PRICE OF PUBLICATION

In the race for glory, endeavors misstep;
Ethics sink in quiet waters, so much at stake.
Each manuscript claiming to be novel and rare,
Questionable authenticity laid bare.

In the maze of journals and books,
Peer review marred; integrity shook.
Citations lose their poll;
Impact factor takes a toll.

Once held in high regard, research’s prophecy,
Now, metrics belittle its true legacy.
Is this the end of a genuine era we see,
Or the dawn of a calculated façade meant to be?

Premium MemberA Soul Divine

A candle burns deep, in core of every soul,
A sacred flame, an ethereal halo of intellect,
A guide heavenly, a mystique that educates,
Defying overtures of egotism and pettiness,

A beacon of wisdom beaming rays eternal
On passage to liberty that was always there
Yet, elusive to arrogance and ignorance,
Mired in obscurities and misguided fallacies.

Soul never rests, sailing vast oceans of life,
Whether upon apex or troughs of tides
Vying shores spiritual, buoying endearment,
Inviting apathy and hubris to temple of solace
Delivering words of sermon compassionate,

Teaching of awakening and enlightenment,
Liberating from beliefs narrowly defined
Toward empathy, enriching hearts, and minds,
Transcending to rebirth of happiness divine,

In harmony with salvation, an epic realization,
An epiphany heard through angelic citations
Emanating from influences beyond transitory,
Forever missives of attainment and peace,

Embracing serenity of solitude, clarity of being,
Achieving bliss of cohesion and congruity,
Set free beyond bounds of mundane, ordinary,
Attaining divinity in realm of humanity.

Nobel Prize Can Surprise

Grand Citations of The Still Sober
In Neared Radios of Fresh October
And one had in mind a Graham Greene
But - Lo! - Some Newly Discovered Being:
“Greene had a bit got sensational,
 His rejection not intentional.
Next, Some Writer with Proverbial Gun
But-Sorry-Rubber Bullets of Fun
A Gordimer Admirer piteous
But to Nobel “Pharisee-Righteous”
And therefore, should not cross The Gate
At its Precincts continue to wait…

A Rock Musician surprised by it:
He hadn’t realized The Candle lit:
Said to have delayed Letter of Thanks,
Afraid of Enemies’ Armored Tanks!
But his had been Years of Passion
What he did poetically fashion.
Churchill for “Speeches that fought Hitler”
How dare you hold such effort littler?
Pleasantest Surprise: Albert Camus?
With Dagger-Point Sentences he slew;
Calculate it: at just Forty Four
Clarity had him pushed to The Fore…

Nobel Prizes don’t aim to surprise
But might keep coming as A Surprise!

A Solitary Road

When we travel through the solitary road
Not taken by many of those happy crowd
Hardly we glimpse the direction board
Rather drench in the showers of depreciative words

Pondering over our desired destination
Wondering about the mystical citations
Dreading the results of our action
We may feel perturbed and agitated

Like a daunted child
Abandoned in the field wild
We feel exhausted and dejected
At this crucial time, will emerge an angel

Like the god who appears in a child's dream
To make him smile like a sunbeam
arises as an angel, our inner strength
Help us traverse the road lengthy

The spirit inside us hauls
good spirits and souls
Who will travel along with us
To make our journey successful

So when we travel through the solitary road
Not taken by many of those happy crowd
Never look up for the direction board
Do not carry those depreciative words

Rather kindle your inner force
For the road's end, it foresees
And drive you complete the course

Ogun aye

The man sneered
The man groans
The other dies
Yielding the sweetness
He solely yearned for
The woman rolls
She moans
She Shudders
as she is bitter
The others frets
huffing breathlessly
as they now dash
to then fro
offering citations without borders
lifting up spirits
making a run for the train
of ethereal bliss
As one of their own
offload her mortal burden

An Officer's Heart

Every night I go to work I put on my uniform
Kiss my wife and kids good night then do that to which I'm sworn
I never know what lies ahead on any given night
I could just write citations or be called out to a fight
We cops have gotten a bad rap but if people only knew
We're not out to get them there's so much more we do
We run into burning buildings to save people trapped inside
We try to comfort parents when they learn their kid has died
And when our shift is over and the reports have been filled out
Sometimes we get discouraged and often we may doubt
If this is our true calling or if we need to leave
We too are just human and many times we grieve
But in the end we realize we wouldn't trade a thing
Nothing can compare to the satisfaction our job brings

A Christmas Carol In Summer

Scrooge over. I hit Scrooge and over slept. It's Over Scrooge. I ride my Scrooger. It's so in right now. Scrooge over. You're simply in the way. The signs of pity instruct us to give em' a brake. We do what they say and we Scrooge down to the lowered speed limit. Scrooge over to the shoulder. Watch the state Scrooger painting the image of order with an iron cane which we must pay for because he must issue citations...Scrooged order! I'm so over this Scrooge disorder. Scrooge takes your order. Scrooge keeps everything nice and neat to effectively enforce order. Scrooged over. You crossed the center line and Scrooge pulled you over. Red-rover red-rover, end Scrooge order on over—

-end

Author's Note: Wouldn't it be super fun to gather up a group of people and randomly dress in Christmas clothing and go door to door caroling in the middle of summer...?

