Reverting to an early childhood spell,
when rainbows had this fascination for me,
and still do much to my delight,
wonder in the skyline boondocks,
hoop of lavish colour one can dream of,
fantasy afloat on sunlit cloud,
imagining another world so bright,
alphabet not needed when budding minds glisten,
to chase that buoyant marvel,
even on a lax afternoon,
is that ultimate peach exploit we cherish,
especially for those who fancy stimulus,
pot of gold prospect never seen but might appear,
band of chalk-spun phantom’s mirror bend,
wizard plait that spur to haunting pigment,
madrigal for pearl-eyed infant haiku,
or maybe tanka, pantoum, verse
on fabulous enthralling pen craft
Arc of hues celeste
weave dreams for starry-eyed who
crave earthling peak bliss

MINETTE
( Free Verse )
How lovely thou art
A beauty that enthralled his heart
Wherever he is assigned
You are always in his mind.
Whether he is in the boondocks
He thinks of you with all his heart
That someday you'll be entwined
In the sacred altar of love
Remember, not only him you'll marry
But also his God-given duty
Support him, love him with loyalty and sincerity
Full of understanding, integrity and dignity
Life in the ministry is not a bed of roses
The road is bumpy, arduous and difficult
Rely, pin your trust and hope in God
For He is benevolent and full of love
If someday, in different world as you make your ways
And feel the pangs of hardship and loneliness
Call upon His Name, bend your knees
Surely He'll provide the things you need
Many women are bound to marry
But you are pecullar, uniquely
Brave the weather happen what may
Thank him for having a “ part in the ministry. "
Continue to beseech and entreat the Lord above
To bless you both a honest heart
That though temptations abound
With a sweet smile, you will surely surmount.

The rubber roo is a fantastic work of art.
Constructed of rubber, as to never fall apart.
It has a large round head with little arms and legs.
It strongly bares the resemblance of a hard boiled egg.
It’s made to punch and kick around.
The perfect back yard toy to deliver a righteous beat down.
It’s for your everyday frustration, it’s never broke a toe.
Kick it barefoot or with a boot, you can even pick it up and throw.
But leave it parked outside, it has one special part.
The backside where you kick, kind of smells like a bad old fart.
It comes with its own private handler carefully packaged in the box.
Our factory is cleverly hidden, way out in the boondocks.

Mountain soften the gawp of sun
far beyond the boondocks,
where the fog plays in stillness,
‘fore the banties arouse the glade
When life came to Bottom Land
bare feet stomped common paths
Between the tall oak trees
echoes stood for seconds,
as tiny voices cartwheeled
from hanging rocks that bite into the dell
The Good River lend a hand, Big Sandy,
to water the Bottom Land,
three acres that fed nine mouths
and satisfy our bellies
When the snow turn up,
and pile high on the new year,
like cotton on a mule cart,
Pap wore rags to keep his toes;
we count ten in early spring
When God send Roosevelt and the WPA,
Pap wore cow hide boots like men ought to
The log cabin was heaven; we lived like gods
In winter, we listen to the hissing of burning
fir and pinewood, and Pap’s alluring hunting tales
Ma’s fried-green tomatoes and cornmeal pancakes
were more than quails falling ‘fore Mt Horeb,
and Pap was more than Moses,
We loved more than Israel,
far from the isle where milk and honey flow

Some people just don't get it
And forget things way too soon
So I'll explain just one more time
About the hillbilly honeymoon
We don't have shotgun weddings
Not like they used to do
We invite our family not kinfolk
Just like the rest of you
Our families are never feuding
Like the Hatfields and Mcoys
We don't all live in the boondocks
Like the hillbilly name employs
It's a wedding dance not hoedown
And we never dance in a square
We eat food not vittles
And we always plenty to share
We never marry our cousins
At least not where I'm from
'Cept the ones on Jerry Springer
Those folks are just plain dumb
All our women still have their teeth
They don't keep them in a jar
Don't call our houses broken-down shacks
Cause that's just going too far
I've told you about our weddings
And I hope to see you soon
The rest I'll leave to your imagination
About the hillbilly honeymoon

Mary had a little lamb that soon became someone's chops
That's a lie, a mouse never runs up a clock, only in the Boondocks

Little town in the boondocks
Little girl just waiting to grow up
People thought her life was perfect
Thought she was perfect, but she wasn't
She felt like an outcast
with her friends,
felt like an outcast
to the whole wide world,
felt like she'd burst
with all her troubles,
felt like she'd drown in her life
Perfect grades got her freedom
Horrible temper got her grounded
Couldn't keep up with her parents expectations
Perfect music got her first chair
Sharp tongue got her the hallway
Couldn't stop cursing her teachers and life
Perfect actions got her friends
Fights got her in the office with none
Couldn't keep all these friendship rules straight
So she started drowning in her life
Got in trouble everyday
Couldn't help it with all the rules to break
Started skipping classes, cutting school
Her grades went down the drain with her life
Ranaway, came back
Found out that life wasn't for her
Couldn't keep anything straight
Couldn't do anything right
So she drowned in her life
Yeah, she drowned in her life

I went to visit Elroy, Emma, my nephew and niece
In a town where all residents are missing some teeth
The name of the town is Boondocks or Sticks
I finally arrive and am greeted by my nephew and niece, their names are Hominy
and Grits
Boondocks falls in the state of Georgia and Sticks falls in the state of South
Carolina
The residents could not decide which name would be finer
The annual vote always ends in a split
I believe it will always be Boondocks or Sticks
This town has a single chair barbershop
The peppermint pole uses too many kilowatts
Last time it was used
It blew the transformer, the town was left with no power, dazed and confused
There are new rumors going around
A Dollar General is coming to this town
I wonder if I turned on the peppermint pole would the town\'s lights begin to flick
There is no other town like Boondocks or Sticks
