Transparency

Author Note: I wrote this after the Address last night as my take on the transparency of our
government.

Where does the white go
when the snow melts?
It becomes transparent,
for all to witness its passage
from one form
to another?

It will never again have substance
or be recognized as what
was its original state.

Transparency,
doomed to mix with
unsavory elements,
no longer a brilliant white,
rather,
becomes covert.

Covered by dirty slush
to be stomped throughout
the halls of government,
to be spread around
under the guise of openness.

Soon,
will become invisible,
no longer a nuisance,
transparent, to forever
be squelched
by power and corruption
hiding behind closed doors,
where transparency is not allowed,
where truth becomes lies,
where is hidden....
where the white goes
when the snow melts

Premium Member Its the Fourth

It’s the fourth - fireworks; the fizzle of stars.
The colorful display of power of the people —
waving of the red, white and blue; freedom
rings, slowly, building to a crescendo
to include all the melting pot called the USA.

Resilience and fortitude; weathered the wilderness
where an unlearned cabin-patch man snatches
every book his hands can capture, then captures
our hearts, tall, even taller with his top hat —
a silk black band added after his beloved son
Willie dies. Lincoln, a man who united us

in the favor of freedom, freedom that frees the pandemic
of slavery, the dark history of whips and chains. And
furthermore we ask, “Why oh why…”
when headway is made do men continue to suffer
and hang from trees, crosses burned.

And all good men suffer with them, the agony of evil —
it was to be stamped out, and the white hoods snatched
off crazytown. If one truly believes in God, then he loves,
not hates, his fellowman and each wants the best for him —
of education, family, boundless freedom and desires
to hold hands — building a chain, not of rust, but of
trust. And we sing out, “God bless America.”

I visited the WWII museum in New Orleans. A flat map
showed the takeover of the world by forces of evil. Almost
the entire world of East and West lit up — it took my breath
away. What power quenched the burning furnaces, the
torture of peoples? When America stood up, under
the banner of “In God We Trust,” the hellfires, not

easily squelched, the brave, the spirit of the wilderness
gave all, they fought to set the captives free. Men, in general,
are not perfect but the fight for freedom is a worthy cause
and the sanity of a sound mind, a candlelight vigil of veracity
is one to be stoked. Do we continue

to fight each other, dividing, drawing lines, or pull
each other into big sloppy hugs and love’s kisses.
God bless this union called America; God’s mercy
invites us to sing with one voice; freedom’s choice.

It’s the fourth - fireworks; the fizzle of stars.
The colorful display of power of the people —
waving of the red, white and blue; freedom
rings, slowly, building to a crescendo
to include all the melting pot called the USA.

Premium Member Sheer Happiness Aggravates the Naysayers

It is so peaceful today!
SHHHHHHH someone hisses.
You will ruin it.
But it really is a terrific day.
Three people give her a quick glare.
She laughs.
Not caring at all.
Optimism cannot be squelched.
She is in a wonderful mood.
Begins to sing Oh What a Wonderful Morning!
Loudly and proudly.
The naysayers are instantly in a bad mood.
Go home with glaring faces.
Silly co-workers.
She smiles at how well she can aggravate them
With sheer happiness.

Eerie Sight

Coach Alan Brown was incredibly unique
At eighty he had an athlete's physique.
A fullback mocked his years,
Brown hefted him by his ears.
Since then mouthy jocks have squelched every squeak.

Bottems Up

Bottoms Up[

I was looking around for a new winter sport
Something rigorous but not a dangerous sort
A good friend of mine suggested to me
“if you can walk, you can cross country ski”

So I shopped around at a sporting goods store
It was a nice discount I was looking for
Soon I found a pair that didn’t cost a lot
And I got a lesson right on the spot

The very next day; don’t you know?
The ground was covered with eight inches of snow
So I packed my skis into the van
And headed to the golf course, a sensible plan

Others like me had the same thing in mind
So I strapped on my skies and waited in line
The weather was great and the conditions superior
But in no time at all, I was on my posterior

I dusted myself off and started to glide
Just as two experts jostled me on my side
I lost concentration and didn’t see a bump
There I was again, flat on my rump

Never discouraged, I stood tall once more
Starting to feel the perspiration pour
But just as I felt I was starting to get it
Back on my derriere; should I forget it?

Never! I said to myself with resolve
This is a puzzle I can solve
Just then I steered right into a bush
And landed sans dignity right on my tush

Two ladies came over to help me up
I was whining now like an orphaned pup
“I’m sorry ladies to be so troublesome
But would you mind rubbing my aching bum?”