Let’s Make A Deal

Wife said to husband, “Stop for directions, and I promise not to shop for new shoes”.

Whether your team wins or loses, you’ll pay for chips, dips, and carpet cleaning.

I said to a friend, “Have a nice day”; he replied saying, “You can’t tell me what to do”.

Kidding I guess, when daddy said, “I’m going West, where the eagle builds his nest”

Over a 40 year period, I 've earned 7 or 8 traffic citations; my wife has absolutely 0.

For Nineteen Years

They are poor…they’re removed, they struggle through life,
Every day is a burden on the edge of a knife,
They’re stuck in the circle, that’s all that they know,
And there’s not work around, and nowhere to go.

But a man full of promise says he does understand,
‘My names Uncle Sam, please take hold of my hand,
I’ll break the circle, and then I’ll bring you back,
After a year from somewhere in Iraq.’

She stands at the cemetery gates.
A small bunch of roses and holding back tears.
Just three hundred steps to a name etched in stone
That’s all she has now… for nineteen years.

On the mantelpiece over the burning wood fire,
A son’s photos, citations from her country’s desire
as she sits and she weeps on the madness of war,
And his last words she heard, “What am I fighting for?”

She stands at the cemetery gates.
A small bunch of roses and holding back tears.
Just three hundred steps to a name etched in stone
That’s all she has now… for nineteen years.

Sheep and Cattle

Sheep And Cattle

The government issued citations today
My sheep and cattle are not welcome into town no more
They must wear diapers in the fields
And not allowed outside on Sundays
No more grain or grass for them, the complaint read
No more manure
It is a matter of manners
Sheep can be used exclusively for stews
Cattle must become hamburgers and wear brown shoes
No more farting in the meadows
My animals give off gases which is against the laws of nature
Destroying the ozone levels in the process
Offending the atmosphere
I have no clue who creates these laws
Politicians with nothing better to do
Someone needs to remove their heads from their posterior
Or my animals will stop producing food

When Solar Flares

When Solar Flares

Give The Sun Citations when it disrespects the laws of nature
For not following ways of man at all cost and cause and case
No matter what your rules might indicate
A certain fate awaits

Space between all atoms is enormous
The reason we don’t walk through walls
Or fall through floors is not magic
Atoms don’t hold themselves alone, suspended in empty space

It is magnetic fields that react to those two forces
That keeps the universe in place
When sun’s highways of solar flares, stream in channels
Travel in their respective places, all is well and fine

When they follow normal traffic rules and stay in lanes
Suns don’t have our mind
They seem to stray in more than one direction
Magnetic streams collide, send corona blasts to Earth

When solar storms collapse for months or years our infrastructures
Say good bye to power grids and life as you once knew it
Prepare to rub two sticks together for heat and warmth
Get out bongo drums
Tap text messages to your friends

Premium MemberA Hooded Dream

Africa mother Africa
Africa of scrumptious haven
Slowly stretched
Into an unscrupulous savannah

Africa of whom my grandmothers
Now sits and cry
Singing her present gore
Silhouette against her ancient glory

Your blood flows on our streets
And on our streams
Your beautiful black blood
That in time past flows in our veins

Africa that birthed warriors
Of ancestral citations
Now puppets of millennium recantation

The sweats of your toils
The scars from your slavery
The cry for your freedom
How come this has now
Transformed into a mastery
Of your present folly

You whose back was bent
To pack from her plenteous plantation
Now breaks in the continuous bid
To pick form her present carnage

Battlefield Tribulations

Come on brain
Lets do this *****
Conjure these flows
So I can to spit
Not no dumb dumb
Something they can feel me with
Something hard never soft
Something tight
Right from the top
Come on come on
Yep
Entire nations
Move to motivation
And to battle stations
Thus
In hopes of annihilating the competition
With extreme precision
Visions of battlefield tribulations
Proceeded by extinction
Of entire nations
Readily available are these citations
And accusations in quotation
It is written
Proceed with caution
This is an extreme soul snatchin'
Operation
By the best in enemy infiltration
Leaves souls wasted
At the gates of hell
Is were I wrote this
And the deepest of holes in Facebook
Is were I'll post it
And show off my skill as a venomous poet

Listen

just when i needed a time...
a warm hug to comfort my frail mind
to free my self from anguish..
frustration...

i..

hidden beyond the light of wisdom,
succumbs to aggravation
where journey to hope is rejected
hinders thy first steps...

i...

need soft winds to whisper my citations...
just a minute console
should you turn and listen
even for just a second...

i....

whimpers inside without tears..

i cant see anything

please...

just...

listen.....

Oil Spill

Worst oil spill ever
I thought these people
were more clever!

They are so smart
that they take no advice
But we are the ones who suffer
when they raise our gas price!

With their oil on our shores
they have now become slick and filthy
At each other they point the finger
but to me they're all guilty!

While even our wildlife
is drenched in oil
It continues to
contaminate our soil!

With hundreds of citations
and regulations put aside
Our enviroment and our health
will continue to plunder, not only here
but in all nations world wide...
