Premium Member Bridging the Gap

My sincere thanks to Teppo Gren for bridging the gap and taking time out of his hectic schedule to visit me on his recent visit to Australia from Europe.

Teppo was one of the very first to welcome me on my debut poem on Poetry Soup, and from thereon in continued to support me with his excellent comments and feedback.

I really appreciated your encouragement and taking the trouble to get in touch and visit us in Sydney. I look forward to meeting up again on your next trip.

Miles of endless sands and seas
In today’s times can be travelled with ease
Bridging the gap between family and friends
In a life composed of so many odds and ends
Extend the hand of friendship to proceed
Beautiful friendships are what we need

Premium Member Kiss the Rain

Like any family, mine’s the same, they leave Mama with the dirty Chores.
You’d think with Trolls, and Dragons, and such… There’d be magic galore!
But I concede defeat at Pooper Scooping Time, my sons taught everyone well.
You’d think just once, they wouldn’t run away, with such a humongous bombshell.

The Witch next door is out of town; she usually uses it to fertilize her yard.
Her magic does it in a minute flat, but she’s not here, as my yard becomes marred.
She flew on vacation with the first snowfall; in spring she’ll help my backyard.
In the meantime it’s just little old me… It’s like cleaning out a yucky stockyard.

So I gave a shovel to a grouchy old Dragon, since he’s so big and does so much.
But I came back fricasseed and charbroiled, my shovel totally melted, as such.
I put on my fire retardant suit, and I gave him a special spot where he can unload.
Apparently he didn’t like that either, as I dug out from under a humongous load.

Finally, raking it all up, I ask the dragon, to make cinders of the yucky stuff.
Instead he laughed as he huffed and puffed, blowing smoke at me, in a huff.
I smelled kinda bad as I went to the house, getting a cart to fill to the brim.
I’ll admit, getting mad at a dragon was never a good idea, to originally begin.

But I was pissed, as it looked like rain, and my mind was beginning to spin.
I filled the cart to overflowing, then tied it to the sleeping dragon’s… butt end.
When he woke up, he flew half way up to the moon, spreading it on the wind.
Unfortunately it was me, my yard, and my house, that finally got it again.

Who knows where that darned old cart now lies, as he came flying back alone.
I had learned my lesson that it would never be wise to lose my temper again.
So as the rain began to wash my folly away, I looked up and kissed the rain.
Sometimes it’s prudent, to just relax, and get in touch with the elements again.

Do You Ever Wonder

Do you ever wonder
Why some times relationships go asunder?
What were the short comings and/or the blunder?
What caused that awesome storm to lose its thunder?
Do you ever wonder?

Did you ever dream
A dream so big, It became a theme?
A dream so rich, it reigned supreme?
A dream so proud, it bolstered your self-esteem?
Did you ever dream?

Do you ever think
In the chain of your life, what is the missing link?
How quickly that life can change in just an eyes blink?
That something big and wonderful was on the brink?
Do you ever think?

Did you ever share?
Expressed the hopes and fears you hide in there.
Speak of your imperfections and flaws, did you dare?
Feel so confused, that you could only find the answers in prayer.
Did you ever really share?

Did you ever win?
Such as the marathon from fat to thin.
Or the sport of discovering who you really are within.
The war on quitting bad habits, you begin.
Tell me, did you ever win?

Did you ever tell?
Tell that special someone, you were proud when they would excel.
Tell that you loved them no matter what, even if they fell.
That what’s important is inside, that the outside is just a shell.
Did you ever tell?

Do you ever speak?
Express the dreams and wishes that you seek.
Tell someone you thought they were special and unique.
That you were awed by their mystique.
Well, Did you ever speak?

Did you ever explore?
Move out of your comfort zone and tread on a distant shore.
Look for answers not from others, but deep within your core.
To realize that beyond what you can see, you know there is more.
I wonder, did you ever explore?

Did you ever partake?
Really experience life and not just fake.
Get in touch with and allow all your senses to wake.
To permit any and all emotions, to rumble and quake.
I ask you, did you ever partake?

Did you ever shine?
Do you share a memory with others that hinges on divine?
Can you still feel the passion that a special friendship can define?
I seek this for my future; I will plan and create my own design.
Here is my question, did you ever shine?