They left in a hurry as you might think
Actually quicker than a wink
I made it home with a sore keister
Hoping I’ll feel better come next Easter

Next day I saw my good friend at work
And squelched the urge to call him a jerk
And while removing our lunches from the office fridge
I explained my plans to take up Bridge

Premium Member Goodbye Mister Chip

The team's fans had lofty expectations.
They were squelched by your miscalculations.
The trades you made provided no improvement.
The team's performance was a bitter disappointment.
Your boys lost some games to mediocre teams.
That caused inability to fulfill some dreams.
A smooth road to travel proved to be rough.
The team's owner said he had seen enough.
You were let go before the end of the season.
Missing the playoffs was the ultimate reason.
Your tenure in Philadelphia is now through.
Wherever you go, may there be better luck for you.

A New World Settler

Goodbye emerald hills, a new world's calling me.
Beckoning, the promise of prosperity.
With my children, I cross the treacherous sea
Worries squelched as my brave eyes seek clarity.
O'er the horizon, my husband waits for me.
We will stake our claim without disparity.
The Lord is my strength, no fear of the malign
My Irish spirit intact, I'll not resign.

Docked at Ellis Island, singing a new song.
I search the skyline, dreaming of my new life.
I'll work fingers to the bone; it won't take long,
before we reap the benefits of our strife.
They say men built this country but they'd be wrong.
For each man, next to him toiled a brave, strong wife.
I am a woman who helped build this great land
with my blood, my tears, and sweat of my two hands.

Fuzzy Socks and Crocs

Fuzzy and hairy that is what he was, a cuddly big bear. She
Undressed shyly before him while he took his own sweet time
Zesting it up with cologne before a mirror, what a nervous boy
Zorro mask in place he naughtily asked," can I use my whip ?"
You can do anything you want but leave my feet alone

So there they were two hotties revving for the big big night
Oh Oh Oh she wailed and moaned, " how I love the big wild horse"
Caressing her like a velveteen he croons into her ear, "Oh dear "
Kiss me, canoodle me but don't look at my feet Tiger, cuz if you do ?
So slowly ever so slowly he peels the blanket off her quivering body

And as he looked at her feet he took in the blue socks and crocs
Nascent desires squelched, she was no longer a sexy wench ,
Darling, what in Gods name made you wear something like that he cried

Cuz I wanted to be hot stuff for you, but my feet are always cold
Roaring with laughter he took off his mask & she noticed his brows
Oh my stars you shaved your brows! "Didn't want to be a
Caveman my dear. She giggled and squeezed him tight. I love it
Sexy Zorro. Two lovers doo whopping it, with hot sexy love...

Sizzling Summer

Sizzling Summer

Heat hotter than breath.
Gasps squelched while sweat tickles skin,
Flop under the fan.

My Hero

My Hero	by Robert
Denton July 2014

Ah, but she is
beyond all others,
a blessed divine
gift brighter than
the purest of gold.
She glows like the
sun streaming
rays upon the earth,
and cutting the
stone cold.
She is but poetic
grace,
loyal in her
movements however
clumsily she floats.
She persists in
giving
and with every fiber
of her being, she
devotes.

Oh how I love her,
my friend, my lover,
my companion, my
wife.
Despite a grim
futurity
she offers comfort
and purpose to my
life.
The pain of
existence from where
I sit,
becomes squelched by
her kind spirit
aglow.
Deeply connected,
though I will admit,
my wife is also my
hero.

The Joy of Nits

Headlouse dance as agile ballerinas across a small childs skull
And believe the truth as im only good at that
I havent seen one for a while

Its hard to confess
That i actually miss
Foriging the tresses of my little sprigs
Salivating
Eyes dancing
Hither and tither
To and fro
As if anyone would
Id always know

Where on earth the little devils would go
I know their lifecycle
Lifespan
And im ever so proud to admit that i can
Spot one
At fifty paces

(The safari Hunt!)

I used to settle down, comb at hand
I knew i was at it when i imagined
A safari hat
I was the hunter
Their stalker
Trapsing through the thick dark forestry of hair
Silent in deep excitement

'THERE! ' Ive got another one

Id chalk up the amounts
leaving bloodied squashed and squelched
Knits pon white tissue
A most satisfactory
Blood count

I was good, i was brilliant
A most efficient predator
of those nasty
Horrid little blood sucking beasts that chose to feast
On my childrens heads
Id gather up the population
Ensuring they were all
DEAD!

