Every planet in our solar system
Rotates in an anticlockwise direction
Except Venus which insists on being different
Always one has to be the exception

About 75 acres of pizzas are downed
In America every single day
Probably chow down about an acre myself
So I do my share wouldn't you say

Our eyes are always the same size from birth
However noses and ears get bigger
Imagine if our footsies also kept growing
Hard to do the Charleston I'd figure

The disgusting cockroach is the fastest animal
It covers about a meter a second
That's faster than me when I need to go badly
Running and holding my back end

They say only rabbits and parrots can see
Behind without turning their heads
But mothers also seem to have that ability
Try stealing some cookies before bed

A goldfish's memory is about 3 seconds
The same as me on a good day
That's excellent as far as most seniors go
Wish it was longer but what the hey

Iguanas can stay under water 28 minutes
Me too, but I'd miss all my friends
Sure hope they'd visit me one last time
Before off to the furnace I descend

All bubble gum contains a bit of rubber
For that bouncy bally effect
Makes you able to leap over tall buildings
But watch you don't break your neck

Premium Member Panagiotas Poor Footsies

Pangie was struggling in the heat
Said this heat wave sure has me beat
This old hot sun
Is no damn fun
Its swelling my poor little feet.

Written on 18th August 2020.

Dedicated to Panagiota who is struggling in the Californian heat wave.
On a serious note I hope things cool down for her.
She gave kind permission to post it.

     A San Francisco Haiku Quartet

           Oh San Francisco
           Beat poets Ferlinghetti
           North Beach was our city

           Hushed conversations
           Rich coffees and biscotti
           Smothered in rich fog

           Our French cigarettes
           Then under table footsies
           Moonlit hills our home

           Cable cars singing
           Golden Gate from our window
           Heaven and stars..ours

Food, food, glorious food
Eating is such a wonderful thing
No matter what time of day it is
Wolfing down makes my dear heart sing

Why I get out of bed each day
The smell of bacon frying away
Follow my proboscis to the kitchen
Where Cathie's prepares brekkie each day

It's that oh so heavenly smell
Footsies don't even touch the floor
Gliding down the stairs like a nymph
So enthralled like many mornings before

I sit down and dear dear Cathie
Serves me brekkie that's fit for a king
Burst out with, “What a Beautiful Morning”
As we both raise our voices and sing

A delightful scene, albeit unusual
It's how we Ellisons start off the morn
Singing and dancing and kissing and stuff
Makes me so overjoyed to be born

Food, food, glorious food
Eating is such a wonderful thing
No matter what time of day it is
Wolfing down makes my dear heart sing

Hand In the Cookie Jar

Hand In The Cookie Jar

The word is out, the waiting suspense is over...
Over here in this small young democratic country...

For quite some time, in this Bolehland of endless possibilities...
There has been fascinating accounts of financial irregularities...

Every man in the street, he knows for a fact...
When one is a public official for the government...

One needs to uphold the integrity of being in public service...
In your personal bank accounts, no mysterious monetary incentives...

The highest ranking public official in Bolehland...
Religiously taking the holy ground, playing verbal footsies all round....

Pleading innocence and ignorance, with suspicious money in his bank accounts...
As one nation, all the more bemused as implausible explanations spew forth...

Now the word is out, despite painstaking months of evidence gathering...
A Voluminous report of convulated money trails and entangled cash flows...

A single all important pawn has said, Insufficent Evidence, No further action.....
A shocking proclamation of his master's innocence, despite the public opinion..

Whither goes Malaysia, now that a perceived wrong is verbally white washed...
When a grievious misdeed, is now merely a twisted piece of re engineered logic....

Spin masters, blinded aides and mercenary political stooges...
As one they cried in unison, It is not what it seems, the boss is clean...

While the man in the street, he shakes his head and mutters incredulously...
The many twists and turns, of mysterious donors and a deceased king...

How is it things in this Bolehland have come this far...
Was it not a simple case of being caught with a hand in the cookie jar?

a flick of the hair head tilt-
a little coquetish smile a teasing question
all part of the flirting game

tickling winking flattery giggling

speaking those sweet nothings
     chatting up
        flattering comments
            long silly conversations
flirting can be just for fun or be more

friends co-workers total strangers

people flirt

its all in the body language the vocal tone
   volume
       intonation
            feigned interest

the flirter sends out signals a touch a look
perhaps just playful or may be dangerous

a flick of the hair head tilt-
a little coquettish smile a teasing question
all part of the teasing game

can be flattering can be uncomfortable
or can be harmless fun or have more intent

blowing a kiss footsies under the table
raise an eyebrow a little hand touch perhaps
send a secret note
     write a love poem
        stage an encounter
flirters can be devious and relentless

the batting of the eyelashes old tactic
but it still works
     next thing you know your
               exchanging personal numbers

Playing footsies, smiling in bed
Watching the late night news
What happens- enough said
Well, Surprise! Surprise! They both snooze

Together eighty years
Both outlived most their peers
Some happy, some sad; tears

No birds and bees
Playing footsies

Premium Member Cookies and Cream

I love you better
than Cookies and Cream,
my lifelong favorite

more than seas playing footsies
with shore clams
in cuddly tropical sands

The warmth of enticing Caribbean
soothing waters

(billowy-sails...fields of overhead
stars...night's complicit fireflies
helping chart to a romantic cove
a beat-up heart seeking a paradise-like
new-start)

(a desire for tasteful, novel, cheerful effervescent
brew, a need to leave on the old dock past that settled for
impure bitters)

( navigate clear of thought defacing
apps like Facebook's and Twitter's

that falsely entice, tempt
a free-thinking, sacred spirit, to
express living solely on a mindless
uncaring device – not a true life, just a
wax slice

not abiding complete, but in fact,
manipulated into electronic defeat....)

