Best Neither Here Nor There Poems

Near Death Experience

Lying silently on my bed, eyes open wide.
Watching as darkness moves in like a heavy fog.
My breathing seems to echo against the cold walls
And my heart beats rapidly as I’m plagued with thought.
Prayer like questions, if I should die before I wake,
I pray the Lord my soul to take, will he take me?
Instantly thoughts go to grandma, surely she’s there,
Surely her open arms will be there to greet me.
Harbouring such thoughts bring to me a peaceful smile.
I start counting all the loved ones I will soon see.
I count them as others count sheep in darkest night
They have become like soft comfort blankets to me
They make my nights less scary, should it be my time.
Soon my weary body gives way to pure darkness
I slip into a place of total nothingness
Time stands still and now I am neither here nor there
I am nowhere, floating helplessly forever
Then far off I see a light shining so brightly
Now I feel once more as my aching body hurts
I moan and roll toward the window lit with sun
Realization sinks in, I’ve made it……one more night.

Eternal Winter

Eternal Winter

As you stand in that lonely field,
snow falling in drifted memories,
chilled winds collecting in the corners of your mind,
footprints leading neither here nor there
in wandering dance steps
to a sorrowed tune

hearing monochrome clouds whisper
words in echoes of torment
that never seem to end,
lingering somewhere in the past,
on this cold December morning
when the day feels as if it is your last.

Know that as you gaze to the heavens,
leaving frozen teardrops scattered
on the stark white landscape,
this warmth you feel wrapping
tenderly around your shoulders,
caressing your heart in springtime promises is me.

Floating on a tiny snowflake
amidst the many crystalline forms,
yet glistening brighter,
finding you, touching you,
loving you, on even the coldest days
of this eternal winter

Happy first day of winter

Stargazing

Day gives way to night
The darkening skies
Come alive

Magic flecks across the dark
Twinkling to their tune
Music unsung

A canvas built on dreams
Vibrating with wishes
Secrets told

Glimpsing into the unknown
Neither here nor there
Just being

Cross Roads

Again it’s another of those episodes
I hate being in the passenger seat
Now we’re back at those cross roads
It’s like we always render on repeat

So where do we now go from here?
Motor stalling, can’t we move forward
It feels like we’re again in reverse gear
You’re struggling and I find it awkward

I know that you always liked to drive
But driving each other round the bend
I ask at what point did we then arrive
Looks like we’re arriving at a dead end

As again it’s another of those episodes
I can’t stand all this pain and heartache
And now we’re back at those cross roads
Let’s us stop now quick slam on the break

About a current relationship/friendship
Being in a neither here nor there situation some way of clearing
My thoughts a bit but also inspiration a long time coming
With this i tried to add the idea of being in a situation

When Our First Kiss Up To The Heavens Soared

When our first kiss up to the heavens soared,
   An ardent passion swirled around the air.
   With no sense of time—neither here, nor there—
   A bond was formed, and faith in love restored.
With the kind permission of the good Lord,
   Our lips softly met with the upmost care.
   I gently ran my fingers through your hair
   To ensure you felt treasured and adored.
As we held each other in our embrace,
   Our frames began to feel dizzy and weak—
   We felt the work of a higher power.
Once we separated, I touched your face,
   Running my hand down the side of your cheek—
   Your warm skin felt tender as a flower.
         Making sadness cower,
Our eternal love then began showing—
And both of our faces kept on glowing.
         We parted, both knowing
The night can be cold in so many ways—
But the warmth of our kiss lasted for days.