November Blues

SONNET FOR A FRIENDLY TAX MAN

Once more the seasons turn to time for change
The sun adjusts to lower its trajectory
The fates have cause once more to disarrange
Emotions and confer an elan-ectomy

As many have observed two things are certain
Although we may resist a near demise
One sure contingency will raise a curtain
On that other threat to slowly jeopardise

With smile like crocodile and salutation
He writes ‘It’s been so long! Please get in touch’
Our ‘friend’ would really welcome our collation
Of generous donations to his clutch

Will Hell be desolate with fire that burns
Or eternity of endless tax returns

Chessboard

grief joy grief joy
black white squares of life
who is the chess player

Premium Member I'M Going Away

I’m going away for a while
Life seems to have stolen my smile

Some of you I will miss so much
Maybe later we’ll get in touch

In Cyprus my daughter I'll see
T'will bring joy to sorry old me

I won’t have much time to be here
But some of you I’ll still hold dear

I seem to have lost some desire
Due to the mishap with the “fire”

Not so proud of what I have done
So I’ll escape to have some fun

My heart is made of marshmallow
Bruises by gal or by fellow

Don’t worry, it’s just for a time
Maybe later I’ll try to rhyme

But for now, it is surely goodbye
Hope to see you all by and by.

Premium Member The Prom Corsage

I hadn’t seen her in over twenty years,
but I knew her face on sight;
I should have asked her to the senior prom -
instead, we both stayed home that night.

High school friends who never went on a date
because I was too afraid to ask her out;
In retrospect, the signs were there,
but I harbored a young man’s doubt.

Now, with two decades left behind us,
in a foreign land far away,
I stumbled upon my old high school crush
not knowing just what to say.

She was quite surprised to see me -
coincidences had put us there.
She was a successful corporate lawyer;
I was travelling without a care.

We shared pictures of our children;
Told snippets about our life;
Her husband was back in America;
I had just divorced my wife.

The bartender made his last call;
Nostalgic smiles were on our face;
We kissed and hugged goodbye again
as I quickly got out of that place.

I was glad to have gotten to see her,
though it made me feel inept again;
I wondered if we would have made good lovers
or if it were best kept just as friends.

She was in my thoughts as I wandered
around Europe with my back pack;
I promised that I would look her up again
in three months when I got back.

I read about her on the Internet
and cried when I saw the story;
She had died in an auto accident -
leaving behind her girl and boy.

It happened one week after
our chance meeting in that bar;
They said an old high school year book
was found with her in the car.

Her letter was in the pile of mail
waiting for me when I got home;
She wrote she was glad to see me -
on that trip she felt so alone.

She admitted to having a crush on me
back in our high school days;
She kept waiting for me to ask her out
until we went our separate ways.

She thanked me for keeping it casual
in the bar that fateful night;
She probably would have gone back to my room
and she knew that wouldn’t be right.

She asked me to remember her
but not to try to get in touch;
She’d rather me stay a memory
than get to know me a little too much.

I visited her in the graveyard
one day in the early spring,
and left a prom corsage there
as my final offering.

Nature's artwork painted with authentic brushes
the palette hanging on a nail at the door
The painted areas melt completely with the paper,
and become one with it
Purple: a color of prestige, nobility and majesty
A little simplified you can say
By opening yourself for the image
you get an opportunity to get in touch
with a different dimension

... and Sunset

Everything from heaven and paradise to love, sunset and ocean dunes
The hour from day to night creates a very special atmosphere
Some find it melancholy at the fall of the sun
The beautiful light fades away the day, a bitter taste
Over a carafe of sangria, enjoy the silence
The longing for love, with eyes closed everything is easy
Tomorrow, tomorrow a whole new day
Beautiful is God's heaven, a gleaming link which is held by angels

Misguided Youth

I've been in college for four years and i promise I aint learned s***
Thank god i'm on scholarship and I didn't have to pay for this s***
They haven't taught me anything about this machine we live in
If you want to teach me something, teach me why society tries to destroy black men
Teach me how to start my own and don't groom me to work for someone else
Teach me how to be rich inside and out so I can respectfully attain true wealth
Teach me to operate from the heart and not just from the mind
Teach me that I can do anything and not just chase a ball or spit a rhyme
Teach me how the universe works mentally and how I should be aware of my thoughts
Teach me the truth about this country and why these wars are really being fought
Teach me things about myself, like my pineal gland
I could care less about the subatomic particles of a grain of sand
Teach me how religion is used as a means of control
Teach how to live without religion and how get in touch with my soul
Teach me about the chemicals that go in my water and my food
Just show me how society should truly be viewed
Teach me all the things that you should really be teaching the youth
All i'm asking is for you to teach me the F****** TRUTH!
