You spent an hour in the mirror—
I spent an hour in the bar.
Your lipstick’s a death sentence
I don’t want to serve.
I walk through these rooms,
thinking of small deaths,
wishing I had the nerve
to pack up and leave.
You think I envy your silk shirts,
your hair that floats like smoke.
But I have my own ruin to feed
with whiskey and cigarette ash.
You are not my hero,
you are not my god—
you are a billboard
I no longer want to read.
Superman is virile, handsome, and powerful
confident enough to wear tights and a tiny red cape
regular men cannot hope to compete
they nurse their beers and change the channel
Then leave it Slowly. goes up and up in the air. Fly in the sky wholly
Compete with the birds If its tail cuts down better 'the head will splash by.
Buy it by money. You must not think a degree. It's a kite, honey.
Have you noticed how technology
Is more pervasive in the world of sports?
From the equipment to the playing fields,
Even their shoes ... and look at the shorts.
I can remember the days when basketball players,
Showed all legs from snug-fitting wear.
While today, high-tech fabrics surround them,
Like loose sheets that won't impair.
And now baseball players are much more athletic,
Rarely will you see a physique like Babe Ruth.
As they seek to train harder and consume the best
Nutrition, far less partying, and that's the truth.
Also now, we can see the rules of football evolving,
Seeking to be safer and more humane.
To the point where touching a quarterback is practically
Criminal, and using your head may damage a brain.
Yet athletes will always compete and seek that
Elusive leverage to be the best they can be.
Though the rules may provide fewer tools,
As they try to outsmart technology.
Never retreat, but ever try
Though you may badly fail
Let efforts reach the Sky,
To give God a pleading mail,
It is better to pray, never cry
As prayer will always prevail,
Attempt like the Sea-wave
Tempt may fear to enslave
With contempt, give it a grave
The problem you must face
And solve it with skill
Find out remedial ways
With an indomitable will
God is with you always
Prayer is a sacred pill!
when you're raised to be an athlete you're born to compete,
but not with any others, it's yourself you better beat,
it's the you you are today versus the you you were last week,
learn rewards from digging deep not from praise the others speak,
facing up to all your flaws if you don't your flaws repeat,
and if success means satisfaction know success will make you weak

Belgium All Star Festival
Variety of languages are being spoken
Church of Our Lady of Laeken smiles as she sees them gather
Across from her boats are being decorated for the festivities
We have the best festivals in the world, she thinks
Grand Palace would disagree.
She was haughty, and stuck up, thinking her festival was the top of the mark.
Flower Carpet Festival was fine but not held yearly, so Lady of Laeken discounted it.
We also have the Belgian Pride Festival every May, the bakery down the street
mentioned to her, so she knew she had been think aloud.
It was a fantastic festival too and well attended.
At least we do not live in Ypres the two landmarks said to each other, laughing.
That is where Festival of the Cats is held, honoring gruesome stories of throwing cats.
Church of Our Lady of Laeken felt sorry for her cousin St. Peter’s, for he lived in Ypres.
It was something he had to endure every year.
There are a few of those, who enter talent shows
because they want to be, one of those pros
Those who do compete, range from young to old
and have the strength, to be bright and bold
Some people start to think, I don’t like the look of you
but looks are deceiving, to not bring out a boo
Then out of the blue, you hear a great voice or two
and you think to yourself, phew, am I a bent screw
Being amazed at your talent, they give you a prize
so now it’s time, for you to stand up and rise
You need some help, to create a new life
so you listen to the experts, who know how to strive
They say your looks, need a big make up
so we can all feed, our treasure cup
Or what we good do, is just use your voice
with someone else’s looks, would be our clients’ choice
Because the beautiful sell, for them to feast
they are allowed to use and abuse, beauty and the beast
Words whispered into bullet holes in motel walls
how reliable are they?
They mean less than they did once upon a mattress
or underneath it perhaps.
Words bullying and strutting
Make no difference
when a mean one comes for you.
Words cannot compete with health.
I used to think otherwise but there are
so many interactive systems it is impossible
to cut out pieces or make sense of mere words
due to the fierceness of the illness presentation
which has no names but a variety of horrible
symptoms that keep me from finding me.
HEY STROKE TIME TO FIGHT
I didn’t give up
Yes, you made me tired of trying
But now I’m rested
Now I’m ready to improve more
Ready to keep going to 100%
Hey Stroke, time to fight
Love the challenge
You are a competitor
OK I’ll play
You’re on defense
Me versus you
Hey Stroke, time to fight
My first play is not in your book
I love people
I love life, even with the Stroke
You can’t beat what you don’t understand
Hey Stroke, time to fight
I read everything about you
Progress being made to fight you
My gains are slow
But they still come
Hey Stroke, time to fight
Discouragement, not going to happen
I will not be discouraged
I will win, you will lose
Stroke friends always encourage me
And I encourage them to fight you
You got some of them worse
But they fight their fight
Hey Stroke, time to fight
For those who believe
My biggest weapon everyone doesn’t have
You choose not to
I prefer to
Prayer to God for strength,
Understanding, determination
Last the discipline to fight
Against you and other life obstacles
The game is big
Thank you, God, for holding my hand
Hey Stroke, time to fight
Amen
they make their reality yours
get better marks in school
join a team and shine
make sure you grow
earn lots of money
money is life
you don't want to die
get a better job
a bigger house
another car
more money
that is the propaganda
what younger generations are taught to believe
but it is only an enforced enticement
to buy into a life of competition
that others may place their bets on wall street
and profit from others illusion of a reality
a certain prez broke existing nuclear deals
and says he/america should be the nuclear number one
that's the oldt propaganda appeal to the millennial generations

stan sand
From prehistoric stone there was sharpened a point then a spike:
chiselled and engraved and hoisted and thrust,
raised high above men toward a target lofty, afar in a field.
Competitors rose from primordial waters,
harpooning dreams and dripping ambition,
tired and bruised but practiced and hopeful.
Javelin was once rock was once bone was once wood
is now painted is now plastic - from caveman to athlete
from mammoth beater to medal winner.
From grey pebble there became arrow,
from misstep there became podium
and a golden first-place pedestal.
Lingering rays of sunlight slowly die
as scarlet burns the sky, where clouds ignite.
And while the birds roost, bats begin to fly,
capturing elusive moths in mid-flight.
Luna hangs high in an ebony sky,
spinning dreams into beams of golden light.
And twinkling stars, like fireflies in the night,
confetti the heavens, dazzling the eye.
Like gold filigree, pinned to the darkness:
galaxies adorn the heavens above,
and shooting stars unzip the black of space.
Yet, Man stands unabashed in His starkness,
for Nature's beauty can't compete with love;
an emotion intrinsic to His race.
Nature compares but classes
Are imminent and permanent
In levity of stratified system.
Even when a cat kills and eats
A rat it can't be equal
To a lion in the jungle.
Hunting speedy antelope
They may both be carnivores
But one is king of the jungle.
The stars compete for position –
Floating their weight on for connection;
As it’s always hard to live alone - Forming eclipses by relation;
Never caring when to take precaution –
Conscience is not theirs for correction:
The stars do pose for attention –
Looking down on the earth; where she places no restriction.
