Premium Member A Man of Kaleidoscope Eye

A man of kaleidoscope eye
Devoured all manner of pie.
Apple to rhubarb,
Crusty with full carb,
The pie in his eye made it fly.

Premium Member Angry Goddess of Daisies

irate Goddess of Daisies did not get her due
wrath of her anger rivaled that of old Sue
I’m a major deity, she yelled to bells blue.
with complete jurisdiction over the likes of you!

bluebells liked the Goddess but wisely kept quiet.
not wanting to start a crucifixion or riot
Goddess of Daisies had been on a no-carb-or-sweet diet
they decided to dine without her, at the Regency Hyatt.

Diabetes in Golden Years

In twilight’s golden years they stand, The elderly, a resilient band, But diabetes weaves its silent thread, Affecting lives where it threads.

Sugar’s dance in blood a subtle strife, Stealing sweetness from their life, Their body weary, yet heart so strong, They fight each day, all life long.

Their limbs once spry, now move with care, As neuropathy’s touch leaves its mark there, Yet hope persists, in their steady gaze, Defying the toll that conveys.

They count each carb and prick their skin, Managing sugar, from within, Medications and insulin’s grace. In this battle , they find their place.

Yet in their eyes, a resilience gleams, A strength born from life’s varied streams, For though diabetes may cast its shade, they face it with courage unafraid.

So let us lend a helping hand, To those affected, to understand, The elderly fight, With love and support, make their burden light.

On Point

Pith is pithier than pithy
-it’s not a question of if.
You know atoms are tiny
when you get at ‘em.
Sometimes they’re the point.
Meanings have layers
like lasagna.
Two or three should suffice.
Any more is a little less nice.
Less is more is the better
advice.
But I sense I said that twice.
Lasagna and spaghetti
go to together like a Yeti
and Big Foot.
So maybe skip the spaghetti.
Are you aiming to have a carb overload?
You better avoid that road.
I like little feet as opposed to a big foot
-they’re tinier.
More minor.
Less dimensional.
They can be on point
-and that’s plane to see.
I could say more but I don’t see
the point,
in that case.

I had put our meeting off so many times for fear that it would fail, and be a waste of time. I prepared a lovely salad. Thought I'd make some mayonnaise. The kind I thought you liked, with a yolk of free-range eggs, gluten-free and ovovegetarian. Low-carb to be on the safe side as well. Not the bottled commercial stuff full of preservatives and chemicals, but hand-made fresh from scratch au naturel, sweet, tasty, tangy and lovely.

I gently beat the egg yolk and slowly drizzled the vegetable oil into it a few drops at a time, while whisking, relatively not too briskly. I thought all was going ever so well. But the mixture became clumpy and lumpy as the emulsion broke, fell apart, and separated. I started again, mixing ever so slowly this time to bring the immiscible oil and yolk slowly together to meld and combine. But I failed again and again and again.

Out of eggs, with no time to get more, I made a vinaigrette instead! Oil and vinegar, smooth and rough, sweet and sour. They meld so well, despite their relative quirks and differences. No yolk this time. Touche.

Premium Member Success At Last

Julie tried every diet known to man
Weight-Watchers, Atkins, Keto, SOTA (State of the Art)
    Low-carb, hi-protein, even vegan

  Nothing worked; Julie gained weight
So she began to exercise madly
Which just made her menstruate late

Fed-up with it all, Julie took one last chance
She decided a starvation diet was needed
    ~ And she succeeded

Eating

Sometimes we eat when we’re hungry
Or else when we’re just in the mood,
But everyone’s habits are different
In how we relate to our food.

There are 3 meals-a-day folk as well as
The ones who skip breakfast or lunch
And grazers who nibble for most of the day
Or snackers who in-between munch.

There are people with junk food addictions
And those who shun pork, beef or fish,
While the gluten or carb-free among us
Pay attention to what’s in each dish.

As for sweets, that’s a whole other story –
When you think about ice cream or pie
Or the various candies and chocolates
Without which some could never get by.

Just consider your own way of eating
With the foods you enjoy or you sneak
And you’ll realize, if you broach the subject,
That our diets are all most unique!

The Aftermath

Twas the day after Thanksgiving,
And I weigh a Buck Fitty.
Ain't NO regrets,
Because my Bread Pudding
was litty.
I ate ALL the treats,
and I enjoyed ALL the snacks,
So I'm not surprised that
my Hot Cakes are Stacked.
But, it's time to reign it in,
No more getting
"Carb~Lit"
Because "Sucking It Up"
feels different,
When my size 4s FIT fit.
So, I'm back on my grind,
with Keto that &
Macros this,
Because popping it,
without trying too,
Truly ain't it.
Pop Pop Pop Pop it!!!!!!
I'm Stopping That Shiiii.

