One glance and flames set ablaze
His fluttering heart in a daze
Like a spinning kite caught in the wind
It has no fear of fall nor singe
Consumed by love’s eternal flame
He seems a man somewhat insane
His smiles once rare, make no retreat
Constant and fierce as desert heat
Now broaden as hot flames leap

Brigham Young, the Mormon prophet
Pointed to the west; they crossed it
North, east, south, west sent colonies,
And has his name on universities.
Brigham Young, who led the Mormons after the assassination of their founding prophet Joseph Smith, led the Mormon Pioneers from "Winter Quarters" (a spot near what is now Omaha Nebraska) to what is now Salt lake City, Utah, then established colonies in most of the western states, south-western Canada, and northern Mexico. Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, is the largest religious, and one of the largest private, universities in the USA, and has branches in Hawaii and Idaho. There is a monument in Washington DC to B.Y. for him being the great colonizer. Most groups that went west did so seeking gold or land, but didn't worry about those who followed. When the Mormons crossed, they widened mountain gaps, made maps, planted seeds, set up river crossings etc to make it easier for later groups to follow.

A collaboration with Annalise Brigham
On cold wintry days when my thoughts take flight
I‘m off to the great Pacific and her tropical lands
All exotic remnants of paradise in plain sight
How like footprints they seem upon the ocean, grand
Lush, vibrant green foliage and the richest colors ignite
As palms dance the Hula under a dazzling sun
Encircled by warm trade winds infusing daily delight
As four islands still evolving, offer us endless fun!
The four Hawaiian Islands- Honolulu, Kauai, Maui and Oahu
I wander through the town in which he lived,
Believe I feel his presence all around.
I visit places that he must have loved:
His childhood home, the church and New Place ground.
I lay a single rose upon his grave,
Sincerely wishing that he would appear;
I close my eyes and, smiling, think of him.
Ah, I love Stratford, home of Will Shakespeare.

To see earth's face through angels’ eyes
Afloat upon cotton clouds 'neath the skies
And hear noth but the whistling soft winds
Which encircle me like feathered wings
Too long these feet of lead have held to ground
On stone where porous clay abound
While spirit yearns to ascend the heights
My bucket list consists of one sky jump
To soar blue skies o’er land and sea
Fly solo as a bird, keen and care free
Where noise and din then become dearth
My eyes will feast on the radiance of earth
As golden wheat fields sway to and fro
To softly land in mounds of hay below

Crescending melody

Tempered cooling
Immutably alive
though silence overshadows

night creeps steadily
adorned in dark velvet cape…
watching as men sleep
crickets sound their shrill
bullfrogs play tuba and base…
shooting stars display
day rolls in bright-bold
night in surrender recedes…
rays of gold invade

God, grant me serenity…
Amidst the chaos and noise
Let me journey in simplicity
Bid me, listen for your voice
And when temptation comes to call
Hear my cry; draw me near
Lest I stumble hard and fall
Grant that I may never fear
The subtle guile of the serpent’s tongue
May I not be blind to another's needs
And keep your Word in my heart a constant song
For only in you do I find peace and my spirit is free!

“The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness therein, the world and they that dwell therein”
A Psalm of David…
Solitary, I stand upon these ever changing shores
Where sun, sea, earth and winds abide
Where time and tide flow forevermore
In a timeless waltz, as one, they reside
Within this glorious setting sits a conspicuous ruin
A beautiful church built with mortar and stone
Stones carved and laid by hands, gifted and willing
And now vast blue skie replace the old wooden dome
B'neath sits an altar graced by Morning Glory vines
Ascending, yet, to the sun and matching blue skies
While fragile walls hugged by bougainvillea climbs
Well dressed in their shocking pink and white styles
And though silence prevails, I hear a choir of nature sing
Melodious chants echoing within these broken walls
Where the elements congregate and worship in sync...
Transfixed; I kneel in worship and my soul gives its all!

It' so easy to imagine that a creator would impart
To all his creations a bit of himself in each heart
When my soul cries out, yearning for connection to the light
When words and no earthly love prove enough to console the blight
Music and meditation are blessed stairways which lift me upon wings
Transporting to a sacred place of worship beyond the worldly strings
Where no religion, or walls of stone would affect
Subliminal commune of light with light in a deeper respect

Don’t promise me the world
That’s not yours to give
Neither promise me forever
When all you have to give is today
Just give me your today
And all it encompasses
And should forever come and finds us here
Our mere presence would speak of our genuine love

Truth is easy to write as its fluidity resonates!
At times I read people well, and sometimes, not
This is one of those times I have it right, I believe
He’s an excellent poet with a gentle soul
Blessed with a wealth of knowledge
Already excelled in the craft, now he writes for the joy
Self-assurance shows and he's confident of his worth
Honor he bestows when he leaves comments on my poems
We are graced by the presence in our midst
Of a Doctor of Literature, so unassuming
Always courteous and seemingly devoid of ego
That he would bother to read my poems
Tells me I am not too bad at all
I can tell when he truly enjoys the read
And when he’s merely being polite
For me, Dr. Ram’s comments are better than gold

Fairies Gala
Fairies waltz on branches of oak
In cool, misty haze of morning dawn
translucent wings laced with fine golden strands
fluttering 'midst dense new leaves
glistening in sun light
dew-drenched knarled trees
guard lush green enchanting place...
Kissed by morning sun
intruders
turn on
sprinklers
