Best Lip Poems
your kiss the silence of my words
It was with immense fortitude that he endured the pain.
His back was arched and head rose as he strode down the thoroughfare.
No one need know what lurked behind his eyes.
Although in all honesty he wanted someone to know what lay behind his eyes.
He composed his mind determined to ride this one out,
“Ok…I’m fine…I’m fine…there’s nothing wrong” he kept saying as if it were a mantra.
A few minutes passed. Finally, the steely gaze was drawn across his face.
His lip no longer quivered.
His heart no longer tightened.
For now, he was a detached dispassionate walking skeleton, nothing to call human here!
Even the sight of a mangled kitten wouldn’t render a response.
My manners are now controlling my passion; they are forever in my debt.
Like Wellington, I’m going to have to grin and bear it!
Throw my deepest love into a raging, scorching inferno, as it will only get in the way of my duty!
I shall never succumb to societies miss giving’s. Never shall I spew forth my sensibilities to the stranger in the street. My convictions are too honest to cheapen that.
A friend, however, has the misfortune or privilege to walk among my thoughts.
I know that we will walk hand in hand into Daedalus’ Labyrinth, a Minotaur at every corner. Never knowing if we shall return. Nonetheless we do it together.
Judgement is never passed. A grimace expression will never rise from your face.
Only in your presence can I remove the mask.
Only in your presence can I let my lip tremble.
Only in your presence can I let my heart feel the despair.
…
Be that as it may, once I leave the comforts of your abode I shall once again display the stiff upper lip.

most poets
neither am nor want to be
just stuck
halfway to an imagined hell
of homage to self
and lip service to the creator
Dress up now boy and girl, It’s time for bonfire joy
Bring your purse bring smile line up now for fun
Many costumes many shades walking in the haze
Sounds of drumming and of horn fletching reborn.
Kids wander in the dark, go from house to house
And the adults partying the night away somewhere
A girl extended her hand; we took a walk on the lake
Saw an old house not lived in for many years.
We had it all the house, nothing could stop us now
A whisper went around a small town, tummy round
The girl searched for who gifted her with a child.
As we were all in masks and outrageous costumes
I could detect her because of a mole on upper lip,
Love story goes on, my son to step into my shoes.

The Tonight show is once more a big hit
Since Johnny and Jay left, we worried quite a bit
But Jimmy came in time
With his lip-syncs sublime
As they prance around, the hilarity won't quit

My Mother in law insists she's always right
I would disagree.... but I won't cause a fight!

My son’s bird loves to squeak and squawk
As through puckered lips, though he’s got none.
I think he likes to hear himself talk,
But his carrying on is not much fun.
I whistle back, though a little flat
Hinting, “Don’t give me none of your lip.”
He replies, with an ear piercing cry
Of, “Chip-chip-chirp, cheep-cheep-chirrip!”

It's better that you bite your lip,
Than to speak with words that slander.
They could defame someones good name,
So, choose all your words with candour.
Where loose tongues quickly let words slip,
Let time itself give you more scouth.
Such prudence will not go amiss,
For a fly does not enter a closed mouth.
Scouth. Opportunity.

They seem to have forgotten common courtesy,
'Have A Nice Day!' rings so hollow, such a shame;
they're so mired in mediocrity
and no one ever, ever takes the blame.
Overweight and under-nourished,
over-sexed and under-intellectual,
they preen and pose their way
to self-importance, perpetually ineffectual.
They clutch desperately on to their perceptions,
their DVD's and plasma TV screens;
they're rushing blindly to the brink of self-destruction,
never caring for a moment what life means,
so I'll have a cup of tea and read Jane Austen,
self-righteous, showing smug English reserve,
and laugh at all their cheesy indiscretions
while I cheer their unimaginable nerve!

Your love is the end
Because you make my world stop
Only we exist
You become my world
But then I lose my old one
It fades from my thoughts
Concepts, worries, friends
Unforgiving and barren
A nuclear winter
Winter can’t touch me
I have the warmth of your heart
Keeping me alive
You become my all
In our own little bunker
Watching the world burn
"Button your lip!" my mother used to say
I can hear her voice to this very day
Back then we were seen and not heard
You'd better not say even one more word
And if the message was still not clear
Shed reinforce with a swat to the rear
"Button you lip", my dear dad never said
He'd just stammer and his face would turn red
I'm told I was always a "mouthy" girl
Perhaps that's why I give poetry a whirl.....
Keep a stiff upper lip, it isn't that bad
Things will surely get better
Life is a series of these ups and downs
Surely isn't always fair weather
Unpredictable is a word that's often used
When referring to things in general
For some strange reason as we all get older
Life gets somewhat less pleasurable
Can't do the things we once did with ease
Restricted by physical abilities
At one time things were second nature to us
They now restrict our activities
But all things considered I'm doing quite well
For a man of my advancing years
Can't do ALL the thing I once used to do
Also lost some brain matter I fear

Now we have been released from the EU, and its cheap cost of livingWe are now going British with prices that are more than unforgiving
lips steaming, hot brands my sultry skin - searing me forever sizzled
