an impression of the world
stands before me
Left is right, and right is wrong,
and the mirror reflects a melancholy song.
i the mirror
not
the babbling brook,
or
the rippled river
whose images tell harmless lies.
i
the mirror,
who was once held in the
weak, shivering, hands of a life nearing its end
now lay
on broken, crushed bones, crumbs
and i
one thousand shards
the cracks
the jaded moments of my life.
i
an unintended semblance in the raging waters
crashing against the killing rocks of the rushing falls.
never utter the curse
"it can't get any worse"
the serpent swallows the swollen cow,
swallowed - the farmer's wife,
swallowed - her son,
swallowed - the thorny toad,
the black widow spider devours them all!
i the empty frame
the bits and bites of carpenter ants.
my world
a perverse facade
of
what should of been
of
what
is
of
what
was
or of
what? WHAT?
less?
i guess.
NEVER utter the curse
"it can't get any worse"
whose voice
will bring me peace,
whose rapier
will deliver me,
who will
burn my body whole
or
dig me a deep hole
or
throw me void of soul
into
the waters of the screaming ocean
who herself dies a slow painful death.

On Making a Difference
It does not matter how much money I have.
Nor how many medals or trophies I own.
Making a difference in the lives of others is
the way to live, I was shown.
Living as if I were the Hope Diamond under
glass, is no way for me to live, alas!
No need for hundreds to stare at me in stupefied awe!
Getting and not giving is the biggest booby prize of all.
Counting my medals and jewelsas if I were Queen of
the May,
Tells the biggest story of all...a big ego at play.
Winner take all is the opposite of giving.
Demanding people kiss our feet, is the saddest and
emptiest way of living.

chances less than one in a centillion
we became human not penicillin
born to planet spiraling around sun
swift journey through life only just begun
not capable of fending for ourselves
relying on what parenting compels
'til point of making our own decisions
despite doubt, false starts and some derision
whether worker, lawyer, doctor or star
we struggle to be sure of who we are
we fabricate our own evolution
hopefully making some contribution
through trials, tribulation, perversity
we dance our own dance with eternity
Society has been infested and inflicted
With wrong doings, crimes, immorality, horror, terror
Causing deprivation, sadness, unrest;
Let’s share our joyous, happy moments
With the sad, the deprived and the distressed ones
To make their lives easy with comforts.
Funny how faith found me, when you said you'd send for me
Abundance, I heard, abound in the United States of America
Travel was in my blood; warmed my heart that you filed for me
Humbly I waited my Quota at the U.S. Embassy in Belize, British Honduras
Eagerly you awaited my arrival
Reaching you, my life began anew with stern and lenient caring
Safe and secured, I was proud owner of a Green card.
Dad, I remembered you renovating our home before the hurricane season
America saw you laboring as Construction worker and Carpenter
Yes, you worked, womanized, and drank to life.

My Contribution
My contribution might not be very much
Has become so little and now seems such
But I am sure God will always understand
Knew amount and by Him, it was planned.
In my budget was aware of what was there
And with me others God refuses to compare
Knew what I had made was on my very own
Income is fixed after being old and grown.
Some called way of life to mouth from hand
And God from you does not ever demand
Much more then you could be able to give
Although, at times, off of His love will live.
No matter what total, exact amount may be
Whatever we do be sure to do it religiously
Believe in God and firmly place your trust
Helping all others be sure to and we must.