The Life of the Mind is extolled by Professors
   Though when they think, they just guess or
      perhaps idly chatter

There are some who won't use their brawn
   And 'brainiacs' who won't mow the lawn

Others say 'they'll work with their Hands'
   as if hands are not directed by the Mind of Man

All this, so far's neither here nor there
   Here's what I assure you
   Presuming you care
      Reality is WHAT you perceive it to be
      Perception's HOW you see it, subjectively

               Life's In the Mind
               'Tis the Mind makes it live
                 That is the Truth

SILENT WITNESS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
the sun, a molten coin, descends,
and he, a shadow lengthening,
holds his breath.
he feels the earth turn,
a slow, relentless dance,
and wonders of his place within the spin.
the sky bleeds crimson, then bruised purple,
and he, suspended between light and dark,
is neither here nor there,
but simply is,
a silent witness
to the fading day.
Ten Things I Like About Her---
Ten Things I Like About Her ...
# 10 - Now number ten is neither here nor there
It can be concluded that number ten, an illusion
 Eluded to confusion, a pigeon to decision
A scalpel to precision, separate from any reason
 Affected only if to reason
 As if so, silent- a wait
 So alone in a line
 Standing broken in time
 Almost a ticking rewind
 Like darkness closing in or
 Taking apart together
 Was only to- get –her
 As so the silence of wait
 A mere illusion, to only mirror the confusion
 Left standing but ones conclusion
 Affected by reason- So the sum of it all
 Was less all of its sum
 A Vision Quest
 So twisted these nerves in my spine
 But so focused was her in my mind
 Left standing - I can’t miss, cuz number ten says –
   " I liked the way she KISSED"
The First Argument
With the onset of earth
man became birthed
perplexed, he pondered his purpose
swamped with wildlife
fish and birds rife
am I meant to run a circus?
I'll need entertainers
and animal trainers
a tent constructed of kelp
moreover, an audience
to add due ambiance
where to start?  "Oh, heaven help!!"
"Howdy there
was that a prayer?
Please call me Master or my pet name King
May I call you Adam
short for Macadam
the nickname has a rather cute ring."
"Master, is my purpose
to start a circus?"
"Of sorts but not quite, progenitor ace
I'll gift you a wife
for furtherance of life
but pray don't fall foul of my grace?"
"Nice round to my buns
but I'm still half-done
my titties are dry and flat as a deck
no ring in my bell
nuts without shell.
Will my partner be built to full spec?"
Adam and Eve
were both naive
lacking in sex education
their juicy parts hidden
and some fruit forbidden
their order was tall:  create a world nation
Eve, foolish girl
gave it a whirl
succumbed to the charm of a snake
Adam lost flavor
when he sought favor
she begged off;  invented the headache
Adam had to release
his lust appease
sans sex dolls and movies tinged blue
a hard task at hand
he took a firm stand
the first argument ever ensued:
"Your sordid affair's
neither here nor there
admittedly there's a hole in my pride
at being deceived
but now I'm aggrieved
my own conjugal rights are denied."
The Flight of Evil Thoughts
Twas’ a war full of foul language,
Whether it be said aloud or kept hidden in the minds,
In the minds of politicians, soldiers, and citizens.
The language,
Is directed towards the flight of democracy,
And the descent of communism,
Now we may blindlessly go along with the current trajectory,
But today I do not conform,
For today I lift my voice aloud,
In the pursuit to end the needless bloodshed.
To let the President execute,
His own agenda,
Is like letting a man with a checkers background,
Dictate the strategies of a chess match.
As a soldier I leave my loved ones.
I am forced to fight people who have never harmed me.
I don’t wish to,
I don’t ask to,
I am forced to by those who are higher above.
Ignorance has no place neither here nor there,
For that is a statement all men,
Whether they speak foul or nah can agree upon.
How many
lives need be forgotten before the toll to pay is too high?
How much
destruction must ensue in Vietnam before the ignorance may be revealed?
The endless bombardment
of artillery must flutter through our nightmares before we realize.
We stand united in the thought,
That sending men,
Sending them to spread our ideals,
Will make others “better”,
But we fail to acknowledge the inhumanity of the actions.
Man may never remove itself from the cycle of destruction,
But there is still hope,
For the morality of the silent,
Whether they be the majority or nay,
Will ALWAYS overcome the austerity of the situation.
May we fly above the cruelty of mankind,
And into the nest of peace and unity,
And Fly away from the Evils of the Vietnam War.