Norwester I Seasonal Vicious Squall

It was well past noon when I stepped out on the street
The sun blazed above and the tar squelched beneath my feet
No birds chirped nor eagle soared
As I waited in the heat for a bus to board

The roads were empty and the journey was fast
With another bus behind, doggedly trying to speed past
Vying for passengers though only a few were about
The heat restricted movement –of that there was no doubt!

The sky had darkened when I got off the bus
The wind was cooling and blew in gusts
Gathering scraps of refuse in swirling dusty piles
Scattering them again with the wilfulness of a child’s

The sun was shrouded and dark clouds now ruled
The change was pleasant, the weather had also cooled
I knew a storm was brewing, but not how long I had
To cover the open distance to where we lived with dad

At that point in time there seemed no sense in hurrying
A pleasant walk was favoured to an insane scurrying
I had a mile to cover – home was thus far
A fifteen minute walk or a couple of minutes by car

At the end of the road, I turned right
A canopy of thick foliage shielded the dusky light
Garlanding a square lake with waters, now dark
And two tiny islands amidst, all part of a park

The air, here, was thick with the raucous cawing of crows
Where colonies nested and now lined the branches in rows
In this pristine oasis amid the city’s noxious fumes
Nature reigns unfettered in her many-hued plumes

The Preacher Part 3

“It’s time,” she said in a deep throaty voice,
She picked him up and carried the preacher who had little choice,
He hung over her shoulder as she walked with ease,
Her blistering flesh when she touched him could be smelt on the breeze.

Now and then, she would let out a whimper from the pain,
However, a pain she was all too familiar with, she carried him to her ultimate gain.
She reached the old wooden building and opens the boor at the back,
The building housed the crowd as they parted once again for the man in black.

The people, stared shocked to see that he was alive,
Their mummers were as if it were bees in a beehive.
Then a man shouted, “His supposed to be dead, ho can this be?”
She lashed out slicing his neck, and he dropped like a freshly felled tree.

The crowd stirred into a panic and tried to smash down the door,
But, there was a powerful presence locked them in for the long awaited gore.
When their efforts of escape were fruitless, they turned to face the girl
Who’s flesh bubbled, and the stench caused many to hurl.

She dropped the preached on the elevated stage,
And clawed at her burning dead flesh like an animal enraged.
She shouted angrily in a deep throaty voice, “Who is in charge?”
A man walked toward the front, seven foot tall, muscular and large.

She flew through the air and gave him a talon embrace,
As she stuck a finger nails in his neck and gnawed off his face.
The crowd screamed some came to his aid,
But eight died too in her deadly crusade.

She walked slowly back to the front stage,
“Who is in charge?” she screeched ever more so enraged.
She fell on her back and wriggled, screaming in pain,
Her body split in four forming creatures hideously insane.

The merciless creatures hungry and wild ,
Pared not a soul skinning man woman or child.
They left them skinless but alive, to slowly die a gruesome death,
Then squelched through the blood cover floor toward the preacher who was next.

Premium Member Jungle All the Way

An offering from my slush-pile in lieu
              of anything new

Santa’s sleigh crash landed in the jungle
He got caught in the branches of a tree
He had a wound that could be turning fungal
And sought help from a passing chimpanzee

The chimpanzee was friends with a gorilla
Who said, “You don’t belong up in this tree.”
And Santa said, “Now look, I’m not Godzilla,
So will you or the chimpanzee help me?”

The chimpanzee said, “Ooh-ooh, aah-aah, ooh.”
So Santa bellowed loudly, “Ho Ho Ho!”
The gorilla slapped his hand across his forehead,
“If you’re both talking nonsense I shall go.”

So Santa built a grotto in the jungle
He taught some marmosets to work as elves
A job that Santa hoped they wouldn’t bungle
And soon they would be putting toys on shelves

But then he pulled his sleigh with lions as reindeer
That was an error (soon he’d have the proof)
Although we don’t get snow or freezing rain here
Those lions and the sleigh fell off the roof

When Santa hit the ground his head was foggy
He yelled, “You lions are a bunch of peasants
Each one of you is just a clumsy moggy
So dumb you can’t deliver children’s presents.”

Their Christmas lunch so juicy that it squelched
The lions ate their fill then licked their paws
One lion looked embarrassed when he belched
And then said, “Oops, we’ve eaten Santa Claus!”