A carcass lies upon the ground
On close inspection life is found
From death to life new cells conform
A single lost life, provides a feast
To feed the stong and very least
Nature is nourished no reason to mourn
Thought I was writing a Terzanelle on hope and ended up with a Tail Rhyme instead.
Being it is my only tail Rhyme I guess it is my favorite.
Favorite Tail Rhyme Contest
Here is my little cheating song,
Contribute to this gross contest and play along,
I was cheated on many years ago,
It hurt like hell this you should know,
Anyways she came back home to me,
She used a condom to you see,
But condoms do not always work,
So I got something from the jerk.
It cleared up with some pills and surgery,
But the heart was filled with pain and misery,
So go ahead write your poems and make fun,
It just proves your heart is with the evil one!
I'm Olive, a once flatulent cow.
Spinach is all I eat now.
That silly green grass
is a thing of the past,
for a new wind is blowing this hour.
To methane reduction all power!
If you're a cow too,
show assent by a moo.
Comment:
What could be odder
than this switch to new fodder?
They walk in confusion
Or maybe its bliss
There are solutions
But some don't get this
Taking for granted
Life's daily show
From birth the seed was planted
But i guess they don't know
They turn away
Its like closing a book
All peace of mind strays
All contributions over looked
As they walk facing there feet
A place remains the outcast
One by one covered with sheets
Population diminishing fast
As the bullets shoot through the night
Loved ones await each call
Govern to fight
As each one falls
Educated to become the master
They study in the passing days
Staying captains of world disaster
Until the last one lays
Poppies are laid at the final resting place
A picture of a loved one proudly placed
Each one their death is their contribution
For this world in disaster with no resolution
The devil wants a payment, and the angels need a check.
And the world keeps saying their ain’t no cash to get
So, you reach for the savings that your people won't release
Then you look to the heavens and the floor beneath your feat
Screaming lordy lordy where's my money gone
Then the thunder and the lighting and the water begins to come
Cause the devil wants a payment and the angels need a check
And the world keeps saying their ain’t no cash to get
Yet the people in the government are staying filthy rich
hoping that their proposals begin without a glitch
The workman in the cities coughing up a lung
Their eking out a living b/c repayment has begun
Our children are on the corners peddling out their wares
Keeping eyes to the ground avoiding others stare
The devil wants a payment, and the angels need a check
And the world keeps saying their ain’t no cash to get
Our saviors at the white house just keep babbling on
Claiming that their there for us, when really they are gone
Out proving some new theory that they really do not know
Claiming its existence, if we give it time to grow
Cause the devil wants a payment and the angels need a check
And the world keeps saying their ain’t no cash to get
I gave up my clothes drier,
For cleaner air.
I started a metal recycling scheme for my local church,
So as not to leave them in the lurch.
I dig most of my waste food into the garden,
And it now looks more like a miniature Eden,
I separate my paper and plastics,
And only toss waste into bins.
I try not to buy products that contain palm oil,
Cause the environment they only spoil.
I read up on what is user friendly,
And treat Animals Kindly.
I pick up rubbish in the street,
To make it look neat.
I hardly ever take the car anywhere I can walk,
As I try to not be just all talk.
I write on both sides of a sheet of paper,
Which I think quite proper.
We don't have a TV in every room,
Or more than one broom.
Our batteries we re-charge,
Despite the extra charge.
Yet my biggest contribution to sustainability,
Something that needs a lot of agility,
And built up resist-ability,
That will give you respectability,
And your dollars longevity,
Leaving you with credibility,
When if you only need one commodity,
That is all you come out with, hopefully.
"I don't call them New Year's Resolutions. I prefer the term:
Casual Promises to myself that I am under no legal obligation
to fulfill." ~ jamonkey.com
I've given thought, after a titch of consideration,
to make New Year's resolutions... such a vexation
I hesitated to do so without serious contemplation
because quite often I'm led astray by temptation
I will write better poetry to post on the Soup
Be more productive among my peer group
Mind my own business, on others I won't snoop
But won't swear not to write limericks about poop.
I will waive my penchant for chocolate... well, maybe
That will be the most difficult resolution to keep for me
I vow to give up margaritas and switch to sweet tea
And I'll put it all in writing. I'll even sign that decree!
I will not let sticks and stones break my bones
I'll just blame it on an imbalance of her hormones
Or on a guy who acts like one of the Flintstones
Maybe on a plethora of a million other unknowns
I will forgive anyone who screams at me in rants
I will not respond like there are ants in my pants
I seriously promise that I will give peace a chance
Smoke a peace pipe instead of doing a war dance
I will consider it a compliment to be called 'mean girl'
By anyone who derogatorily behaves like a churl
I'll have more patience, so my temper doesn't unfurl
And smile more often. I'll give that thought a whirl
I will make it a definite priority as one of my goals
To walk away from bullies and persnickety trolls
Wooly wolves who pretend to be sheep in their roles
But who expose themselves as taunting buttholes
I am determined to start eating much healthier food
knowing it's a required taste that I've not yet accrued
I believe I will enjoy life more with a positive attitude
And ignore negative folks who like practicing turpitude
I will do my utmost best not to break one resolution
But if I do, I must supplicate for leniency and absolution
I'll not give up a resolution without making a substitution
If you see me cheating, take my chocolate as retribution
A gain in age
A loss in life span
A gain in age
A loss in health
A gain in age
A loss in value
Unless he has invaluable contribution
Like Abraham Lincoln the president
Like Albert Eistein the scientist
Like Confucius the philosopher
Or else he will be gradually forgotten
Retreating from this world
Unlike an antique
Which time gives it value
Who will give the aged value
Of course no one else
Except his family and the loved ones
Except the Almighty God
