydream
wishing about becoming everything i seen
i can't wait to check and set the scene
im thinking damndest thing i ever seen
An icechest speaking its enticing
he said im use carrying things by the cases
and i never leaked a day in my life
and i only spilt once since they built me
im serious he stole beer from me im furious
well tom report to me as soon as you handle business
u seem serious son, you've peeked my interest
he's like well sit here for a second be back in minute
im so high off the thought of just walking
here i go floating gentle as brreeze as gradual as a slope
whoa hold up i know her i recognixze that ass man
Thats Jazimine she used to sit on me every saturday
well hell all of a sudden im feeling lucky
but he trust me and i got a job to do
then i hear a voice saying now u got 2
what ever the order just take a pick
he said when i was created
I heard a voice saying always make a piece ass wait on me
If I do, I hope that I
Exit in the presence
of Jesus Christ
we go far back
do he and I
for his greater mercy
once saved my life
Five long lost years
have past since then
I gave my all
so he forgave my sins
a weary soul, crucified
I hope he's holding me
the day I die
I tried my damndest
to find the light
and when I found it
kept it in sight
it's never left me
I know I'm right
come try and take it
I'll end your night
I look up fondly
to the sky
an understanding
between he and I
one time I asked him
lend me his eyes
and I saw a world
left cold and dry
In conversation
we talk, no words
he understands me
when I'm most unheard
think I'm absurd
what are you?
a higher being?
still much confused
You think the answer
lies in your ways
I think the Devil
must be repaid
he'll collect heavy
your wasted time
as you spend eternity
at his side
I see a servant
for wickedness
try to distract me
one more dismissed
I keep on walking
through the night
as I keep his spirit
so well alive
I wear your pride
inside my skin
as you race to the finish
I just begin
to be a soldier
alone with the night
nothing to warm me
but his light in sight.
"Howard woncha say a few wurds?
Cum on Howard like over tha bird."
Says Aunt Jen visitin' fer the holeeday.
Weuns are seated tha eight of us at this here sumpchus dinner table,
Lookin' at the damndest big brown poultry ya iver seen.
Howard ma Dad is jist liftin' a forkful a meat drippin' gravy an dressin'.
Tha rest of us heseetate not knowin' what's a cumin.'
Our familee niver did give no thanks fer nuthin'.
Now dad lays down the heepin fork careful like chokes then beegins -
"Weeeellll Lord I chased ol' Mahitabel all roun' tha yard.
She knew what was a cumin' an' diseepeered inta the rushes by tha pond.
Couldn't see her nohow but put a barrel-full inta the weeds anyways
Heered this here squawk!
Looked all through tha stalks fer old Mahitabel,

But! Lord we do now thank ye most bounteefullee fer this here swan.
A men"
Was a long time coming
so many fruitless trees,
an autumn forest,
laid naked of it's leaves.
A hint of sunshine
but eaten by the clouds,
the clouds that so quickly
cover like a shroud.
The damndest thing
a fool believes
that love comes easy,
it always does in dreams.
Was a long time coming
but the taste of love sublime
a feast set before me,
forever will I dine.
A star falls to earth,
and with it my life,
she walked away from me,
taking my heart,
ever since I've been in a trance,
not knowing what to do.
Looking in her eyes,
I try to find her heart,
but another reflection looks back at me,
the pain makes me want to cry,
that falling star,
it was my heart,
it crashed and burned,
and now I'm dead,
and love is the damndest thing.