Allusion
Phantom reflection
a flickering image of
intangible self
Neither here nor there
an undetected presence
dwelling in shadows
Neither in nor out
of this worldly existence
a fleeting remnant
An apparition
in a deepening twilight
without remembrance
Ode To a Dump
They said “La Coquille is beautiful” they led me on, they lied,
It's nothing but a one horse town and now the horse has died.
It sits astride a major road, it's neither here nor there
Amazing if you're passing through, but visit if you dare
There's absolutely nothing there for you to do or see
And I know of a thousand places I would rather be
It's time to go, we're moving on, we've almost served our time
But really for the life of me, I can't recall the crime
So fare thee well, you cockle shell, a memory soon to be
And Bon Courage and Best of luck to those replacing me!
Lost Souls
Where are you?
My search takes me everywhere
I find nothing
Moving through the maze of life
Hope guides me
But grows weak with time
Who are you?
Someone from the past
Or the future
The hardest question to answer
I wait for the answer
But where will it come from
Two souls moving through existence
Are you searching as well
You ask where am I?
I’m neither here nor there
Lost in thought
But I wait eyes, heart and mind open
Will you arrive
Or will we forever be lost
Who am I?
I often ask myself the same question
The answer also complicated
Yet I’m simple
A person of few needs
You are one of those
Looking for direction from you
Where are you?
Another one of my first attempts at poetry. I sent this to myself on June 4 2012, so it was written around that time. It was another attempt to leave the sonnet and venture into free verse. I didn't want to be limited by fxed form, but have since learned how much I actually enjoy fixed forms of poetry. The villanelle, Qautern, Quatrain, now the Terzanelle, and of course my original, the Shakespearean Sonnet, without the iambic redundancies of course, or should I say the iambic pentameter. I had read  Lucilla Carrillo's poem Where are you, and reminded me of these words, although I think the two themes are different.
The End of the War
There are people in the street
One single voice can be heard
All eyes are wide but they don't see
Revolution does not mean
The end of the war
The end of the war
Kings of the world 'round these parts
grab all the money and run
soon thereafter times get hard
they're on to us with loan-sharks
Take all the money and run,
They don't stand for what they've done
In another world, th`smell of your hair,
th`touch of your skin is neither here nor there
where am I to begin, for whom am I to care?
It came to me in a dream
and I believe ev'ry word
No common ground in between
and only the dead have heard
The end of the war
The end of the war
Revolution means nothing
and only the dead have seen
The end of the war
The end of the war
The. . . . .  end. . . of. . . . the. .  war.
________________
This was actually a fast write,  I'm very happy to get this one done. It'll be a mad blast to put on the stage. It sounds like an anti war song but it isn't, it just makes a relevant observation and asserts it's conviction that life is suffering.
Fly Away
Fly Away
I feel myself gliding among the clouds, which belong to the angels in heaven.
I know that this feeling is just a dream, a dream that I pray last all night and into the day.
How nice is it to fly with the creatures of the sky, this is where I belong where only the imaginary images shall hide.
It is so peaceful here; this must be the remnant of heavenly bliss. There is no stress or depression just a warm kiss, just a loving kiss from the wind to the side of my face.
I'm now in a place where the sun shines so bright, I can fly next to my love ones who have long before me learned to fly.
My kids would be here riding the waves of eternity. No stress or pain, a place where all voices will speak, and all mental capabilities will be as they should be; no more tears from a father eyes, things here will be as they should be. This here is a place where we all shall be set free.
I cherish this moment, this moment I hope will last forever and the dreams of reality and the gifts of memories last laugh. The place that only exist in the depths of our imagination; this is a place we call life true salvation, the spirits of its joy is all but taken.
 A place that is neither here nor there, but in our heart, this place is everywhere. This is a place that seems to always make us cry, because it is the unknown. There is a question we ask like will we meet there again? But only the blessed ones know the answer to this question. So until I take that last drive, I will be here in this bed that we call life, preparing my wings and their pretty little wings to take our first flight.
