Best Sadsnow Poems
Author Note: I wrote this after the Address last night as my take on the transparency of our
government.
Where does the white go
when the snow melts?
It becomes transparent,
for all to witness its passage
from one form
to another?
It will never again have substance
or be recognized as what
was its original state.
Transparency,
doomed to mix with
unsavory elements,
no longer a brilliant white,
rather,
becomes covert.
Covered by dirty slush
to be stomped throughout
the halls of government,
to be spread around
under the guise of openness.
Soon,
will become invisible,
no longer a nuisance,
transparent, to forever
be squelched
by power and corruption
hiding behind closed doors,
where transparency is not allowed,
where truth becomes lies,
where is hidden....
where the white goes
when the snow melts
(just felt like doing it "blues" style!)
Snowflakes/Snow Snow Snow
falling on my “pane”
first snowflakes of the season. . .
and more on the way
Snowball
a tiny snowball
once it gets started rolling. . .
it’s all-consuming
Jack Frost
near frosty windows
beaming carolers smiling. . .
but they don’t know jack
Snow Angel
lying in cold snow
arms out, moving up and down. . .
signaling angels
For SKAT's Snow themed Contest
We strip ourselves of all
These clothes
And lay them swiftly
On the armchair.
But only they will embrace
All night.
I still don’t understand your voice,
Dashing around the room
As if trapped inside a snow globe.
Your tears fall like snow,
You caress me inside your blizzard
And I’m shaken like the snow globe.
I lay wounding on your
Pile of tears, hoping for tomorrow
When our hands will stop searching
For one another.
The windows are closing up
On your last words,
Leaving yourself on the
Other side of the bed... on the other side of you.
Only our clothes embrace
For the night.

Is there a difference
between the cold and the snow?
The snow is new,
but the cold, it knows.
It's been there forever,
and for so long in my bitter heart.
It's seen nations fall,
and me get torn apart.
The snow is new
each and every year.
It knows nothing of sorrows,
nothing of my fears.
The cold is eternity,
the cold is forever.
The snow will melt away,
but the cold in my heart, never.
