in the square, light encircled
choristers of yule
who incanted charmingly
as the dew sank cool
on their rouge berets,
cardinal cloaks with green socks—
a cordant bouquet

Premium Member Reflections

Poetry is written with reflections
of dreams, pregnant with thoughts
born from openly emotional hearts.
Nurtured by a poet's experiences
and whimsical musings, charmingly penned.

Sometimes vivid imaginations run wild,
scribblings as if a child.
Casualties crumbled on the floor.
But flexible is the quill
and ink continues to spill.

Poets often sit in shadows,
and locked behind closed doors.
Aborting verses they haven't rhymed,
frequently losing track of time.
Sunrise mornings become stygian nights.

Premium Member Suggestion By My Uncle

My young blind date thought he was hilarious
His antics were corny, ridiculously overdone and nefarious
Mother thought he was charmingly gregarious.
Why don’t you date him? Suggested Uncle Darius.

Neonate to Dotage

“Age merely shows what children we remain.”
- Quote by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
---------------------------------------------------
charmingly weak, weakly charming
begins life, begins cessation
toothless smile, baby breath, wobbling
charmingly weak, weakly charming
true babyhood, true senescence
depending, needy, demanding
charmingly weak, weakly charming
begins begin, begins ending

Premium Member Divine Madness

The woman whose eyes tell a tale of a different story captures my curiosity. Wiser than her peers, whom she has fooled with a nonchalant exterior and disregard for her surrounding animosity. I see a heart and a real mind that's full of kindness and generosity.

Fierce and gritty, humour sharp and witty. Witnessing her side of madness she's kept hidden from the world, to me is such a pity. I am intrigued by the woman who smiles at me from across the room, so charmingly and pretty.

Observing as she tucks a loose strand of ringlet curls behind her ear, truly feels sublime, I could listen to that laugh forever, a timeless-sounding chime. Slowly in my direction and then closely walking by, the floral scent she left behind is sweet and intoxicatingly divine. I've yet to think of how, nor do I know when, but the woman whose eyes are full of tales, one day will be mine.

To be her true self always. To feel loved all of the time

Meeting the Artist

The Cape Cod Museum of Art had a show
And we caught it the very last day,
Displaying the various works of Bob Staake
In a can’t-help-but-grin type of way.

If you don’t know his work, you must catch up at once
For each piece is a total delight.
There are mobiles and posters and sculpture galore,
Plus the many kids’ books he did write.

In addition to works, what he really does best
Is to illustrate, so you may find
That his fabulous artwork accompanies, too,
Others’ story books that he designed.

If you read The New Yorker, you won’t be surprised
That his covers have often appeared
And each one is a gem with a sly kind of wit
That is perfectly, charmingly weird.

Luck was shining on us, for the day we were there,
We were in for a most special treat.
Mr. Staake paid a visit and we got to join
An impromptu but sweet meet and greet.

What a wonderful way to be able to share
Your esteem with the one who inspired
So much joy; it was thrilling to let someone know
Face to face just how much he’s admired.

Premium Member Modesty

Modesty is no virtue
when it comes to love.

Love should be worn
brightly~ daily! Nightly!

Shouted loudly! – Boldly!

Let love's many voices
Sound~ Rebounding heart-felt
joyful echos –

Sing love's lovely delight!

Shake the earth with
together vibration; let the
universe hear love's clear
clamor – let fly amorous
moon-beams – let stars' starry
eyes open wide to the sweet
dear call of comforting nestle –
let love be the body's spiritual
vessel

All depends on love's, dreamy,
gleam-y, creamy honey flow –

the child, needing love if
healthily, affectionately to grow –

the blossom needing love if
to dazzle, wink, make flowery show –

love must be freed, if love
to charmingly glow...if a heart
to ever another heart intimately
know –

Premium Member Two If By Sea

Although this seems a light-weight mystery,
This was a code word of war history;
Resembling, as though words romantic-thrilled,
Volumes these words spoke of fear, frantic-filled...!

It's like the radar of war times present,
Two lanterns if by seas the foes are sent;
Bells of the church must peal once if by land,
Or twice if the 'regulars' through seas stand...!

Revere rode from Boston to Lexington,
He proved, like a fox very vexing one;
The enmity that roamed like a monsoon,
Broke out like a premature child born soon...!

Winning or losing, like day and night, goes,
Man's or woman's strength, like the moon, truth shows;
The phrase short; freedom won; Wow! Longfellow!
How charmingly have you depicted this show...!!!

Something, as though divine revelation,
Had dawned American liberation;
History, mystery, poetry mix,
From blistery great liberty did fix...!

Cats Don'T Last

We will let you become so weightless-

That your paw prints fade out.

So that we cannot follow.

Cats live charmingly.

But they don’t last.

Premium Member A Lovely Sky Needs Clouds

light keeps the sky
somewhat hued
beyond hills
vibe to bliss
sundown pyres
merge in cusp
unquenched gloat
the sun-kissed clouds

poised by the deep and azure sky
deepening in blonde light
the beauty of the sight
desires a cloudy sky
spruce charmingly flow high
landscape partially brown
weeds wangle and stay down
autumn's charm pique on soft bed leaves

Magic Spell

Pour your self-love
In your heart
And decorate it
With the flowers of hope
Then you will see
It will be charmingly
Kicking and ticking

Oh! My friend
Consider this as
A magic spell

THIS IS AN OPEN(organic) FORM VERSE without grammatical symbols the ' open' relies upon 'the one breath limitation' & so inherently requires the 'reader' (reciter) to input and respond thus making the form a two way interplay and often a unique interpretation by the enigma so derived
