Abandonment and Other Magic Tricks

I hope he makes you feel at home
hope it’s sweet when he’s singing you songs

I’m sorry I choked chewing on
my own tongue for too long

You’ve moved out
		and moved on
Making vacancy space inside my arms
but there’s something I’m still clung on

Vagabond who can’t wander on
or let go of that glimmer of home
I wasn’t living in love
but I was somewhere so close

Does he listen when you’re silent?
Does he watch you as you sleep?
Is it everything we were supposed to have?
I can’t help but feel like the trick’s on me

You said
	            he makes you feel
			                          like magic.

and I transcended, disappearing from the picture
as I imagined your passion

watched
                 my love story
    col lapse
                in
                  to
                        trag
                               edy
                                     in a second
                                                        and a half.

Premium Member Remember the Alamo

What Col. William Barrett Travis might have said to the defenders
of the Alamo on March 5, 1836, the twelfth day of the siege.

                      Remember the Alamo

My fellow Texians hear what I say
                      your courage inspires and leaves me in awe;
as I humbly stand before you today
your gallantry from which my strength I draw.

Sant’ Anna’s troops surround this mission’s walls,
                      and from this bout we face, there’s no escape;
we’ll fight to death until the last man falls,
and with the blood we shed, the fates we’ll shape.

For friends and fam’lies our lives will avow
the future hopes and freedoms they’ll attain,
and when the final man has made his bow,
please know that we will not have died in vain.

Our deeds here will forever write their scripts
when “Remember the Alamo” leaves their lips.

Premium Member Nothing Great Was Ever Achieved Without Enthusiasm

*title is Ralph Waldo Emerson quotation

Enthusiasm often is the reason
behind much-needed change and happiness.
Add zest to common sense and careful planning.
You hold the recipe to great success.

Though just the word “contagious” makes us fearful,
some things we spread are much to be desired.
Just think of how a smile and lively manner
spread through a crowd as others are inspired.

            ******************

The Bible speaks of our approach to living.
What gems of wisdom does the Word convey?
Do not be lacking in enthusiasm,
but serve the Lord with fervor* every day.

When Paul and Silas, jailed for their convictions,
sang hymns at midnight, hearers found The Way.*
Good works and labor, do with verve and spirit
to please the Lord; that’s what some Scriptures say.*

 *Romans 12:11
Acts 16 Jailor became believer, then family became believers.
		  The Way—Jesus
Col. 3:23 and Ecc. 9:10, are examples.

Lz X-Ray

La Drang valley 65
with air support we stay alive
The VC out number 5 to 1
The Lz X ray over run
the stench of death hangs in the air
Fallen soldiers everywhere
Bullets crack and shatter bones
Piecing screams and dying groans
napalm dancers lose there skin
Burning faces shrink and grin
3000 strong they Came in waves
To meet the shells that dug there graves
No time to say there last good byes
As He’ll fire rained from swarming skies
Col more the last to leave
the first to land the first to grieve
The Lessons learnt would turn the tide
A small victory for all those who died
The war was never going to end
now they know how to defend
Still more troops were sent in vain
More blood was spilled more hurt more pain
10 more years till sense prevailed
For all who tried but sadly failed
This war was wrong and now it’s clear
Don’t live in judgment or in fear
We all have the right to make a choice
Live together have one voice
Or have the freedom to evolve
Question figure and resolve
A different opinion a different law
It’s definitely not worth killing for

Premium Member The Tyrants Den

In tribute to Lt. Col. John W. Bell,
     B24 pilot during WWII.

He was an ace in his flying machine,
Could spiral downward at full speed,
Then pull out and level off just in time,
To touch down safely on the landing field.

Well taught and ready for hostile combat,
Sent off to fight, our freedom to defend,
Was not there to socialize or chat,
But to drop bombs upon the tyrant’s den.

Flying with skill of a bat in the night,
He hit the targets time and time again,
Each sortie could have been his last flight,
Into the cold heart of the tyrant’s den.

He sat bravely in the pilot’s hot seat,
Shrapnel went through the wing and cockpit pane,
But he flew committed to defeat,
The wicked intents of the tyrant’s den.

And when the final victory was won,
He came back home, a new life to begin,
In a nation singing freedom’s song,
Having put an end to the tyrant’s den.

Birdwatching

From a very little age, I have loved birdatching. before we go on a trip, we used refer some books and write down a list of birds to check on. we actually gave up this habit after several of our successfully planned trips had to be canceled due to disastrous weather. now I'm 15 and my friends think I'm nuts, but I still love birdwatching. we note down the birds in every trip and make a big list of the birds we've seen.

I have seen...
. IPH
. CS Eagle
. Sp. dove
. Col. dove
. RW lapwing
. Rv bulbul
. BHIbis
. OM robin
... I don't remember all, but the list goes to some number near 200...

*it's tiring to write the full names of birds when you just see them, especially when there's several birds in one place, so we devised for ourself a special abbreviated coding system, which may or may not give out some hilarious meanings.... anyway, here are the real names of the birds.

IPH - Indian pond heron
CS Eagle - Crested Serpent Eagle
Sp. dove - Spotted dove
Col. dove - Collard dove
RW lapwing - Red wattled lapwing
Rv bulbul - Red vented bulbul
BHIbis - Black headed Ibis
OM Robin - Oriental Magpie Robin

my brittle bones are like this fence, so built
on throes of horrors shrouded with the hilt
of war's inanely senseless blade, now dulled
by all the precious souls its edge has culled …

now ages gone, those boys amid their dreams
and yet the air still trembles with their screams
so daubed in bleeding sun, how death imparts
these fields of poppy roods and purple hearts.

They Call Me Wimpy

Today’s Friday special:
Two hamburgers for the price of one

Dear sir,
I will gladly pay you on Tuesday
for a hamburger today
My appetite is growling,
please feed me ... offer no delicious delay
I am a man of my word, sir:
the honorable Col. Mustard will vouch for me
A hamburger I must have,
I appeal to your sense of tomato compassion —
the wafting aroma is nearly overcoming me
Don’t make a proud man, such as I,
buckle to his knees for lack of lettuce
I will onion cry if I have to,
but sir, please, this don’t make me do
Public humiliation is very cheesy cruel
Must I double your fee,
if so, then thus serve me immediately
Before you discover why they call me Wimpy

The Wind That Blew

The wind started to blow
 It was a col breeze
 So peacefully the wind blew
Everybody and all the trees felt the breeze

It was a nice and calm wind
 The wind blew and blew
 Later, the wind started blowing
Everybody thought it was a nice, calm breeze

 Later, the wind started blowing
Everybody thought it was nice, cool, calm breeze
It cooled and clean the air
The people who felt the air blow

Looked around; I walked on and the trees stopped shaking
Things were the same as before,
The cool breeze that could not be ignored
As the plane flew over the town

Everyone found that day that the breeze
Was very soothing, but Lord, extra