A Synopsis At Sixty-Nine
By: Tom Wright
2/16/2008

A time when life’s not chocolate cake
When gait has slowed and sight is dimming
My cholesterol is high and joints all ache
And packed on pounds are not trimming

An enlarged prostate now gives concern
And blood pressure looms out of control
Though for the hot wing days I still yearn
They have no place within my present goal

I struggle to keep my blood sugar down
While diligently trying to eliminate Carb
But most days’ readings bring on a frown
Eating has become just one constant barb

If it grows in dirt or comes from a tree
It’s interlaced with carbs and must be sparing
If I run it down to kill it, no carbs and it’s free
But remember, fat content I’m also paring

If my meal tastes good so I’ve been told
To quickly spit it out, don’t let it wallow
But the temp in Hades will be mighty cold
Once across my gums I chew and swallow

So I swallow pills to combat each thing
While heart, lungs and liver are still fine
I think of the adverse effects pills bring
And listen to my stomach growl and whine.

Going Keto

just saw myself in the mirror
after feasting a box of pizza
cannot stand the sight of horror
and realized 'twas a bad idea

the main goal is to get lean
have my ass busy and active
but i'm lazy af to go clean
i guess its fate to get massive

got advised to get balanced diet
to lessen on sugar and carb
but the cravings are hard to quite
even giving up rice for lard

so this is what they called keto
gobbling more on fats and grease
less on meat, rice and potato
and more on veggies and cheese

some of you might get irked
but i need options and hope
please advise will this work
before i eat up this whole loaf

Happiness Equals 20 Pounds

happiness equals 20 pounds
this added weight is getting me down
once stick thin but alas, no more
putting it on was an easy chore

don't get me wrong, I'm not bitching
but for younger days, I am wishing
way back then I was much leaner
now flab is part of my demeanor

going to boot camp, eating low carb
so I can wear a lot less garb
losing ten would be just great
listing everything that I ate

the older I get, the harder it seems
to shed these pounds is not a dream
working hard, making calories count
it will fall off I have no doubt

up and down the spinner goes
maybe the scale is a lie, who knows
but I'll get fit and stay that way
and still keep happiness in each day

The Houston Melt Down

Now that fat has been vindicated as a good guy,
and sugar is the devil,
the theory of sugar scratching your blood vessels,
before turning into fat,
may be giving you a stroke,
potatoes, white bread and rice,
are good to a certain point,
the delicious and protein satisfying point,
your carb tolerance level,
depends on how much protein you eat,
protein cures, helps to burn carbs,
not the other way around,
here is some easy three food for the flood zone survivors,
cut an onion bun into two equal halves,
place a slice of shaved ham on each half,
as well as two slices of a mild dry salami,
then melt some cheese on broil in a toaster oven,
until it spills down the sides of the bun halves,
if you have a salad with that, use two half dressings,
one creamy, one vinegary,
and a coffee with three cream and one sugar for desert.

Premium Member Happy Resurrection Sunday

I wish you and your family a blessed holiday as you enjoy all the good things on the menu. Let's see: help yourself to patience (the appetizer), a hefty portion of love
(the main course), good health (the carb), joy and unity (the green and yellow veggies), kindness rolls, peace (the dessert), and plenty of humility (the beverage). If you practice self-control you should be fully satisfied at the end of the day.

Premium Member Evaluating Limits On Carbs

Very low carb diet is any diet requires less than 50 grams of carbohydrate per day
Eating a healthy diet on this level of carbohydrate restriction is impossible
If you tried
You’d be eliminating too many foods rich in vitamins
Minerals
Fiber and cancer fighters
Getting essential nutrients from foods is always better than getting it from supplements

Moderately low-carbohydrate diet
Such as this one
Includes 100 to 150 grams of carbohydrate per day
The minimum level to prevent loss of clean tissue from muscles
Organs

A high carb diet
Includes more than 250 grams of carbohydrate each day
This is appropriate for active people who are at a healthy weight
No matter how many grams of carbs you eat everyday
Fruits
Vegetables
Whole grains
Legumes and pasta
Should be the main food sources of carbohydrates
With added sugar sources kept to a minimum