Petals need firm attachment if to be
enticing blushing roses~ blooms for crinkly smiles,
puckering lips and playful toes-es –

               Valentines of
perfumed hearts made of hand-laid,
lacy type paper, crafted by flirty eyes
in agreement with pheromone receptive
noses

A softly played harp...a bower of flowers...
Back lathering showers shared – which
requires a minimum of two daring
hearts...wantonly, lovingly paired –

Love is always trumpeted, openly, fondly, vociferously
musically declared....

Premium Member Back To the Sillies

So here I go, back to the sillies
Jumping in with both my footsies
Clear the decks, full steam ahead
Hope I don't hurt my tootsies!

The world's my oyster as they say
I don't like that incantation
Think I'll use another term
Like the world is my crustacean!

I'm just as happy as a pig in poop
Have you never heard that before?
It's really an absolute favourite of mine
Going to use it a whole lot more!

Never know what's coming out
I just hope and pray that it's clean
Don't wanna get kicked off the lovely site
For something that's really obscene!

Which came first, the chicken or egg?
Bet you don't even have a clue
So you're not the brightest bulb in the pack
Did you ever get past grade two?

Okay! Enough of this silly nonsense
I must go lie down for a while
My oversized brain is hurting real bad
Need to get back my radiant smile!

Premium Member A Real Charmer

I'm haunted by this image of someone
With a smile that lights up the room
Colourful teeth that are oh so enticing
Often seen riding a broom

Legs with knees meet in the middle
Big footsies the size of canoes
Hair like a mass of squirmy worms
Breath smelling a lot like pooh

Gangly arms hanging down to her knees
Eyes that look in a different directions
Gnarly fingers so bent and boney
Quite a sight sure gets your attention

Forgive me for running off at the mouth
T'was an alarming vision I saw
A nightmare to end all nightmares for sure
A vision of my dear mother-in-law!

Commuter's Joe

her hair
wisps of copper filament
like sea fans on deep pillows
spread out above duvet
broken silhouette
from bed warmth venting
reluctantly, with lidded eyes
fighting blue-black cold as
I arise and shake off
clinging hands of sleep
clumsily I make water
playing footsies with the cat
glances in a spotted looking glass
stumble on a toe
hygiene habit whoop-de-doo
another day in the role of man
step right up
step it up
daily three ring has begun
music only sotto once
as I glance deep in my eye
wondering if my heart's gone dumb
(was it truly once fierce & free?)
unsure if my soul was meant to fly
but asking meaning now
is meaningless
furrows plowed and dimming pass
commuter's music fills the air
mumbling desperate on the pike
shuffle up, hook it up,
file out to the door
no time
no time for
seesaw for a mood
sparrows for a mind
vegetably, I regret nothing

Premium Member If It's Just Lust

if it's just lust

if it's just lust
no one goes bust
...then throwaway the rose
and prose
the idle stalk
and blank talk
playing footsies
and tootsies
shaken
and baking
in the oven
of shadow loving ...
find your knees
to please

if it's just lust
no one goes bust
give me your tulips
stop the peeping Judas
and let be mouth sweet
basking in your teeth
to play the piano keys
making our hearts freeze

if it's just lust
no one goes bust
give me your second tulips
of garden petals drops
to the rising sun
and the land of fun
to the sandy beach
where big waves screech
a sprint to the finish
holding on with a grimace

if it's just lust
no one goes bust
give me your third tulips
as the dark side bends and dips
in the face of virgin wool
as hearts and tears pool
as the piano man
comes pitching his grand

if it's just lust
no one goes bust
the night is on fire
tulips fulfilling every desire
the candle is lit
rising, rising every bit
as the tulips sit in her quivering vase
a cherub afterglow on their faces

If You Go Down To the Streets

if you go down to the streets today
beware of the frozen ground
if you go down to the streets today
you're sure to go slippin' around

for all the snow so pretty last night
has gathered there and turned into
ice
Today's the day you need claws on
your footsies.

winter time is such lovely fun
with snowflakes dancing in the light
watch them, catch them
challenge friends in snowball fight
you can sleigh, you can ski, print
angels in snow
"Till the cold and the wind come like
thieves in the night
and a fire and your bed fill your heart
with delight

it's cold down there in the streets
today
it's better to stay at home
it's vile down there in the streets
today
It's safer to stay at home.

the icy winds got spiteful alone
and turned pavements to soapy
stone
and getting around is sure to be no
picnic
